eh ? He did say the first half was very disappointing - have a listen again. To say they were too gung-ho after that display was asking for trouble, even if he didn’t mean it in that way. We haven’t managed a goal in three league matches and only a handful of shots on target. Thankfully we have two home games coming up which is the perfect opportunity to turn it around. I think we all thought it was an attacking line up at 3 pm, problem was we just got over run in midfield and so Bennett became totally isolated. I'm not sure why GC doesn't just revert to 4-4-2 which served him well last season.

Bit of a change of subject, but I was there fairly early and wandered around the area. What a dirty, rubbish strewn dump, I couldnt believe how bad it was. itss not a case of run down industrial area, but its simply not cleaned, there was so much rubbish on one pavement we walked along the road. Does anybody know if austerity measures are so bad in Birmingham that they have stopped all street cleaning? It says something when ive travelled pretty extensively and the only dirtiest place was a cambodian border crossing. 2nd biggest city in our 1st world country which is 80 miles from me, embarrassing.

The ‘second City tag’ is certainly a laughable one. Even for all its New Street’s, Moore Street’s & Bull Rings about the city, the central areas are an absolute horror.

Reviewing the game in the cold light of day though nobody can deny that Coventry deserved their win I think the goal right on half time was the killer and probably decided the result. Had we held out until half time we would have gone in relieved that although we had not played well it was still anybody's game. Had they not scored Coventry would have gone in frustrated that for all their superiority we had held them. It was obvious after the break that we would not be able to get back into the game and it was simply a matter of damage limitation. Coventry were slicker trickier and more imaginative than us, but I think if we had held out till HT we might have got something from the game. However win lose or draw Rovers are painful to watch at the moment and I can see attendances dropping rapidly if we have to endure this dross.

I’ve not read anything about yesterday’s game (I’m depressed enough), so apologies if the following points have been covered, but in summary: 1. Good support and in numbers again (although we have our idiots - kicking off with each other, what was that about?!) 2. Coventry were not that good (I lost count of the number of misplaced passes and the ball going out of play) ... but we were worse; 3. Being wound up by their cheating. At least twice the ball was cleared from their box to our midfield and, just as we were about to ping it back in, one of their defenders goes down clutching his head and so forcing the referee to blow up (not the ref’s fault); 4. Even if we were still playing now we would not have scored yet.
The biggest worry for me is 3 league games and no goals. We never looked like scoring yesterday. Did I hear right that GC said we were too gung ho? Is that like Man City are? No, we were just sh@te. We tried to attack (as we had had to do) but were completely useless up front. Maybe GC was hoping to hang on to a 1-0 defeat?
Anyway, this was supposed to be a summary but apologies that this has turned into a rant (probably on the back of spending around 150 quid on tickets, train fares, food etc. taking two kids with me).
I’ll leave you with this observation from my 8 year old: “Daddy, the football was rubbish but I did like the train ride”.

Never thought I’d hear Cambodian border crossings and Birmingham mentioned in the same sentence! Was it the one linking Thailand to the temples of Angkor? I’ve crossed that a few times, and have to say it used to be the scariest Wild West crossing I’ve ever witnessed! Worth the trip though in an old pick up along the pot holes to see Angkor Wat in all it’s glory!

About 15 years ago, bkk to s riep i think, dirt road with pot holes for about 7 hours, spent the whole time being vibrated and inhaling dust. Got to hotel and threw up. Casino at border crossing and children, infants sat on a pile of rubbish surrounded by household waste and plastic, indelibly printed in my mind. And Birmingham has brought it back into my thoughts.amazing

We did score yesterday though, assuming it was disallowed due to JCH's tussle with his opposite number then the decision seemed a bit harsh given that the Coventry player didn't even appeal for a foul . During the spell around the disallowed goal Sercs just seemed to be getting going, then he pulled up injured, 5 minutes later it was 2-0 and game over. This season is becoming like our last relegation season with a number of players all picking up injuries, at the moment it's Matthews, THD, Rodman, Sercombe and Little all out injured and JCH not fully fit.

Not surprised in that city, the dustman or should I say refuse collectors always have an extra six weeks holiday/year on strike in a continual dispute with the council.

I've always hated Birmingham.
Horrible place.
Manchester has always been the "2nd" City as far as I'm concerned.

Well.. I liked our kit and and I saw a dragonfly fly across the pitch, thats a first. 1st half, oh my. 2nd half higher tempo. Our centre backs played well, but our full backs!. Again I go to an away match and there are a group of fans trying to get in a fight, inside the ground and then outside when I was waiting for a cov mate to drive back, the same morons getting moved on by the police. Im not comfortable with this element of our away support so thats my last away game, I really dont enjoy it. As a Gashead living up north, I get to a lot of away games. The two or three morons making a nuisance were new faces to me. I can’t recall ever seeing them before. The idiot with the stupid woolly hat and peak made himself and us look very stupid. Even his idiot friends were telling him to stop. It’s a shame as I was there with my wife and 9 week old baby and the actions of those idiots has made her question if she wants to come again, let alone bring baby Gas-Ed.

Ah, so that was you with the baby - about half way down just to the right of the goal? Hats off as I wasn’t brave enough to take my eldest to a game until he was about 8 years, never mind a newborn. I assume he or she got in free?

Did your baby have a "moore" on his rovers shirt? Yep mixed race chap and another idiot with a hat, I had to ask him to move to get through the concourse as he was stood in the middle goading the home fans and he looked seriously angry, for a moment I thought he might punch me. 2nd time in my last 3 away matches when I thought I might get punched by another rovers fan and frankly I cant be assed anymore

Good documentary on Leeds on amazon, does make me jealous of having a team that challenges for promotion after watching it... Worth a watch!
Lincoln are on fire at the moment and how much have they spent on players I wonder?
