And surely Wycombe on 8 points so far shows that you can assemble a reasonable side on a shoestring. They can’t have spent much more than we have surely? Only 4 games have been played.

A win is a win and the 3 points were crucial tonight to get our season going but boy did we make it hard for ourselves. We played a lot better in the first half when it was eleven vs eleven and after they went down to 9 men, that is when it was most telling that we are absolutely crying out for some creativity and pace in midfield as none of our players looked like they knew what to do when faced with 8 defenders between them and the goal when we had all the possession.

Let’s not look at teams after 4 games and say ‘why can’t we do that’ Everyone said that about Bury and look. Last season everyone said that about Accrington after 8 games and they nearly went down in the end. Fair points

I hope we don’t finish off this thread about Tom Nicholls cos everyone who knows me knows what I think of TN. I posted last Saturday that we should play 352 with the squad I don’t want to be the one to say i told you do but.....I told you so 😁 . And well done Alfie Kilgour mature head on young shoulders. Until he makes an error and fans on this forum will say why is GC playing him. Well done Rovers great win now onto the Oxford game . It worked well tonight but its a bit early say "i told you so" in my view.

Chill. 3 points is 3 points. Unless it's against Bolton, when it might not be 😂😂 Or Bury. Not funny though, that Toss Pot owner is on the brink of destroying an institution of that Lancashire town for over 100 years. Yes, although I suspect the previous owners deserve an investigation even more than Mr. Dale. I clearly remember people being so annoyed that they had owners who were getting in great (& expensive) players.

Wycombe have got new American owners so could have spent a bit this summer on new players, whilst we're still stuck with the likes of Bennett, Nichols and Rodman on our wage bill. Imagine if we could have offloaded them this summer and got in similar players as JCH and Smith as replacements. Wycombe publicly announced they had to " greatly reduce the budget"from last season.

Whilst I understand the various areas of frustration, the ultimate point is a win is a win and 3 points added. And to state the obvious, those 3 points are currently the difference between being in the rele zone, and not...

Smith booked for over celebrating. Stupid rule that - especially if it contributes at some point in a suspension for 5 or 10 bookings Smith is more stupid for taking his shirt off. The players know the rule so why do it?

I actually feel for him. He's too far gone now at the Gas, his confidence won't recover at this point. I think he can still go onto score goals in his career but he has to go down a level or two before he can recapture the confidence needed to do that. Stick him in a midfield 3 at the top end. JCH fed off him last season. We wouldn’t have stayed up without their link. The thing is you know there is a player in there. Whoever he signs for once he leaves us you know he will become a star for.It wont be as a striker tho. Its embarrassing to call him a striker here. Its not harsh, or not getting behind him as he has had the support here in his 2 plus years. He is just our worst striker ever given his game Vs Goal ratio.

Thought we were the better team in the first half, played some nice stuff and created the better chances. JCH scored with a well placed header, not at his best but looked a threat. 5-3-2 seemed to suit us better than the narrow formation we played against Wycombe, I thought Hare and Upson had really good games. In the second half though, Tranmere quickly went down to nine men and we didn’t really know how to react. Ollie Clarke gave the ball away a lot and we looked nervous, couldn’t find a way through them and Tranmere looked a threat on the counter. Huge relief when we got the penalty at the end, tonight was a much needed win and I hope it gives us confidence going into Saturday.

EFL confirm if Bury don't make it only 3 teams to go down Could be a blessing to us come May but I feel for the fans. Yep me to, makes you realise that although there is lots of moaning on here about owners and manager, things could be a whole lot worse!

Can't see GC staying long with those attendances. Makes it all the more important for him that he get a results. The standard of football under him is appalling.

Sorry Gas, that was very poor, we even looked out of ideas against 9 players. I just don't see what GC can do, I don't think he has a plan b, but like we all know he needs wide players. We are predictable and unable to really cause teams that much trouble at all.. 3 points yes, but we were poor. I'm astounded. I thought we were really good tonight. Totally in control throughout. 3-5-2 gave us better width, more solidity at the back and, joy of joys, we passed the ball on the deck. Ok, we lost our way for ten minutes after the second red, but at no stage did they threaten and I can't recall Jaakola making a save. Upson was my MoM...superb performance. Took the ball from defenders and sprayed it out wide. Perfect. Leahy and Hare also very good.

Nail on head and it could have been said 45 times in the last 45 minutes. V 9 men it was sideways , sideways , sideways, . Tranmere were crap and we only just beat them with 9 men even though we won 2-0 If we hadn’t scored the pen you just know they were one crushing blow from getting an equaliser. We need a creative midfielder and we need one preferably or two wingers or we are going to be in a relegation scrap all season. Delighted with the three points yes Worried ? Yes .

How frustrating is Bennett! He should have been opening them at when he came 9n but he is just so slow and walks with the ball at a pedestrian pace. He's technically decent but if the rumours are true then surely the worst value for money player at the club.

352 definitely suits the players we currently have better than the narrow diamond we've been using, both full backs look a lot more comfortable and thought they both did well tonight, cracking cross from Hare for first goal he looks to me as though he has potential to be a very good player for us. Thought Upson was excellent as well. Definitely deserved to win although for some strange reason we seemed to sit back after the 2nd red card, we just didn't move the ball quickly enough & made it a lot easier for them than it should have been. Having said that a win & clean sheet I'd have settled for that before ko however it came.

It was a pedestrian performance, against good sides like Blackpool and Cov, we are going to keep being rolled over. There was no urgency, no skill on show, no creativity... for me just very uninspiring. We are lucky Tranmere received 2 reds.

Don't get me wrong, I like the lad but it is a stupid thing to do. Experienced or inexperienced.
