Can't see GC staying long with those attendances. Makes it all the more important for him that he get a results. The standard of football under him is appalling. Every manager needs a Midland Gas.

I'm astounded. I thought we were really good tonight. Totally in control throughout. 3-5-2 gave us better width, more solidity at the back and, joy of joys, we passed the ball on the deck. Ok, we lost our way for ten minutes after the second red, but at no stage did they threaten and I can't recall Jaakola making a save. Upson was my MoM...superb performance. Took the ball from defenders and sprayed it out wide. Perfect. Leahy and Hare also very good. We obviously saw the game differently, I cant remember us really being on top. It was a pedestrian performance, against good sides like Blackpool and Cov, we are going to keep being rolled over. There was no urgency, no skill on show, no creativity... for me just very uninspiring. We are lucky Tranmere received 2 reds. Interesting isn't it, how the same game produces such different views! I thought the 2nd red hampered us as we seemed to falter a bit after that for a while. I thought we were in control beforehand. I'm not a big fan of GC but credit is due tonight for having the balls to change to a system that we appear far more suited to, both offensively and defensively.

I know that we all know this, but we really are crying out for a creative midfielder. It would make a huge difference to us.
Encouraging signs from the 352 - it suits our current squad - but it’s all so slow and stodgy in the midfield (although Upson played well tonight).
Can’t really draw any conclusions from second half as the game turned into a bit of a farce, but we dominated the first half and played far better v 11 men than 9 or 10.
We’re a very functional side with, thankfully, a very good striker.

Tyler Smith has scored more goals in his first 3 games for us, than Tom Nichols has in 75!!!!!

Some very harsh comments on here. Tranmere never looked like beating us at any point so what more can you ask for? We at least tried to get the ball wide and hit JCH tonight, against Wycombe the other day there was no discernible strategy whatsoever.

Exactly how I had it reported to me from the family who attended. That Upson was instrumental in all of our decent play in the middle (and just about everywhere) Tranmere couldn’t hold a candle to us for the majority of the match & it was a fully deserved victory overall. So very surprising to read comments such as ‘we were poor’ and ‘It’s lucky they had two sent off’.

I was shocked to see how low the gate was. Even if we started winning I cant see an avg "home" support of more than 7500 given our current style of play (even tho I wasnt there tonight) .

We play negative football, struggle to string 2 or 3 passes together and find it hard to hit the net, with 3 or 4 shots on target and 0 goals scored in those opening 3 games. Even tonight we struggled to create and break down 9 men.

I said a couple of weeks ago that with this style of play we need to be top half pushing for top six to get over 7000 . I stand by that. Good win tonight and a massive 3 Pts but even if we beat oxford Saturday playing the same way I can’t see us getting many 8k+ crowds this season. It won’t make any difference to my attendance I’ve been going since I turned 6 years old it’s in my blood , through thick and thin but people want to be entertained and many won’t bother sometimes I wish I didn’t to be honest.

Nail on head and it could have been said 45 times in the last 45 minutes. V 9 men it was sideways , sideways , sideways, . Tranmere were crap and we only just beat them with 9 men even though we won 2-0 If we hadn’t scored the pen you just know they were one crushing blow from getting an equaliser. We need a creative midfielder and we need one preferably or two wingers or we are going to be in a relegation scrap all season. Delighted with the three points yes Worried ? Yes . How frustrating is Bennett! He should have been opening them at when he came 9n but he is just so slow and walks with the ball at a pedestrian pace. He's technically decent but if the rumours are true then surely the worst value for money player at the club. We got exactly what all my Pompey family and friends told me. A very technical player who always wants more touches than he needs, slows it down and misses the opportunities to create because he’s too busy playing about with it.

We’re a tough side with a defensive midfield and possibly one of the best center half’s in kilgour from what I’ve seen of him so far. We’ve got decent strikers too. Add some width and pace and a creative midfielder and we could be a top six side. Thing is that’ll cost us another 15 k a week that we ain’t got so make do with this one dimensional side and scrape through I reckon. Coggers wasn’t joking when he said it would be pretty was he ? Ffs it’s going to be a long season. Anyway 3pts UTG.

More there than I expected tonight, especially Tranmere fans fair play to them.
Solid performance again from Kilgour - feel we have a really good player on our hands.
Slightly worrying we struggled to break down the 9 men and probably played worse than when they had the full 11. Midfield 3 just didn’t work again but we already know that. Good performance from Hare, great delivery on him.
But, if you offered me 2-0 before kick off I’d of snapped your hand off. Glad we’re up and running.

Even tonight we struggled to create and break down 9 men. Not the best football, but goals can change games. We were unlucky not to take the lead against Blackpool and Wycombe. Plus we would have made it 1 1 against Coventry, if it wasn't for the ref. Not always easy against fewer player's. They raise their games and it's easy to relax. Only have to look at the Portsmouth game to see that. Positives 2 wins and a draw at home, without letting a goal in. Although one was in the cup. Keeper looked more confident tonight. Took a few crosses and held them. He would have tried to punch them, at the start of the season. Hare had his best game and put in some decent crosses. Kilgour looks like he's going to be quality. Even did a Cruyff turn, when we were 2 up at the end. Confident on the ball, even though he was playing on the left. Not sure why Craig, was not on the left, seeing as though, he has played left back before. JCH getting back his fitness and the other 2 strikers look like they will do ok. Negatives are it's still boring to watch and we have little creativity. Hopefully this will still be addressed before the window shuts. No points or goals away from home at the moment.

A good account of our season so far. Other it being sh**e to watch it’s probably the best start to a season in a while with two wins a draw and two defeats including cup games. Last season was probably my worst points to games ratio in all my years supporting us, I missed two home wins the only two home games I missed, and I went to one away match that we won and saw us win I think 6 games out of 22 league matches. So far I’ve got a 100% record as I saw the cup game last week . The bad news is I’m on holiday Saturday.

A far more resolute system and really like the back 3. Tyler Smiths movement tonight was excellent, him and JCH will cause problems if fit this season. Agree with many that we need one creative spark somewhere in midfield.

When he came on it wasn’t to carve them about. He was behind the front 2 linking in the wingbacks, who were not exactly busting a gut at 75 mins. It was containment football.
