seriously when did you all become so pretentious and favour a lack of humour/banter, if people like you had your way everyone would be sat around literally watching paint dry, literally destroying society with your magnolia personalities, this is not to excuse genuine homophobia or racism .. but as stated prior pages back... do you not get that everything is and can be funny dependant on circumstance?

Sorry boss, should never have questioned you boss, you are right boss, you are always right boss, did I say right boss ? See, pretending to be oppressed. Not sure why you keep doing it. You don't seem to be able to distinguish between a rational argument and the presumption of authority.

So a disabled jew walks into a bar and trys to catch the black bartenders gaze.
It was funnier in the pub.

I miss the old days when you could have a conversation without feeling the need to accompany it with a cute picture. If you don't understand what I'm saying, imagine I'm saying it on a picture of a cartoon cat wearing an amusing hat.

Its pretty cringe worthy these days. Its like a few years ago whenever we played a Welsh team the majority of the songs were either anti Welsh or pro English when half of our team and management were Welsh! yeah but for some reason it seems it's still deemed more acceptable to call the Welsh sheep sh@ggers than to shout homophobic or anti black abuse. I think any kind of racism, phobic behaviour is abhorrent, but I do find there seems to be a kinda hierarchy of bigotry, anti Welsh racist abuse Is regarded as "banter" by many. It's all outrageous and disgusting can't pick and choose

There's a reason why not one single male player in this country has come out as gay whilst still playing.

There's a reason why not one single male player in this country has come out as gay whilst still playing. On many levels it's totally understandable no player would come out as gay. The media are utterly desperate for someone to do so and the resulting circus and spotlight around that individual would make it very difficult for them to concentrate on their playing careers. At the end of day a players personal life is no ones business but their own. I've no doubt there are plenty of professional players in same sex relationships across the country and I'd imagine many at their clubs would be aware. Who cares frankly.

Justin Fashanu came out. He was the first openly gay footballer. A tragic end

I am a Lesbian who has been subjected to homophobia in the past which I found extremely distressing. I have been watching the Gas since 1966. I acknowledge that by going to football I am likely to hear chants on a variety of matters that I could find amusing, emotive, boring or downright uncomfortable. There is a fine line between acceptable and unacceptable. I am glad to know that we have, mainly, moved on from the racist chants, except the one where the IRA is mentioned. I am also pleased that the different type of abuse the female officials got has diminished. I think the chant about a certain someone and death totally unacceptable. Homophobic abuse is, for me, hard to take. But some banter is amusing. Again fine lines. Sorry to hear that tinker... You have mentioned the "fine lines" and others in response have mentioned every ones fine line is different. So wouldnt it be best for those who think saying a fine line comment would be better off not saying it, whether offence may be taken or not? Those such as okebournegas on here who resent the fact they cannot do such a thing would probably think its still PC gone mad, but the poster here is a real person who could be offended so why continue to push the boundaries? Is it just to be funny, or just to find the right side of offensive? I really dont understand some of the comments here.

This isn't really about football is it, its not even about Brighton and its not about minorities is it? Its about getting away with cheap laughs when you can because you know you'll get away with something that (I won't say offended) most people think is poor form and quite frankly embarrassing....
