Really sad news. Never met Dave but have hugely enjoyed his posts and clear passion for the club over the years. Does hit home and make you wonder how many of us older gasheads will ever see the dream of a decent new stadium be fulfilled.
RIP

Is that the Dave who used to always go for hospitality deals at away games? Yes Sorry to hear that. I knew him from the Gaslist rather than in 'real life' although I did chat to him once or twice at away games.

He was the man who went to the UWE court case so we didn't have to. I respected that. RIP severncider

Very sad to hear, knew him and liked him. Very committed gashead and liked to show it even when common sense suggested a low profile was the wiser option. One story stands out...Rovers are due to play Stoke away, Stoke decide to offer a £5 a seat deal to home fans only. Gets the goat of Rovers fans who get outraged on the gas list and forum. Think Dave was Northampton Gas at the time rather than WSM or Severncider, but he’s not stood for an offer that excludes gasheads and has phoned their ticket office and bought tickets on the halfway line at a fiver a time. He offers the spares on the list/forums and I take him up on one. There is a brief discussion on how the Stoke fans are committed, hard and just a bit mental and that if we are going to be sat amongst them we try not to draw attention to ourselves. I turn up outside the turnstile we’ve agreed to meet at wearing the most neutral outfit I can find and am dismayed to see that the bloke I’m going to be sitting next to and chatting about the match with has a rovers fleece on! Well the logo wasn’t that big on them and although it was Rovers blue there was still a chance we might get away with it if Rovers didn’t rile up the home fans too much. It all seemed to be going to plan when just before halftime our weak loanee keeper from Blackburn Rovers waved in a tame effort from Peter Thorne...could even go for a halftime cuppa. However, in the second half Stoke gradually fell apart and the Roberts-Cureton forward line ripped them apart to Dave’s obvious and loud delight. Really thought we were in trouble with the glowering locals when the third one went in but in truth they, like their team, had thrown the towel in and when Cureton added a magnificent screamer of a fourth even they clapped and shook our hands at the final whistle. We realised how lucky we were that we had infiltrated a milder section of their support when we were walking back to our cars and saw a couple of rougher Stokies launching traffic cones at the windows of any passing vehicles that conspicuously contained gasheads. I never took Dave up on the offer of a halfway vantage point in enemy territory again but we often crossed paths at various venues and chewed the fat about our favourite team. I’m sad that another such opportunity is no longer possible, God bless Dave RIP.

Can we name the match thread in his memory? or a permanent thread like the prediction league? Apologies if its deemed a terrible shout.
