RIP Dave
Many of us must have been in your company over the years without ever having known you. But I do think there is an invisible bond which keeps us together. And so long as we have a Bristol Rovers FC that will never change.

Very sorry to learn of Dave Perry's passing early this morning. As others have said he was certainly a very loyal supporter. I first came across him as a member of the Gas List. I think it fair to say that Dave was a prolific poster and it was apparent that he had a passion for knowing what was going on! There was one occasion on which he reported that in the morning "he had been to The Beeches" (Rovers training ground) in the late 90s, somehow that particular e-mail generated hundreds of identical messages every time members opened up their email browser over a couple of days as he had some sort of virus in his computer!
I can't recall the first time I actually met him, but the more I became involved in the Supporters Club the more I became acquainted with him and it was apparent that he made a point of talking to members of the board of directors and members of staff. He was a shareholder and a regular attender at AGMs and Supporters Club meetings, he was never afraid to ask a difficult question or pursue a point important to himself. Such was his interest in the affairs of the Football Club I always wondered why he didn't get his hands dirty by offering his services to one of the voluntary organisations as I am sure he would have had plenty to offer.
When I was heavily involved in the Supporters Club, he would ask me questions. or drop a nugget of information to see if I would give him a reaction. I found it quite endearing but always played him with a straight bat. Having said that there were moments when I did seek his opinion as I always thought he had the best interests of the club at heart. I do not visit this forum very often, but was amused to find that when I did, he hasn't really changed down the years and indeed I did take him to task on a couple of issues!
I used to talk to him prior to most home matches as he used to visit what used to be called the Blues Bar to see his friends, but those discussions tailed off when the bar was updated at the beginning of last season. I last saw him prior to the Oxford match and it was clear he wasn't in the best of health. I always found him very charming even if he did cause me considerable annoyance at times, and still think of him as "Northampton Dave."
I have little doubt that when he reached the Pearly Gates yesterday, he immediately went about trying to locate Ron Craig and Geoff Dunford!
My condolences to his family and close friends and may he rest in peace.

RIP Dave and I hope he does find Ron Craig as Ron liked to feed him with false snippets to see how far they would travel.
