Just free and now popped onto the matchday thread. Have to agree that penalty was very poor, but it's also very poor the way OTT reactions from most on here. Like a bunch of kids. His goalscoring record has not been good enough, not by a long way. We've all seen that he can do well when his confidence is up, but he's too much of a confidence player and it's a vicious cycle for him. He'll do better at his next club I feel. However, some of the reactions like "get the c*nt out" and words to that effect are just childish. My opinion of course. Hopefully we can come back and get something from the game nonetheless. I agree no need to call him all the names under the sun but like I said on the other page someone with his scoring record and confidence shouldn't be taking penalties there needs to be better man management on the pitch possibly the captain having a word and taking control. |

No, just saying what we have all seen over and over again - he cannot finish, even from a penalty (the worst I've seen I think at any level) Yeah get that.. and agree it was a poor penalty and perhaps someone else could’ve taken it. But some of the anger and aggression personally aimed at another person is beyond belief! Attack the play not the player. Hard to attack the play when we're losing due to poor pen? Although the abuse directed at a Rovers player is more what you'd expect by faceless users of social media not on Gaschat. After all Nichols doesn't pick himself to play or decide to take the pens. |

Agreed, Nichols doesn’t look league 1 and has been a poor finisher since day 1 for us and I hope his contract isn’t extended. However calling a him a lady garden because he did something poor is disgusting. He didn’t try to screw the penalty up to screw us over. |

How would you describe the useless little Twat? I didn't go today because my lad was playing for his local side and I said he had to honour his obligation to his team and his mates. Im kind of glad we didn't go. Travelling all that f@cking way to watch some who cost us something over £200,000, put a weak penalty down the middle into the keepers midriff for FFS. Even the commentator said it was a dreadful, terrible penalty. I was at Northampton a couple of years ago when the useless little C### did exactly the same. He's played in practically every game since then, and has scored about 4 goals. 4 F@cking goals and he's probably paid about £3,000 a week. What does the Twat have to do to displease you? F@ck me. |

That much vitriol aimed at a player who's been poor but at least puts effort in which is more than can be said for many many players over the years (yes I know that doesn't mean he's good enough), and even though he's played most games, we find ourselves as competitive League 1 side. During the Trollope era, we were very good at penalties. All penalty takers were told to follow three simple rules.
1) Decide in advance where you’re going to put it. Do not change your mind.
2) Run up to the ball, don’t jog.
3) Put your foot through it.

Utter rubbish Topper. Hes an expensively acquired (for us) player, a forward on at least 3k per week and he can't manage to score a f@cking penalty. Its not as if the keeper made an out- of-this world save; that would be fair enough, but the Twat put a weak shot down the middle of the goal. He could have given the pen to someone else. He is a Twat. End of. |
