. Not sure if other players are bad or just don't get GCs tactics. Keith Hill just did his homework. Expect more managers to follow We noticed this tonight too, they targeted Kelly with Dodoo, and just closed Upson & Clarke down which stopped them playing - hence all the aimless balls into touch. The difference is that they have an experienced manager and we have a coach who's found himself in the big job unexpectedly.

Sorry Nichols, Ollie and Kelly worse 3 players on the pitch. Best probably Murphy for them. We should of killed them in first 10mins outside of that we weren’t at the races - out thought; out paced; out muscled; 2nd to the ball; they won all the 2nd balls and were technically better. You can’t say they didn’t deserve to win over the 90mins.

The team was just all wrong tonight. Craig was awful tonight and at fault for the second goal. Upson was back to his worst with Ollie around him. Ollie was, well, awful. Misplaced passes, poor first touch, didn’t put a foot in, didn’t lead, did nothing. Kelly isn’t a lwb. Was awful and lightweight with no pace. Why drop Leahy? Rodman, was awful, wrong decision making, wayward passing and crossing. Nichols. Same as Clarke. But Smith was no better when he came on. The only ones that came out with any credit tonight were Adeboyejo and Jakkola. Tactically the manager picked the wrong team expecting Bolton to roll over and didn’t have the balls to drop Nichols and Clarke early in the game when it was obvious they were miles off the pace. GC has to take the blame for tonight. Absolutely terrible decision making. Add to the fact we had Ketfle reffing made it for an even more of a terrible evening. Upson being forced into the defensive centre mid role playing right in front of the back 3, being the reason he was so poor tonight. He should be running midfield from the centre circle where he has the past 6 weeks, with Abu alongside him. Our season will quickly unravel if GC insists on OC being the preferred pick ahead of Ed Upson in that attacking CM role.

Look we battle hard and lump it up top to our big striker. What could possibly go wrong? Murphy was superb for them tonight, real class act. They’ve clearly got quality players for this level all over the pitch. It Boils my water that a few sides have played against their kids and turned them over by big scores. The EFL have massively f**ked up. Not sure we would have beat their kids anyway playing like that!

Just seen an Opta average player positions map from tonight’s game and it shows OC as being our deepest midfielder on the night (only marginally deeper than Upson, mind).

I've watched every game this season (I live abroad so watching on iFollow). Today was the worst game of the season for me. We looked like a team that's been on a 10 game losing streak, not a team that was at the dizzying heights of 4th 10 days ago. Everyone out there looked shot of confidence. Upson has been good this season, today he was awful. Clarke has been below par most games, today somehow he was worse. Kelly doesn't look a league 1 player, I think he'd struggle in league 2, backed off their winger way too many times and just let him stroll into the box. Adebayego and Jaakola the only players that put in a decent shift tonight.
And then there's Tom Nichols. I'm usually supportive of his work ethic and he looks a half decent player at times. Today he did not. He's missed a penalty on Saturday and now he's given up altogether. He's absolutely bottled it today, this excuse of him not having confidence is not an acceptable excuse. He's a football player and he is being paid to do a job. If I don't do my job, I get fired. If he's lost his confidence he needs to get his head down and work harder to do better, not throw his toys out of the pram like he did a couple of times today! Where is his fire and determination?? Enough is enough, as someone mentioned above, he is stealing a living from our football club.
I hope that at least with so many players having a bad game it's now out of their systems and we can push on.

The amount of people streaming out at about 80 minutes summed up the performance. There wasn’t many left in the stadium at full time. The first half was played to virtual silence from the Thatchers End. There was just nothing to get the crowd going.

Asking Micky Kelly to play as a wingback after a month without playing is mad. To be honest it stunk of giving the lad minutes. Coughlan and the players turned up tonight thinking they’d already won. The tactics and selection were poor at best, the performances on the pitch with sloppy at best. Rovers will play 3-5-2 every game, they will not move from that formation and it makes us easy to set up against. Now, normally our defence plays better and we have a player up top who can get goals. When one or both of those aren’t happening we really, really struggle. At half time we really needed to switch to 4-4-2, replace Craig or Kilgour with Little, replace one of Clarke, Ogogo or Upson with Leahy and give Kelly that protection. Not having Deon Moore on the bench at all is honestly baffling.
I think we have a tactically basic manager, and an ok squad with a monster goal scorer. Much to be improved on.

I’m in Japan atm and was really thinking to myself I might set the alarm for 3.30am to watch this one, thank god I didn’t.
I’ve missed both Donny and Bolton, but wtf has gone wrong? How do we go from a deserved 4th place, playing good football to losing our unbeaten home record by 2 goals against bottom placed, winless Bolton?
Looks like we’re setting ourselves up nicely for our annual home loss to a non-league team in the FA Cup 1st round

Long way to go yet and a transfer window in two months but that’s my take on it so far.

Also... do not want to hear that these are “an honest bunch of lads” it’s driving me up the wall How can they be honest if they're stealing from the club as in wages?

Re GC interview. Not sure how our defensive set up can leave us open. Granted, we didn't do the things we should do when we haven't got the ball but would like to know what the plan is when we have got the ball

Shocking Dire performance and all to do with bad tactics from GC
Rodman will never be a wing back as long as his arse points down and Kelly was not physical enough against the excellent No 23 Dodoo. Would have both their no 23 and number 2 in our lineup
Time to sack the manager and bring in somebody who knows what they are doing

I thought that was the grimmest, most disturbing two hours imaginable. Until last night.

GC and his interview. He didn't say I apologise for not having a clue, and setting us up as defensively as possible is all I can do. When it doesn't work and the players don't turn up I cant do anything about it, sorry. Id respect that honesty.

Fair play to Bolton, they and their fans deserved it. It was good to see they were applauded off the field by the Gas
