Just take a step back and look at this objectively. It's hard to do, but.....
1. Chelsea manager leaves to manage Reading; 2. Brentford manager leaves to manage Rochdale; 3. Bristol Rovers manager leaves to manage Mansfield.
4th in one league to 18th in the league below.
One of the 3 scenarios looks likely. Any guesses which?
What a shambles.

It’s alright saying surely his family support him because he’s on what ? Probably a hundred grand a week possibly more, but he’s got a wife with kids and they see him for probably a few hours a week ? My mrs would rather I took a wage cut and spend time with my family than earn more and never see them and to be honest if I was in that situation I probably would to. I’m a builder and have been offered very good money working away over the years but I want to be around my daughter, take her to school be around for them to enjoy my family. All my work is local and I’m earning maybe half of what I could be working all around the country but what’s the point in having a family if your never with them or there for them. That’s why I’m not in the get stuffed Cogs team. For what it’s worth nobody seems to know what’s going on anyway , but if it is to be with his family then Graham Coughlan I salute you , your a top bloke and you’ve been brilliant for us and I wish you well. UTG That’s it in a nutshell socrates. Family comes first, second and third for any right thinking person. He’s done a great job here, few resources, perhaps not the best football but we’ve had some great results. Looking doomed a year ago now we’re looking safe in League 1 and possibly a play off or even better. Thanks GC. But blimey, 4th in League 1, the highest since 2000 and we’re looking at our manager going to League 2 Mansfield who relegated us. Could all be a plea for more money we just don’t know. Like most things we have a littleness bit of info and start to draw all sorts of conclusions. Perhaps managing us has taken its toll, a year ago he seemed to think our training facilities were ok, the budget was ok and he was so pleased that BRFC had finally given him a chance after years of not getting an opportunity. And the distance between Sheffield and Bristol is the same now as it was then. I’ve no idea but perhaps it’s all been harder than he expected being number one in the club instead of “just” a coach. Perhaps there’s been a family problem, we just don’t know but we need to respect his decision whatever it is. Those who dislike the owners will try and create something that supports their opinions. I hope he stays but he’ll be replaced and we’re in a great position and I’ve always supported BRFC and whoever is managing at the time. Let’s hope for a speedy resolution, one way or the other. UTG! Absolutely Spot on.

If he ends up going to Mansfield then that's preferable for us compared to e.g Portsmouth or Sunderland. At least we're less like to see our best players following him.

Hoping GC stays whatever people are now writing ....... he said he's going to think over his situation tonight and probably everything will be a lot clearer/ decided by Monday. UTG ! Probably a bit late for that, hes painted himself into a corner and more or less made his position untenable hasnt he? which bit of the interview ?

He owes nothing to the fans, but he wouldn’t even be in a position to sign for Mansfield if the owners hadn’t given him a shot. He should have said nowt from the start but the fact he was so happy with the conditions when he started and now it.’s not good enough suggests that as a man he is even more fickle than football supporters. He only had to stick around for 4 months and see the the job through- it’s not like we were in a crap position and there was nothing to gain by staying. It’s really poor form from him. To be fair he was probably towing the line at the start regarding the facilities. What was he expected to say "yep Darrell was right the facilities are awful and the owners have to get their finger out"? And I'm yet to see an official quote from him slating the board/facilities/budget. He said as far as I'm aware "I don't know how far I can take this club". Is that tantamount to saying everything people are assuming he said? Not for me. If you can show me a link to where he questioned the budget today then please do, and I'll happily be proven wrong. www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/exclusive-graham-coughlan-set-leave-3645101I just don't get where he's hoping to take Mansfield unlike FGR etc their owner doesn't seem that wealthy, GC seems to be swapping a mid League 1 club for one hoping to be one at best, their home gate today was below 4K, it's an odd move if he takes it. Not sure he's even ever played for a club so small.

Our best players will leave as soon as we drop back down the table if he leaves anyway it makes very little difference where he goes to Bristol Rovers. The main point for me is him leaving if he does. If he does then I’d be amazed if whoever takes over keeps us in the top six come May. We’ll see.

Not forgetting Khan turned us down for them also.

Maybe he uses the same atlas as Lee Brown. Almost spat my tea out at that one 😂😂😂 Lee's team did well today. Another club who think they are better than they really are. Cracking goal from Ellis.

Confidence and momentum are massive. Trouble is JCH almost certain to go now also.

I don’t buy the family thing. A football manager is a lifestyle choice meaning long hours and job uncertainty but with high reward. I’m sure however close to home you live you will still be away night after night and a slave to the job. If there is a personal problem, family or health issue, then a manager would more than likely take a break from football management completely. In my view if GC joins Mansfield it would be down to ambition of the club and the fact he sees Mansfield playing in the championship before we are

Other managers have done this before ..... a roll of the dice perhaps ...... to get more from the board. If he gets what he wants from them - he will stay. As you say after a great win - so his mind was still on the job enough to get them up for this mega tough game and win it. We will know very soon.

Thanks for everything GC If it's just the family then why leave us on bad terms by saying it's the playing budget etc, he said he missed his wife's birthday a couple of weeks ago to stay in Bristol, if his family was so important why didn't he just return home?
