So here we are then, another big game if we want to try and achieve anything this season. If we had held on against Wimbledon, we would be sitting here 2nd at the start of today. Instead we are 6th and will drop out of the play offs with a defeat. Just goes to show how open this league is this season. I personally think Oxford will be the eventual winners, with maybe Pompey chasing in pursuit. That however, remains to be seen.
Fleetwood are unbeaten at home since Feb, and do have a good team and a chance of promotion themselves. Boxing day worried me, we looked a completely different side to the one we have been used to this season, it seems to me that Garner will want to play a different style to what has been successful for us under Coughlan. How that plays out remains to be seen however that competitive edge seemed to be missing against the Dons. And that above anything else is important at this level.
We're in fantastic form away, with 5 wins in a row. However despite that, an away win would really shock me today. I'm going for a 2-1 defeat.

As the second half progressed against Wimbledon it became more like watching Clarke's inept team of last season. Back off too deep and invite them on. No aggression or press in the tackles. Leave it to each other and concede stupid goals. Coughlan's game was all about pressing, winning the ball and getting it upfield with players putting their bodies on the line, a style that builds confidence. What you lack in genuine ability you make for in aggressive pressing and working and running as a unit. It's what's made Liverpool great again, what won Leicester the PL, what took Sheff Utd so high so quickly and, dare I say it, was the hallmark of Fleetwood's style during their rise up the leagues with Vardy up front. It's also the reason they hired their current manager. If we play against them like we did in the second half against Wimbledon we'll be gone for a Barton.

Nice pun at the end there Great post though, GC got us playing to our strengths. People slated the style at times but I quite liked the up and at them approach. The fact we were competitive every game. Hoping we don't lose that.

We have to hope it was just new manager jitters. He'd be daft not to build on it.

I can't see Garner capable of giving the hairdryer treatment unfortunately which GC definitely used a few times this season and it seemingly got results.
Another loss today for me - bit of a hammering too; 3-0 Fleetwood.

Expecting the usual loss but gutted as even though I’m behind the new manager I think we will lose GCs competitive approach where we just dont lose and become more of a later DC team where we only win the odd game. Hope I’m wrong. 3-0 loss

Really tough game, would be typical rovers to lose at home to relegation fodder and follow it up with an away win at a playoff contender.
Would take a point now though, so a hopeful prediction of 1-1

We go again. Don’t think we will get anything out of this which is a shame because I think we would have under GC.

I hope we don't lose that competitive edge that we've had in abundance this season so far. Tbf it's the same players out there so we know they can dig deep and perform, just down to whether BG can motivate them enough or not.

I hope you are right. I used to do most of the Northern and Midlands games but found that I hardly ever saw a victory. When I stayed away, we won so I intend to sit this one out. It has got to the point where I am convinced that my attendance is a guarantee of a defeat. As I am not going, I am optimistic about some kind of positive result. I know one thing- if we lose, I am going to avoid the forum for a while as I just cant bear to read all the negative posts about BG at this early stage.

A good performance and 1 or 3 points today and the Wimbledon game will be forgotten.

I think we're bigging Fleetwood up a bit here - they haven't played many in the top six so far and when they have they've generally lost.
We haven't drawn an away game yet so I'll go for 1-1 and will be happy with that!
