Glad to see that Garner doesn't rate Nichols as highly as some on here.
Great to see the likes of Hargreaves getting a go, hopefully Tomlinson too. Where "seasoned pros" like Nichols, Bennett either fail or are out of form, like O Clarke, then this is exactly the right thing to do - just look at how Kilgour and Rollin have taken their chance.

The starting 11 and the bench look like its set to get a good look at everyone....
Whilst that's not ideal I like the idea of giving everyone an equal claim....

Hargreaves in for Nichols, one up top then, or Sercs at No 10 behind JCH which never seems to have worked in the past? I’d prefer Nichols or Bennett in that role over Hargreaves. Hargreaves has talent but the last few times I’ve seen him, he’s not looked like he’s ready for first team football just yet. I agree. I've wanted Bennett in that role for a while when JCH is fit. I think it makes particular sense given on Saturday we were a fair bit higher up the pitch and our CMs were wider in attack. Left a lot of space in the 10 role. Perhaps Sercs will play higher? |

The Christmas period has a busy schedule, we’ve just played 2 games and have 2 coming up in a short space of time after this one. What’s to say he wasn’t rested? If Garner didn’t rate him at all he wouldn’t have started him in his first game in charge. |

From memory it was Adeboyejo who missed the easiest chance on Boxing Day. With Smith making zero impact. |
