Have we thrown away that high position? We're still level on points with the play offs don't forget. This is a tight league, where teams as low as 11th or 12th are still in the race. No,not yet. But unless something is broken maybe don't take it apart and repair it. Too late now anyway in his pre match interview he told us all he is going to change the whole club even if it mean 2 steps back and one forward. Plus he had a long conversation with wael all about it so what could possibly go wrong? Plenty could go wrong, but we should give the bloke the chance to see if it can work.

Just look at our recent results under BG L-D-L-D, that's hardly play off form, 4 games ago we had the best current form in L1 and actually matched Posh footballing wise. All teams have a dodgy spell though. Wycombe, Ipswich, Peterborough and us are having one now. Pompey and Sunderland have had them. We don't know, but we may have had this blip under GC too. We've played a lot of games in a short space of time, with a small squad. Perhaps it was inevitable?

But despite the general feeling about our board since they’ve arrived we’ve actually done alright haven’t we considering we’d spent most of the last 15 years in a division 4 relegation battle to stay in the league before they arrived.

One thing I did notice when the team came out for the 2nd half, during their short warm up routine, was everybody was going through the drill. Everyone that is, except JCH. He didn't seem interested. Either he is above such things, or he has been told to take it easy because of his injury.
Makes you wonder if his head has already been turned...

Although as things stand losing JCH now seems no great loss, not even sure he's even worthy of a starting place anymore.

Agree he's off the boil but which of our current strikers do you feel should be tasked with scoring goals in his place?

If Ed upsons shot goes in we would have won, enjoyed the game, draw a fair result, jordi at fault for first but great save late on. Pleased to see Tom Davies and THD back in the squad, really like Ben s post match interviews intelligent and well reasoned, think he will shape this squad well with a few tweaks.

Was fantastic for us when we went direct high and central and the players Coughlan brought in to work with him were perfectly picked to compliment him but there’s a time and a place for everyone.

Hopefully who ever BG brings in this week or give Adeboyejo a start I'm not really sure he can be any worse/it might stir JCN into action when he comes on, as I can't even recall when JCH last had a decent effort at goal. Although he could well know he's off anyway hence the lack of effort lately before his last injury he was one of the top scorers in England, since he's only scored pens!!

Haven’t read the thread but have just got back and fwiw... Jordi played very well, very safe and commanding and some very good saves. But for him we’d be out of the cup now. My MOM. Rodman the best of the rest and did well. The back 3 did well and gave good performances. Rollin had a better second half than first but nearly gave them a goal with a mistaken header. Craig was very good. Our midfield were dominated by Coventry and only came into it in the second half. This put us under pressure all the match No one had a bad match, although Upson missed a tackle to let them in for their first, it was just we gave them too much room and they dominated the middle but weren’t good enough to make it count. Upson was ok but Hargreaves was pretty lightweight and struggled to make an impact and Sercombe played very few, if any, forward passes. Tom N and JCH were too isolated without support and we’re getting frustrated. The shame was Coventry looked vulnerable at the back and had we pressed them more we could have got a result. Overall we didn’t press and allowed them to look better than they were. When we did we scored from the penalty and a few other occasions we did press and made them make mistakes. No one could question the determination of the team and the fact that they gave everything but with all the injuries it was hard to see where the match-winners were. It was a performance like so many this season, we could have won it, we should have lost it but we battled to a draw. Fine lines as always. We are an honest team who will give everything but we don’t have many players of real quality. For all this, it was my first match for over a month and I really enjoyed it. Good to see the players get a good reception from the crowd.
UTG!

Thought Rodman was MOM today won a lot of the ball, distributed well and actiually created quite a bit.

Perhaps GC was able to get the best out of him? Without doubt I’d say. A player who had been around league 1 and the championship loads without setting either alight then suddenly he’s the main target man at a league 1 club , his manager is a close friend and builds a team and tactic around him and it clicked. Great that he scored the pen today keeps his value up but I don’t think he’s got a future here now Cogs has gone.

Did they outplay us twice? Yes once at St Andrews and again today! So do Coventry spend their money more wisely on better footballers, or will they eventually do a Bolton/Bury when they finally lose their case v Coventry Council and run out of money? Just a pity JCH was as interested in the 2nd half when playing in front of his home fans as he was in front of his former club's in the first half. Somehow he's gone from unplayable to another Ryan Brunt since his last injury. JVS' performance must have been the best by a Rovers goalie this season, it was pretty much faultless from the first minute to the last. Evening sorry to get involved in the thread lol but wanted to answer this question. Coventry had almost no players on contracts when Mark Robins took over and we essentially started again in league 2.. We started looking at players from non league and league 1/2 and recruiting mostly under 25s on fair wages for this level. We only live within our means now although we usually have to sell as and when a good offer comes in for a player as we can't refuse. Robins has adopted a philosophy along with viviesh (former Chelsea coach) and all the players buy into it from the day they arrive. Mccallum the left back is 19 from Mickleover, Dabo the right back was from Chelsea academy,Shipley is an academy product, rose was from the Scottish championship and Hyam was to be released from reading... Some of these players have been together a couple years now and it's paying off as we are ever improving, although today we were sloppy at times we always try and stick to Robins way and philosophy. Our wage bill is currently around 2 million pound a season. We recruit very wisely these days Buy young and cheap, sell high is our way now

Nichols was playing as the link man between JCH and the midfield, he was only isolated as he either had a shocker or simply can't play that role. Bennett and Tomlinson seem better suited to that role.
