If you want to compete in this league and even get promoted, you do it by being tough, defending hard and winning ugly. You want a solid spine that runs through your back line with a couple of brutal strikers up front. Thats the sort of mistake all the big teams from the championship make when they fall through the trap door. Trying to play their way out by being better. Look at Wycombe this year and Charlton last year real direct in your face teams. And making a good fist of it. But why its not working for Charlton this year is because skill out ranks battle at that level. Pretty football is for the championship and above where the players are far more technical, hence the pay gap. At this level its good old muck and bullets. Luton, Sheffield United, Wigan and Blackburn all got promoted playing a good style of football. Shef U were strong and talented. A bit like Southampton when they went up. Blackburn the same. Luton and Wigan did play very good football with a definate L1 squad. Plenty of others and mainly others have stayed down a while. Portsmouth, Sunderland, Leeds, Charlton have all had extended stays longer than they thought And even Ipswich aren’t having it all their own way.

I just find it odd, there was this exact same outcry about Coughlan after our third game into the season, Gaschat can be a very reactionary place to be. People need some perspective, i.e. you should give a manager longer than 16 days to prove himself, if we don't then by the end of the season we'll have had around 6 or 7 new managers. It's fine to have doubts, but going "What's your excuse now boys??" really is stupid. The trouble is that it looks bad from the outset when he's turned a winning side into one that's loosing as soon as he arrived. I'm happy give him time to turn things round but it's easy to see why people aren't happy when our season looked so promising a few weeks ago. I get the feeling this season has been written off by the club already and we are planning for the long term. It's just odd, people saying "there'll undoubtedly be a slump in form" and "this is a long-term appointment" and then giving him only 16 days to work wonders on an injury filled squad, tonight isn't different, he could've won the game by playing our best team, instead he experimented and now he'll know that we need a RB and that Victor and Bennett shouldn't play again, Kelly needs a loan too etc. But doesn't the fact Barrett played so well tonight illustrate maybe Garner has the right targets in mind and will build us to success in the long-term, this isn't Garner's team after all.

Sounds like we are celebrating with a Dominos anyway! This wouldn’t have happened on Graham’s watch. Seriously

The other thing is judging by some of the tweets from the players post Ipswich they had no clue that Coughlan was about to jump ship. Can't imagine morale is all that high at the moment seeing as we had a good thing going.

And for all those kicking off, you just wait until the new manager bounce wears off. This is we were never going to.have a new manager bounce as bizarrely ours jumped ship when we were top of the form table. I feel sorry for Garner as he had to hit the ground running or the knives would instantly be out. This whole situation is that tosser Coughlan's fault. Do you mean that tosser that saved us from relegation, got us into a promotion position and was huge in the transfer market? The one who left because he actually wanted to live with his family? If that's a tosser I would be proud to be one.

Could have waited until the end of the season or not started this one in the first place. Talks a good game about no one ever giving him a chance so when he finally gets one he shows absolutely zero loyalty and leaves at the earliest opportunity.

If he wanted to leave he should have been a MAN and left in the summer or finished this season off. I wish nothing but the worst for that guy.

I don't really buy into long-term visions in the lower league. Surely it's about the here and now and recruiting a manager who can lead and motivate a team of men and ultimately win games of football. He's inherited a winning team who looked very hard to beat and so far it's been far from great. People understandably will be asking questions and whilst I agree it's far too soon to categorically write off his chances of success, I think it's fair to raise queries around what we've seen so far.

Was out this evening so I missed the game, thankfully. I was at the theatre in Chichester to see the Live stage version of 'I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue' - pretty appropriate it seems.

Well that was poor - no, water poor!! We have wasted a great opportunity to get some money into the coffers, a Wembley appearance could have got us a decent signing in the summer. I am still in the camp of supporting the manager, but only just. He needs to move on from talking a good game & finding positives to actually getting results & IMO tonight’s result lays solely at his door, and I hope he puts his hands up & admits he got it wrong & apart from unloading one or two after that, there is no positives whatsoever. Obviously Nichols has played his last game & I would have thought Bennett & Adeboyejo have too, but all the uncertainty is not helping with a new system, if we can call it that. We can forget any dreams of a play off if this continues. Not true re money. This competition makes no money at all until at least area final and even then it would depend on meeting the right team at the right time. Getting to national final is still a relatively long shot. Only a 1 in 24 chance. FA cup is where the money is. We've earnt a lot from that and it is worth prioritising. This is a good stage to leave this cup.

As frustrating as another loss was tonight, Ben G has acquired a class player in Barrett. A player to build a side around I would say, once the dead wood has been drafted out.

I played football with Samantha from ISIHAC once. She wanted to have a look at my long balls and kept encouraging me to get in the box, then she pulled me off at half time.

Can’t argue about the FA Cup, but this trophy & the stage we were at, had a potential for a Wembley final. Irrespective of who we might have played, I would have been amazed if we didn’t take 25000+. Some fans might not like the competition but the club should be looking at winning every game, a victory tonight would have given a lift to the team & fans alike after the last few weeks. Might have added a few more to the gate on Sat.
