Today's Top Tips: If you haven't already got one I'd recommend buying a Bread Making Machine. You can buy the mixes ready made, and usually you just add water to the mix. It has the added bonus of having that beautiful bakery smell in the house. Freshly baked bread has a better smell than any artificial fragrance for the house. I've had one for years and you can make some really good different types of bread in them. Planning on decorating somewhere in the house this year? Now is a good time to buy the paint/brushes etc before all the shops are closed. If you have to isolate for two weeks, start planning now for things to do. Painting the Living Room while stuck at home for two weeks seems to be a good thing to keep you occupied. Anyone have any other good tips regarding things to do while isolating? We have used a bread maker for years and agree the taste and smell is lovely. We also make our own soups on occasions. Because we are always likely to be called to hospital we try and keep 1-2 weeks worth of groceries in the cupboards anyway. My wife has visions me doing the garden at the moment which needs some tlc after the winter. Asked wend to get some flour and yeast from tescos today none on the ruddy shelf, no bog roll either, but on a different note if people are struggling with something to wipe with, buy some blue workshop paper Workshop towels then just cut em in 1/2 ive had to do it a few times , or revisit your childhood newspaper squares held together with string. i miss the feeling of the outside privvy at 6am in winter time

In response to Innee I have a condition whereby i have to force my muscles to work , or else i tend to seize up. I would normally visit the gym 3/4 times a week , but its a catch 22 by the way of leaving myself open to picking up the virus I use this, it is a Senior work out and great if you have to self isolate. Also exercises whilst in a chair. Don't know if they will be suitable for you?

The Facebook article shown in the second picture is fake news, they aren't even British vehicles and are taken from the wrong side of the road. Any assistance will be drivers and specialists not for enforcing curfews.

The Facebook article shown in the second picture is fake news, they aren't even British vehicles and are taken from the wrong side of the road. Any assistance will be drivers and specialists not for enforcing curfews. First off, I think Italy has shown that locking down a single city or area does not work. It worked in China because they have a government that says it will shoot you if you don't follow instructions. We do not live like that! There are too many people moving in and out of London on a daily basis for it to work.
As for the hysteria regarding troops, the EP should know better than putting out trash news like this. As Stuart has pointed out, the photo is fake. Secondly, Army/Navy/RAF units will be mobilized. Certainly units like Logistics and Medical would be first up. I would only expect to see troops on the ground to help relieve pressure on the Police. For example we may see one Police Officer with a soldier patrolling somewhere like an airport, thereby giving the opportunity for one Police Officer to be deployed elsewhere. The same for outside Embassies etc. Some may be deployed to assist the Fire Service. You will not see armed soldiers on the streets.

Thanks to both of you for clearing that up. Note to self, delete Bristol Evening Post as a source of local news

Waiting to hear some more info on what the company I work for our planning for. Some people already working at home, but business is through the floor obviously and won't get any better the longer it goes on
One moment you think we will pull through and the next you fear the worst. Not great for the mental health. Hard sat in the office with no mojo or to concentrate on the work you do have. Who want's to get stuck into looking at the things that need sorting in the books when there is no cash coming in.
Going to be a tough time for us all.
Hope Governments can come through for everyone that needs it
Stay safe everybody

I think a lot companies will use this as an excuse to cut the dross, horrible thought but more than likely.

Like to think I would be okay, 15 years in the gig can do a bit of everything and have the knowledge of the company in the TARDIS like brain, but you never know.
Try to tell the wife not to worry. Obviously has her own job concerns and we have two young kids. Sure many people feel the same way.
Keep on keeping on and all that. Sure most of us will get through it one way or another. You do wonder whether this will be a wake up call to everyone from people to Governments about how we operate as a society

If you feel your mental health is suffering a bit pm me and we can have a chinwag on the phone as i don't know you it will probably be easier for you to vent, Anything you say will be in strictest confidence i have a dark morbid sense of humour so will not be offended at anything anyone says to me, If you feel you need to talk but wont talk to someone on here then these guys are always there have various ways to contact them SAMARITANS CALL 116 123, i would suggest everyone puts that number in your phone as it will help many people in the coming months. I would also advise people to find something to do if you have to stay home, as keeping busy will help some

Well, with the mayhem on the Stock Markets, my company are actually raking in the money ! It's been unreal the last few weeks. For those that don't know, I work for a Stock Exchange. Customers use our platforms/software/services to trade. Every single trade incurs a cost that the customer has to pay. That is how a Stock Exchange makes it's money. Daily Trading volumes have gone through the roof with all records being broken !

He is, and to be honest I have only heard good things about him. He was in line to be the Chief of Defence Staff but it's felt that he lost out because he was a Royal Marine, and instead the post went to an Army bod, Carter, who has not been doing that well.

Carter has been a disappointment but is due to move on soon. Magowan may get it but RMs tend to be overlooked which is a shame as they are ideal for joint force understanding. Carlton-Smith will probably get the post though, although his reputation in Afghanistan and elsewhere is much better. Look out for Adm Jerry Kyd in a few years.
