Question. I assume the tier level a City or region is given depends on what, r rate? Let's say Bristol as of 2nd December is tier 3. What happens if on the 3rd the r rate drops so much we could have been in tier 1? How soon and how easily do tiers get allocated? If it's not r rate there must be figures they go by to allocate tiers. Does that make any sense? "The allocation of tiers is dependent on various factors related to how the area is coping with Covid-19 infections. This includes infection rates, reproduction rates (also known as the “R” number or how many people one infected person passes the virus on to), and the current and projected pressures faced by local NHS departments. Tier allocations will be reviewed every 14 days. While there may be an easing of restrictions over the Christmas period - the details of this are expected to be announced this week - the government has said that the regional approach to restrictions will be in place until March." www.independent.co.uk/life-style/tiers-decided-how-covid-lockdown-b1760835.html-- Not sure if you can jump from 1 to 3 or visa versa, I doubt it though as I think it's uncommon for an area to jump so wildly?

Right. Thanks. So 2 weeks minimum before any tier change, if possible. Got it.

How often are the tier levels changed? And on what set of figures do the government make those changes? Who knows...

It just seems like that, mate. We`ll get there. If winter comes, can spring be far behind? I'm missing the pub. I'm missing going on holiday. I`m not so fussed about the holidays. It`s not like I was constantly jetting around the world, like an F1 driver. I`m supposed to be off to Poland for a week in May, with my father in law, and I`m quietly hopeful that things will have returned to a level of normal by then, to allow this to happen. Got to admit, I do miss sitting in the pub catching up on all the news with my friends. Very much so. I just try and take care of the things that need sorting from day to day, and not think too much about events beyond my control. The consensus of opinion does seem to be that we`re heading in the right direction now. I know it all seems awful now, but when it is over I think that most people will look back and be glad that they were around at such a time, to experience it all. Comrades of war. Sort of.

Lewis Goodall :
BREAK: Today’s total of UK Covid deaths is greater than yesterday’s. 696- the most we’ve seen since the start of May
BREAK: The UK reports 608 Covid deaths in the last 24 hours. Though Tuesday figures can be artificially high following lags in weekend reporting, this is still the biggest daily total for deaths since 12th May.

Bristol going into tier 3. Great. I was hoping they`d reopen the pubs, before I become an alcoholic.

Great. I was hoping they`d reopen the pubs, before I become an alcoholic. Still, I'm saving a boat load of cash. Restaurants here in France will not open until at least 20th January. As yet bars will not open before 20th January and as yet no future date beyond 20th has even been considered. So it looks like the buying of boxes of wine and beers from the supermarket continues for another 2 months.

Not that it makes any difference to me as there's no way I'm buying a 2 course meal just to have a beer and there's no way I'm sitting outside either.

Personally not bothered about pubs opening, as long as the government support the landlords and employees.
Can handle more lockdown but there needs to be some progress from government, Johnson talking his sh1te about the vaccine calvary on its way when the track and trace system is an absolute f**king drain & joke.
Is there any support for those suffering from excessive mental illness due to lockdown? That should absolutely be a priority amongst other related issues.
Not really getting a sense of community through all this other than a round of claps and fireworks, but that doesn't really suprise me.

Not really missing the pub to go drinking (although I do enjoy that) but I am missing having a chat and a laugh with the other regulars and staff. Not had a conversation with someone other than my Father in a month.

Not had a conversation with someone other than my Father in a month. That's the struggle. If you go to the park and start conversations with people you'll probably be labelled the local nutter, everyone is in a rush to be somewhere. At the pub or footy you can freely find anyone to chat about any old sh1te (if you wanted too). Not much to replace that ATM.
