In the past few months I've seen many posts on here trumpeting what a great job Sturgeon was doing in handling the virus and using it as a stick to beat the UK Government with. All is strangely silent now we see that death rates are 25% higher in Scotland than England, why so ?

Englands is still higher overall. They are having a bad time of it at the moment though. Their care homes got hit worse than even ours did.
Both lots dropped the ball in the summer and implemented too little too late as the second week hit. So now more deaths and longer lockdown. Useless.
Not sure I understand why Scotland doing so badly is a great reason to revel in some kind of political victory myself. People rightly said they handled the first wave better, and statistically they did. I dont think anybody has said the same for their handling this wave, so as a point scoring exercise I must admit I dont see the point myself.
Its not a race to the morgue is it.

Tbh I don't even remember seeing these "many posts" in this thread. But this seems to happen a lot really, any sort of bad news from another country and it's basically an excuse to sweep our own failings under the carpet. And this has happened many times, being 3rd worst is considered a success - because 2 others did worse than us. Those are the standards this government have brought us to.

We already knew of the governments criminally awful covid response, but worth a reminder.
Bottom of the league in most regards, this is just with the G7.

They done a good job protecting are elderly, and took back control of are economy π¬π§π¬π§π¬π§π¬π§ God save the royals (unsarcastically, I wonder if they know there is a pandemic on and their loyal citizens are lining up at food banks)

Have you also looked how badly Scotland has done particularly in protecting their elderly in Care Homes, don't think that's down to the Westminster Government, interesting that it's all on this small Island wonder if population density has a lot to do with it.?

Nobody is point scoring I think is important is looking at all parts of the UK in the round and before declaring victory and what a great job Sturgeon has done we need to see the end of the pandemic then analyse the data etc.

I dont see anyone declaring victory in these threads and we all know the UK (Scotland included) has an abysmal record. Unless we somehow miraculously manage to manoeuvre ourselves in to a better position than anywhere else in the next 5 months I cant see that changing can you?

Poor old Wales. As of Friday, pubs and restaurants must shut at 6pm and none of them are allowed to serve alcohol.

Can someone help with a bit of Maths and potential timescales? Vaccine. Fairly safe to assume first on the list are over 80's, NHS and Social Care workers. According to Google, UK stats, 3.2 million over 80, 1.4 million in NHS and 1.6 million in Social Care. That's a total of 6.2 million people.
Now, if we assume, any of the vaccines that have been developed get the go ahead in what, 4 weeks? How long before I, being 51, would be able to get mine?
And if anyone's got the Euro Millions winning numbers for tonight that would be great.
