Working in a job for nigh on 16 hour days, 6, 7 days a week, with little or no protection against a virus that's killed 120,000 people so far. Yea, that's odd. Why not be constructive for once in your life and challenge the rest of post rather than just the last sentence. 16 hour days 6/7 days a week - bullshit and you know it. Flag waving Tory strikes again.

Amazing - anyone that challenges the resident gang ( we’ve got another one !!! ) gets shouted down. The poster that has to have his posting edited by a mod and has no challenge - sums this pitiful site up - you’re pathetic the lot of you. I try to be constructive and get into some sort of debate which you find difficult because I don't have your agenda and I get shouted down by the usual suspects. I thought I’d come back and give it a go - but no, a waste of time.- and strangely I’m talking from experience - most of you lot ar’nt.

I'll tell ya, honestly, I'm burned out. Cynical, depressed, you name it. 16 hour days are not uncommon for me or thousands of my colleagues. Its been horrendous. Money or not, I think if you spoke to anyone dealing with the actual pandemic first hand and the toll that has taken, you'd think again before suggesting its some kind of dream position that people would jump at the chance to do. At least you try to be constructive OB - what do you do ? I have total respect for what you guys are doing.

Sorry you feel like that, I too had a pop the other night and I hope you saw my apology. I'm a moody bugger at the mo.

It seems to me you made a post, people commented and you didn't like their reply and have got defensive because you made an insensitive comment. Baggins said "bit odd" and you've gone off on one swearing at him and calling posters pathetic. I asked a question and FranceGas replied with the opposing view and there was no argument or toys thrown out the pram, so I'm a bit confused why

Thanks for clarifying, wasn't acting dumb - GC is moderated now and I've edited a few posts recently (on the entire forum) that seemed distasteful. Hence the confusion. Will drop you a PM.

Blueridge honest question , why do you think you’re being ganged up on ? Are you saying anyone with an opposing view to yours is wrong ? Oldgas used this line and others on the right have on here . I’m a bit baffled , should your opinions and point of view just be accepted and not challenged? have we just got shut up , keep quiet and cheer on the gov because they’re doing their best ? Or are you just playing games , having a laugh and winding us up by getting upset , losing your rag and storming off periodically? I’m confused , explain .

Aggressive much? Forget it. Back up what you’re saying - but you can’t can you? I know several nurses, who are working long hours, 16/17 hours a day, for 6 days a week with some doing the extra 7th day overtime shift, who have struggled for ppe right from the beginning although it's much better now, and the virus has killed 120,000 people. If you still see that as "bullshit" as you so nicely put it, that's your problem. I hope you see this as me writing something constructive for the first time in my life?

Thanks for the clarification, I don’t see it as a problem and I agree all nursing staff in particular are doing a fantastic job, as are members of my family. Working 16/17 hours a day over 6/7 days is unsustainable (and dangerous) over a long period of time. There is a legal limit within this country (unless you opt out) that you are only allowed to work for 48 hours maximum on average per week, over a 17 week period. I’m not sure if the Government could waive this, even it wanted to, as it is law. The point I was trying to make which you didn’t respond to directly (but through another poster) was, there will be/are thousands of people wanting work and the NHS offers full time employment and a pension - I’m sure there are many who would take the opportunity to work for the NHS if they could - is that an odd statement to make as you suggested?

Classic case of reading a statement rather than being face to face with the person saying it. To me, your first statement (to which I replied yea, odd) read as though the NHS was a great place to work with great benefits. The oddness for me is that, at the moment, it probably isn't - extended hours, few breaks, high risk of infection and watching so many die - including colleagues - and to top it all off, the offer of only a 1% pay rise. Now, reading what you said again, for a lot of people who have lost their job due to the virus, any job would be good, I can see that.

How are the parents on here feeling about kids going back tomorrow?
Seems like there is a real issue with the lateral flow test with 1/3 showing a false positive (not sure if that’s 1/3 of all tests or 1/3 of positive tests) meaning people then have to take a PCR.
Saw last night though that even when testing negative for the PCR, test & trace are still making them isolate for a week..
Could get messy

If any scenario will see cases drastically rise again it's schools opening with little to no protection.

Could get messy Schools have to go back at some point, it’s too important to ignore. Although I can see a nationwide meltdown being pushed by the media when cases inevitably rise as a result.
