I agree with you Gassy, folk on TV bleating that the government changed Portugals status at the last minute, hang on they've got 5 days,it was made clear that this could happen and ffs the evidence was there from last year. If anyone goes it's at their risk. And yet they let flights in from India for 2 weeks after it was discovered here. That kind of grates. Aye think it only delayed the inevitable as it's popping up all over the world, even in places that have had no flights .

Not saying there's something wrong with the stats, but it's strange that every site that comes up on a Google search has different figures. Or, a different way of interpreting the figures. Regarding your vaccine, have you actually been contacted with a date yet? Reason I ask is 2 of the Girls I know who work in the local, 1 is 27 and the other 21, were both contacted mid week with their first jab appointment and I think it's not far off - a week maybe? Both via text. Stupid question, but your mobile phone number is up to date with your registered Surgery yes? Nope not contacted yet and number is up to date. Had a couple of mates who're a few months younger and they've received their vaccine or text, but I'm guessing its dependent on the area you live in? When I try to book on the NHS website tells me im not yet eligible Give your gp a ring on Monday if I were you and ask what age they are now vaccinating at your surgery.I was missed out (it happens a lot) and I only knew when the missus was texted her appointment as she is 5 years younger than me.

But…… if we’d of delayed it coming and had much lower numbers we would / could of used that valuable time to vaccinate more people. Therefore, the upturn in positive cases would undoubtedly be lower . We wouldn’t have to delay “freedom day” and all the financial implications that has . 🙄

Government weighing up options. This bit caught my eye; "The comments come after data from the Francis Crick Institute suggested reducing the gap between vaccine doses was more effective, with a study finding that after one Pfizer jab, people are less likely to develop antibody levels against the Delta variant as high as those seen against the previously dominant Kent (Alpha) strain." Essentially if we weren't facing the Delta/Indian variant then great, but as we are there are possible adjustments or staggering of unlocking needed. news.sky.com/story/government-drawing-up-other-options-as-it-weighs-ending-lockdown-on-21-june-12325353

I'm no expert but as I understand it, there is a concern over the numbers increasing and there is always a time lag. Speaking with the staff in hospital, the 'winter bugs' didn't come in the usual numbers in the winter but that is increasing now we are unlocking. For the sake of another few weeks I would prefer to wait and unlock a bit slower. We've managed this long, be a shame to waste all that effort for an arbitrary date. Mind you, I'm trying to avoid a family wedding coming up, the longer the numbers attending are capped at 30 the easier it is for me to decline the invitation. 🤫

Uncomoftable collars and drunk relatives you haven't seen for years. Can't think of a better reason for full lockdown.

Kate Bingham in line for a Damehood according to the Telegraph, stumbled across this interview which I thought was interesting. Couple of snippets: "It was actually Sir Patrick Vallance, the Chief Scientific Adviser, who set up a task force. The Vaccine Taskforce was his idea and he could see basically the progress that was being made in manufacturing outside government with all these companies that got together voluntarily. That's why he said they need to be able to interact with a government body so that we can actually pull this together. That's why he then created the vaccine taskforce. I think Boris did a good job to agree to Patrick's advice and to allow us to operate in a nimble way, because it's not easy for government to basically put in place an investment committee that will meet quickly and make quick decisions." "If I called and said we need to have a decision on this in 24 hours, we had a decision in 24 hours. I think that is unusual. It is true to say I was not keen on bureaucracy." "The first thing that was the quickest – the MHRA registered the vaccine under European law, so there was no change. Any other European country could have registered the vaccine under European law, using their own regulator. So in Germany, the Paul Ehrlich Institut could have done exactly the same thing. So that was not to do with Brexit." www.google.com/amp/s/www.repubblica.it/cronaca/2021/02/07/news/kate_bingham_interview_vaccines_covid_astrazeneca_uk_coronavirus_johnson-286384093/amp/

So now I have to take a gamble and pick where to go first on my way back home this summer! Spain is opening this week to vaccinated non EU travelers, as it France. Last week there was talk about how the Spanish and Greek islands should make the green list. Obviously that all went out of the window but if June 21st is successful and they do decide to add some more countries to the green list a few days later then I guess the islands will have a good chance of making it. I'll be gutted if I pick one that stays amber and the other goes green!

Spoke to one of the Girls at the local I mentioned the other day. She's 27. She had a text at 2am (yes, 2am), last week, to say she is now clear to go online and book her appointment. She did, first thing the next morning, her 1st jab is June 15th. Pfizer.

It’s a bit confusing, there are some areas like Twickenham and Harrow that are having open invite of vaccines for all ages, then you have your mates at the pub. My mum was saying to me the other day that my step dad, despite being a few years younger, has already had his 2nd jab brought forward but hers still sits at 12 weeks. I guess in the grand scheme of things though, these are pretty minor things to complain about tbf

Personally, I would continue to call your local Surgery and/or keep at the online system.

Well I can finally book my vaccine. Just on the website now, starting 5,029th in the queue and it said it'll be about a 10 minute wait. 10 minutes later and I can confirm I'm now 6,137th
