I’m hearing that there’ll be a lockdown 25th October for 2 weeks, coinciding with half term end and asking schools to stay shut until 8th November.

Unsure if full lockdown or just schools, came from a colleague who’s wife works in education and said that schools have told to be prepared for a potential lockdown/home education for the first 2 weeks of the new term

Flu season is becoming a concern too. "Sajid Javid has told Sky News he is "concerned" that the UK could witness a bad flu season due to there being "a lot less immunity" around to the virus because of the COVID restrictions that were in place last winter. The health secretary said the government is preparing to roll out "the biggest flu vaccination programme this country has ever seen" following concerns that many more elderly and vulnerable people could contract the virus than that did last year. Mr Javid added that, for those over 50, "getting your flu jab is going to be as important as having your COVID jab"." news.sky.com/story/sajid-javid-warns-of-possible-bad-flu-season-due-to-concerning-levels-of-immunity-following-covid-restrictions-last-winter-12406108

Government pulls agreement with Valneva over its vaccine
Some 100 million doses of the French pharmaceutical company's vaccine were put on order after the UK upped its request by 40 million in February.
In a statement, Valneva said: "Valneva SE, a specialty vaccine company, today announced that it has received a termination notice from the UK Government (HMG) in relation to the Supply Agreement for its COVID-19 vaccine candidate, VLA2001.
"The contract provides HMG with the right to terminate. HMG has alleged that the company is in breach of its obligations under the supply agreement, but the company strenuously denies this."
The vaccine candidate is currently in Phase 3 trials, the firm said, with results due in the fourth quarter.
"Subject to these data and MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) approval, Valneva believes that initial approval for VLA2001 could be granted in late 2021," the company added.

So over 50s are now to get another dose of the vaccine, but this time it'll be Pfizer.
I thought they weren't giving Pfizer to over 40 year olds?
