It only effects those kinky, promiscuous gays, so really the WHO should probably just ignore it. Spoken like a true blue. I thought that. Quite shocked at those comments from France. I'm not.

For a virus that YOU have no chance of catching. It would appear to be an emergency for one particular demographic so I see nothing wrong in WHO treating it as such.

For God's sake guys I said it tongue in cheek. Do we all really think the WHO need to declare a global emergency for a virus that we virtually have 0% in catching. I mean, I’d trust their opinion much more than anyone on here? I bet most people thought the same about Covid at the time, which they declared in January 2020 - 2 months before our first lockdown and only 1 day after the first UK Covid case. There have been over 2000 cases of monkey pox in the UK already. The list of emergencies they’ve declared: 2022 – Monkeypox 2020 – Covid-19 2018-20 – Kivu Ebola 2016 – Zika virus 2014 – Ebola 2014 – Polio 2009 – Swine flu How many of those are you likely to catch? Globally, do you think they’re not/were not serious diseases to be aware of? For clarity: “The designation means the WHO now views the outbreak as a significant enough threat to global health that urgent action is required to stop it spreading further and potentially escalating into a pandemic. The declaration is designed to trigger international response, and could lead to funding to collaborate on sharing vaccines and treatments. Under the 2005 International Health Regulations (IHR), states have a legal duty to respond promptly to a PHEIC.” What part of that would you disagree with? Or you’d rather they ignore it because straight loyal westerners are unlikely do be effected?

Are we at the stage of 'remember Covid and lockdown?' and chuckling ironically, or is it still a thing?
I've seen various studies, one of which I participated in, are being closed down now.

For sure finding has dried up. I was telling a sponsor a few months ago that if they wanted to crack on with their phase 3 then they need to stop delaying before the interest goes. They took ages and in the end just cancelled the phase 3 as they couldn’t get funding anymore. They wasted tens of millions on those trials that they’ll find very difficult to pay investors back.
