I thought this was our best performance under BG the scoreline flattered Sunderland imo and was mainly down to refs decisions. We played some good moves and our ball skills have improved. Special mention for Rollin I thought he had a very good game. Did you go today Al ?

Yes the red changed the game. Of course we still could have conceded and lost with eleven men but we will never know! What is disappointing is how we fell apart far too easily after the first goal. It’s funny how we also talk about how we struggle to break down ten men (until last weekend anyway!) yet our opponents never have any problem beating us when we loose a player! Lose lose lose it’s not got two fuck1ng oo’s it’s got 1 . It’s lose guys..... read L .... O..... S ...... E !!!! This wateres me off more than the defeat. Loose bloody trousers ..... I expect us to lose today ! Thanks 😊 I think you are in danger of loosing it a little here.

isn't this ref that Rovers complained to the fa about because of always sending Rovers players off? Did we really do that?! How embarrassing. I know people on here love a moan about the referee every week, irrespective of the result but that's a bit childish by the club. He sent Sincs off. I think that settles the issue of whether he's fit to referee or not.

I haven't seen the game but from the reports we were well in it until the red card. Having heard BG's post match it sounds as though we were a bit unfortunate with the 2nd goal which ultimately killed us off. Officially retiring from match thread duties

Our goal ratio under BG is simply not good enough.JCH on his own up front and even his goals have dried up.Sorry.Not optimistic.Only one league win and the poorest strike rate in our history I should think.

Love to see that red card again decision. Their player seemed to run into Ogogo and made the most of it. To be honest, they were theatrical all over the pitch, that putting it nicely. f**king cheats. Just got back to hotel, it was perishing cold and unbelievable wind, anyway there player tripped Bas, and he turned and kicked there player, ref had no choice. He should have stopped the game when our 2 collided and 1 had head injury. Trainer came on pitch while game still going it was that bad. Then ref walked over to trainer had an argument and booked him, possibly for encroachment.

I have watched the red card incident several times...can't see any sign of 'kicking out'. Anyone know why he was sent off?

It's the amount we are letting in Staffs as well. GC didn't score many but the defence was tight. Our gd is -10 you have to go six places down the table to find a worse one.

It does sound like they have become a nasty 'professional' unit, however Ogogo only has himself to blame by the sound of it, and their 'shithousery' to quote their forum worked. Ogogo should be fined the maximum as he effectively ensured we lost that game today, and has put the squad under pressure for the next three games. Our players have to be clever enough not to react

Our goal ratio under BG is simply not good enough.JCH on his own up front and even his goals have dried up.Sorry.Not optimistic.Only one league win and the poorest strike rate in our history I should think. JCH was brilliant alongside Tom Nichols. The only time In his career that he’s been prolific. When we put TN up for sale I said it was a massive mistake and we should play JCH and Nichols up front together for the rest of the season because over the last 12 months they had been a good partnership and our form was the second best in league 1 over that 12 month period and we were still in or around the top 6 at that point. I obviously got shot down on here for saying this but perhaps now more can see it. It wasn’t broken it didn’t need fixing. I can understand Garner wanting us to play through more rather than going so direct , he’s got his own philosophy fair enough but I feel we could have done that with Johnson and Nichols up front and made it work just as well as it was working possibly even better. None of this is hindsight I’ve been saying it for months and to be honest I’m surprised Garner having “ seen all our matches “ couldn’t see it. I’m not saying Garner won’t work long term but he’s torn up the three things that made us tick and punch well above our weight ( in my opinion we’ve got a mid to lower table possible relegation squad ) These things are. 1. 3-5-2 - all our defenders / wingbacks are more comfortable playing in this formation than 4-3-3 2. Playing direct - we are much more suited to playing direct as we have no calm ball players in the squad , particulary the midfield which is where the best patient passing sides tend to dominate, to play a more patient approach. 3. Taking JCHs partner away and sending him on loan to a league 2 club when they clearly had a good partnership that were consistently creating chances for the team and we were on a 12 month run of fantastic form and looking good for a top 6 finish. All of our strengths have been taken away - and now we’re playing to our weaknesses. I do however think that Garner should be given to the end of the season to get us winning football matches and the reasons for that - because he’s a well respected coach in the game , he’s been given a transfer window and he made some interesting changes in that window , he had a bad start because of family issues- and were not in any danger of getting relegated. If things haven’t improved by the end of the season then it’ll be put down to a season of two half’s and a mistake by our board in giving a young coach our managers job when what we needed was a strong head in charge who had leadership skills when there was absolute zero leadership from board and ownership level. If it’s the latter then We can then have a pre season and transfer window with a new manager and go again next season. To be honest though I think having a Coughlan type manager is the way forward because our board and owner are so far from being leaders at our club what we really need is a tough leader in management of the team because without that our club is a rudderless ship drifting to who knows where. Possibly relegation.

There was no kick out there. The Geordie player cheated and the ref bottled it in front of the big crowd. The usual issue of lower division refs playing up to the big clubs. Remember Blackburn away?

Regardless of what the ref did or didn’t do we lost and the stats will show that in the future, still BG s winning run (7days) was good whilst it lasted Where do we go from here though

Possibly relegation. I agree with much of this. Under BG, and with our facilities and budget, my fear is that we are unable to attract/afford players of the type and calibre required to play the BG way successfully. We will end up with younger cheaper players that are potentially future stars, but won't be strong enough. We could end up being, effectively, a Championship/lower Premier League U23 side - pretty to watch but losing most weeks.

Ok just saw the highlights and Ogogo has clearly reacted and kicked out at their player. Yes their player goes down holding his head and Ogogo hasn’t struck his head but Abu should know better than to react like that off the ball. Asking for a red card only got himself to blame. If I was the ref it would be a red for Ogogo and a yellow for their player for play acting.

10 men or 11 men red card or not, you can’t come On the radio/social media and say that you know Sunderland’s weakness and that your going to exploit that... and follow that with 1 shot on target (3 mins) and zero corners and expect to get anything out of a game. Maybe garner should watch what Chris wilders doing and actually try and impose his own style and not sit back and play the (wait for someone to score game) you could tell even in garners pre match interview that he showed Sunderland far too much respect, there in this league for the same reason that were in this division. Yet all he could talk about was there infrastructure. Would wilder mention that if he played Sunderland in the cup?
