A 100 % player always gave his all, is he another one who has worked it out that its a waste of time playing for a manager who is as inspirational as a bag of cement. Gave up a testimonial as well to get out of the club, can't be a happy place to be at the moment, local boy would have been well supported. At least Mansfield have their new shirt out, I wonder when ours is going to be launched. I wish him well,Rovers through and through Sincs always gave 110% but some times that's not enough, the fact OC's content to drop a league suggests he probably knows he's not really up to L1 football at the moment, I doubt a testimonial match behind closed doors will bring in the £'s this year! To me it suggests he has got a far better bond with our former manager compared to our current one. That's no reflection on either character mind, we all get motivated in different ways and his decision could have been influenced by the contrasting management styles.

Well I would suggest it was down to the size & level of the contract and the game playing time at both clubs. I don't think he would have had guaranteed playing time with rovers. Good move all round.

Horfield has never posted anything positive, about the club, board, managers or players.

You have done well there … So much negativity and error in so few lines... Let's analyse your comments... 1. 100 % player who always gave his all … Do you go to the games … How many times did games pass him by - You see him walking around the midfield struggling to get into a game - misplace a pass again and again. Its one thing to 'give your all' but if you are not good enough you are being carried by the rest of your team. 2. 'Bag of cement inspirational Manager ' … How many team talks have you sat in on - Training sessions attended ? Bet you stroke your goose about him if he does get some momentum going next season. 3. Gave up a testimonial - Could you share the details of what had been agreed for his big night - Who were we playing ? What other money making plans were there ? 4. Cant be a happy place - What have you heard negative - ? Players out of contract leaving ? Players not in the managers plans leaving ? 5. Local boy well supported - What do you reckon - couple of thousand ? He got a fair amount of match day abuse for his 100% effort - not so sure about a 'full house' saluting him. 6. Mansfield shirt launched - Bet we have a new one when the season starts - What do you reckon ? How many of the past seasons have you bought ? 7. Rovers through and through - Agree with that bit - well he is Mansfield through and through now. If we haven't brought anyone in before the weekend at least you can have another moan - How the Fan base has changed over the years !!

Spot on. We offered him a one year deal on properly reducted wages, while Mansfield gave him a 2 year deal on the same or maybe even higher wages then he was already on here. He no doubt knew his time was up here and was going to be abit time player next season and lose the captain armband as well. I would have liked to see him stay as a squad player and due to his history with us, but for both him and us its a good thing thats it didn't happen. All the best Clarky!

Ollie was going a bit stale here imo and needs a change of scenery to kick on.
He may be good enough for L1 eventually but not with us unfortunately. I feel we need better to challenge at the top end of L1, but wish the lad all the best.
Plenty of better options available if we can find them and lure them here.

In some schools if you are a newly qualified teacher they give you the younger kids to teach because (hopefully) they will not give you too much trouble. Is this whats going on at Rovers? Any player who might question the manager could cause trouble and therefore they are "managed" out of the door.
Is this what is going on?

From the Mansfield site Manager Graham Coughlan told “Ollie is a top player who has showed his capabilities in League One. “I’ve brought him to Mansfield because of his character, work-rate, attitude, commitment and honesty; Ollie epitomises everything about Mansfield Town Football Club. “I think he’ll be a real fans’ favourite here, like he has been at Bristol Rovers in the past ten seasons.” After signing, Ollie said: “I worked with the manager last season, along with Joe Dunne (assistant manager), and really enjoyed it. “As soon as I spoke to them, and I knew they were interested, I just wanted to get the deal done. “I like the way he [Graham Coughlan] works and trust his views on the game, and this is a club which is looking to progress. They were big factors in me coming here.”

He always came across as an honourable man who always tried to do right by the club and players. Now he's stitched is up twice, which just goes to show what a bad judge of people I am 😕 We've only the BP saying GC came in at the last minute, plus it was only ever the BP who said OC was close to signing a contract, if OC's kept in touch with GC why would he leave it to the last day, I wouldn't be surprised if this deals been on the cards for months, whether Rovers knew is anybody's guess but we can hardly accuse GC of stiching us up if an L2 club has outbid us for our captain! That's true, we do only have the BP's word, although I doubt they just made it up. If it has been on the cards for some time, then it's bad that Ollie strung the club along until the last minute and then upped and left. I think the BP's stories are far more likely myself.

The Radfords do like chucking money at trying to achieve what they want. Personally I wouldn't have even offered Ollie another contract. Has about 5 bad games for every decent one. Not consistent enough to get us where we should be aiming.

From Ollie's comments, it sounded more like linking back up with Coughlan and having a bit of a change from so many years at Rovers were the main draws. I'm sure he's on a decent contract over there though.

Good luck to him but there are better players out there especially at the moment

Can't say I am surprised that he's signed for Mansfield. IMO back to his standard-an average League 2 player. His good games for us have been heavily outweighed by poor ones and the move is best fo9r both parties.I wouldnt have minded him staying as a squad player but now I await with interest to see the midfield players we get in to replace both him and Sercombe. Midfield has been the weakest area of the pitch for too long.
