Not a good appointment in my opinion. Ben Garner is in his first proper job (academy doesn’t count Ben) and needs support from an experienced head. This guy is basically in the same position. The lead two (manager and assistant) should at worst be a blend of experienced and inexperienced with one taking up the slack for the other. For instance, GC bought in Joe Dunne who had experience in management. This can’t have been cheap either... Mansell (and Maher) are experienced heads.

So, Manager and assistant manager, and not an ounce of managerial experience between them. We saw what happened when they got rid of Lennie Lawrence and left a coach in charge

I wonder if this appointment was part of what convinced Grant to join us ahead of Plymouth providing that the reports of his signing are accurate. Could see us bring in a few more of their youngsters, even if it is on a loan deal's. He will know a lot about the player's that they have recently released as well

More forum bashing, why not give your own opinion on the appointment? Personally, I'm in two minds seems a very good coach for the youngsters, just not sure BG and him will have what it takes to get the seniors players motivated.

Mixed feelings regarding this appointment. He looks a good up and coming coach, like Garner and they could work well together. He is only 32 though by the looks of it. Given time together they will surely develop the younger players and improve their games.
On the flip side though, neither has managerial experience. Can they get results in the short term??
Both Garner and Mesure could do with someone experienced next to them.

They have not put the rules in place yet. So we should be able to sign more than 22 for next season. They said clubs would get a season to adjust to the new rules. Young loan player's will be more important than ever though, to boost the number's of the squad.

Not sure how I feel about another "Highly Rated" coach, but we shall see. Better than a poorly rated coach 😂 True 😂. But, I dont think the BP or Rovers will write "Rovers sign poorly rated coach"

All we can do is give this duo a fresh start.
No excuses this time. Debt free, your own squad, coaching staff, looks to babe competitive budget, new TG etc.
I’m happy to ignore last seasons failures and start again.

It is easy to blame BG, yes the results were not very good...but let's not forget it was the same players that got us right to the top that seemingly went missing once GC left. The players looked like they had lost confidence over night and had never met each other. Hoping to see some signings soon, as we have let quite a few big characters go and they need replacing. With the new facilities hoping the that give the players and staff a new lease of life..sooner they are training new facility the better.

First team now managed by two cone markers for premiership youth squads. Div 1 seems to have one relegation spot sorted Should have binned the experiment last season

So, Manager and assistant manager, and not an ounce of managerial experience between them. We saw what happened when they got rid of Lennie Lawrence and left a coach in charge I presume he’ll still have support and advice from Steve Coppell on an informal basis? The club has put their faith in Garner and have rightly let him choose someone who shares his philosophies and who he trusts. Perhaps the club could have appeased some of our fans and forced a journeyman upon his coaching team? Personally, I’m quietly optimistic and looking forward to a fresh approach with hungry young players and coaches.
