If anyone thought it was a mistake letting an injury prone Liam Sercombe go then they can rest easy. This guy will grow with us and IMO, better than Sercombe that we signed 3 years ago. Welcome to the gas Zain! I think I'll wait until we've played a few games until I make a judgement on that or any of our summer signings. I think we've got a list as long as the M32 of players that have had quality potential that have come to nothing. This is true, the Buckle season was a prime example of where our star signings didn't work out, and then before that we had the likes of Blizzard that was supposed to be Championship quality. Still, I can't help but be really excited about our recruitment these days! Widdrington's department have been doing sterling work, and I'm hoping that Ben Garner with a full pre-season, will really make his mark here.

Good Morning All,
Just thought id register on here so i could let you know my thoughts on the boy Zain and keep up to date with all the other ex cov you have with you.
Zain got his chance last season when we sold Tom Bayliss on the eve of the first game to Preston. He immediately looked very impressive, however, he was lucky to get the chance in the side due to the sale of Bayliss and an injury to Jamie Allen.
Safe to say he surprised a few here and did really really well, with talk of a few clubs from the division above looking at him. He lost his place when Callum OHare settled and Jamie Allen started to get back to fitness and now finds himself at the back of a bit of a queue for a place in our midfield. This however does not mean he isnt good enough.
We do have a lot of quality in the midfield area and id imagine this move will have come about as he wants to play, i would expect Robins would want to keep him for squad depth but he does need to play.
As for his qualities, hes a ball player.. he can pick a pass and he can score a goal too. Id imagine JCH will link up with him very well. His only downside is his does like to jump out of a tackle.
I suppose the best compliment i can pay him is id happily have him in our midfield next season so would expect him to do very well for you lot.

Welcome to the gas Zain! Let's hope so. Sercombe did well for us. He was incredible in that first season, unfortunately I wasn't sad to see him go. This is a great signing.

Unreal signing. I can’t remember being this excited by a signing since Rickie Lambert.
We must be paying decent wages.

What a cool and confident young man. If he can play as good as he can talk we could have a gem. All this investment and no customers, strange times, unheard of. Wael is demonstrating once again his passion for the Gas, for which we will be eternally grateful.

Would be curious to hear Gi or Knowall's opinions on this signing.
They've been very quiet on the transfer front.

Thanks Covinpeace for your appraisal. Zain looks like the perfect piece in our jigsaw. Obviously time will tell. Good luck to Coventry in the Championship and maybe we'll be up there with you next season...you never know!!

Unreal signing. I can’t remember being this excited by a signing since Rickie Lambert. We must be paying decent wages. Ironically, BG mentioned that we were still under last season's budget prior to announcing this signing and he was hopeful we'd remain there. Also said we've been shrewd with our offers and doesn't want us to be known for overpaying (paraphrasing) anymore so I'm not so sure we are actually. Although I'd assume all our contracts are, at the very least, heavily incentivised - perhaps decent payrises/bonuses for playoffs/promotions and individual achievements like goals/clean sheets if I'd hazard a guess.

This is a superb signing ... I have been amazed this summer... Clever dealings to tie in Anssi and Alfie It was surely way too much to expect Max Ehmer and Jack Baldwin both to sign ? Josh Grant - Cracking signing Sam Nicholson was always going to Hearts yet he will pull on the Quarters next season. Jonah i'm excited about but know little about, but he is ours !! Sensational stuff on the Recruitment side and I sense from conversation there are still a few more surprises on the way!! Oh and throw in Waels statement of Financial intent - What a Summer so far. I'm still nervous about what standard others might sign as there will be dozens of players looking for Clubs but our guys are on the training pitch already .... Definitely backing us for good things this season!! Not sure many club's are going to sign better than potentially two of the best CB's in L1, an excellent prospect from Chelsea and a young L! championship winning CM plus a decent non league prospect whilst retaining the league's best goalie, young CB & striker.

A real statement by the a Club with this signing. BG is certainly selling the vision which can only come down from the very top. Welcome to a great Club Zain.
