Wonder why our defenders simply allowed their player to score their second goal with no challenge or marking whatsoever. Baldwin is very limited. Excellent referee. Outmuscled all over and an attacking threat of nowt!!!! It would take some serious convincing for me to believe that Baldwin is an improvement on Menayese. He most likely is; Menayese was the player who dropped the most in quality when Garner took over in my opinion. Solid but never personally rated him and I think Baldwin is at least on a similar level.

It's still one game and we always start poorly. We had the same last season after the Blackpool game. People were not happy when GC left though. Just saying it's way too early to have a meltdown. On here it seems every time we win we are going up, every time we lose, we are going down 😂. Not many are in between and can see past the last game. I know last year we were rubbish under him. But he didn't have his side. It's time to start a fresh and judge from now. Not a good start, but too early for the reaction. Dan Dan the excuses man. You posted it was obvious we were going to go on a bad run after GC left, Now this. Blind faith mate. It was obvious the player's were going to get fatigued after all those games😂. We would have had a dip under GC as well. We played so many games, in such a short space of time more than any other club in the league. Plus we had injuries to key player's on top of the games. I was only talking about it then, as I've studied fitness and sports performance in great detail. Even after a rest, we still we not good enough under Garner though. I'm not a Garner fan so far. Just saying you can't judge him after one game, with his squad. Especially when we currently have no striker who has scored a league goal. I will give him 8 games, before going into total meltdown 😂. Atleast in consistent and look at the biggest picture. I've seen you change your tune so many times. Even seen you write about the player's being tired, after you said to me it didn't matter. If we win against Sunderland, you will be saying we are going up!

already on here his supporters are happy to wipe out a third of the games of this season before it's even started. So that rules out a promotion bid before a ball is kicked. That leaves 30 games where he has to get more then 1.5ppg to stay up. Cant see too many putting hands in pockets to attend or watch this season

Disappointed but not the end of the world. Proper stuff starts next week. Oh thank goodness today wasnt a proper game. So this free 10 games Garner is allowed to f**k up in doesnt include today? I like it. Walsall? That's a mulligan. I think we are bound to lose the first 3 league games so what do we reckon? Let him off them, right? Shall we start his 10 game gimme some time in November? Garner forever.

They will obviously be big favourites, but you can never say there is no way in football. There is always a chance.

I think Garner is a coach not a manager and will try and get us playing pretty football but get outfought.

Have to confess that I don't like the playing out of defence style but the main trouble today was the lack of a striker and Leahy who iisnt up to League 1 standard and Alfie Kilgour who has had a poor pre season and continued it today. It was very clear to see today that we need two strikers through the door and bloody quick. The commentators said we would be a bottom half of the table team which is some comment to make after 90 minutes of football. We did miss three good chances to score and the Nicholson one in the first half should have made it 1-1 and change the game. IMO two strikers and we will be challenging for a top six place. Failure to get these and it will be a lo9ng hard season.

Okay we failed to score and only created a handful of chances, but Ipswich was always going to be a tough away day and until we replace JCH it's pretty obvious we're short of quality up front. Hopefully the two players we're looking to bring in can make the difference and we can get them signed ASAP. If not before Tuesday, definitely before the team travel to Sunderland on Friday.
Biggest concern for me is the defence.
I disagree with Garner's comments that the game was simply decided because we were wasteful in front of goal and they were clinical. The stats show they had 10 shots on target to our 1 and more than twice as many attempts in the game. I can recall 3 or 4 very goods stops from Stappershoef and I don't think we could have complained if Ipswich had scored 1 or 2 more. Our defence looked slow and they were simply not marking their men, leaving far to much space for the Ipswich forwards to attack. I'm hoping this was just a bad day at the office for our back 3 but there is certainly a lot of work to do because play like that and we're going to concede an awful lot of goals this season.

I was disappointed when GC left. for the first time in a long time we were consistantly winning games, games we would have been expected to lose, Ipswich for example. Lots moans about the "style" of football, I didn't care, it was winning football. Now we have someone who wants to introduce his own stye of football, Exciting football! Attacking football! Truth is I saw lots of long balls today as well as tippy tappy football. The disappointing thing was we never looked like scoring, or winning and we need 2 strikers who are not only skilful and regular scorerers but are toug enough to bully centre halves. From Garners comments what we will get is someone who "will fit in" "We dont need a like for like player" I smell disaster Truth is the football under GC at the Mem was God awful, all his best performances and results came away from home. Fans must be lying if they say it was just the results that mattered, if that's the case then you may as well just check if we'd won once the final whistle went. Although I don't get why Rovers can't play attractive football and win games, it just seems to be one or the other. Hopefully BG can get in 1 or 2 strikers with some league experience by next Saturday and we can start again.

Was it my imagination or was Garner trying to blame coming out of lockdown and the pandemic (‘still working at it’) despite this being exactly the same for nearly every other team in the country?

Sure, football is an entertainment business but the biggest entertainment of all is winning and seeing your side score some goals in the process and this has been scarce under Garner so far.

Given only one striker is likely to start how can he make us a top 6 side, when results so far under BG put us in the bottom 6 even with JCH in the side. Unless there's a vast improvement all over the pitch we're miles away from being a top 6 side.

I know its the first game, but ffs it couldnt have been much worse. Trying to stay positive is pretty hard when you listen/read the review ...gutted..... it wouldn't be so bad if we played half decent and lost dont know what to say ... just gutted
