Mark Little said that things are good in training. Why would he lie? We just need to win a few games and then anything can happen. Graham Coughlan didn’t have the best of starts, but when he left we were on a roll. This might take a bit of time, but we need to keep believing. We get behind our team and whoever is in charge usually because we are faithful and true. UTG! Coughlan had a great start, what ya talking about Willis?! A very good performance in his first game a narrow defeat at Sunderland and then won his next three before he was given the job , 2 year deal if I remember right ? He hit the ground running because he kept things simple , he was inexperienced as a manager like Garner is , he knew that , didn’t try anything fancy just talked to the players and kept things simple in a way that they could go back to basics and pick up enough points to get by. Then he made a couple of good additions in the window , made us more solid , we became even more of a horrible bastard of a team to play against with a front two that had clicked the season before and continued to click in the new season with a strong defence and midfield Where Every Player Knew What His Job Was . We were going well. JCH and Nichols had a partnership better than anything we’d had in years and we were 4th in league 1 better than we’d been in years, decades even. Most of the fans hated Nichols - JCH loved him.( the only time JCH has ever been prolific and his ratio was better than Lamberts so not surprising is it ?) Most of the fans hated Coughlan - some loved him( incredible points to game ratio) Coughlan gives up on a club with a fan base that had pretty much zero gratitude and leaves- new manager comes in sells JCH partner , changes everything particularly putting JCH in middle without a strike partner JCH looks lost , leaves , Sercombe wants out , Craig wants out, Clarke wants out. It’s all gone tits up. Things might get better , there always comes a point where you hit bottom and start again but I’m not convinced we’re there yet.

It’s funny how we beat them 5-0 and 6-0. Maybe some sort of revenge for the play off semifinal.

I had us to win 3-1 at 14-1, Torquay to win 3-1 at Scunny at 28-1 and Sheffield united to beat Sunderland 3-1. Finished 2-1. Singles, doubles and treble! £200 staked in total. One goal cost me £200K in the 80s! Saw both. 6-0 should have been 11-0? Dom scored in 88th?

Was it still the same sh**ty ground as the one we beat them in in our promotion winning season ? 10 times worse than Twerton, nothing down one side , a tiny stand at the other , a terrace for us behind the goal which was lower than the pitch or seemed it stood at the front as a 12 year old and a stand for the home fans down the other goal end. Went one nil down before Chris Mc Clain scrambled one in and then Olly hit a beaut to get the winner in the baking sun.

Sixfields for playoffs. Their old ground was a beautiful place. Next to a cricket field on one side

Sixfields for playoffs. Their old ground was a beautiful place. Next to a cricket field on one side I remember there being nothing down one side , hardly anything in the ground for fans in terms of terraces stands etc Why was it beautiful?

Just because it was different.grounds then had a identity. Like the manor ground and Springfield with the mud away end

Just because it was different.grounds then had a identity. Like the manor ground and Springfield with the mud away end It was beautiful if you were a Rovers fan that day. Ollie’s goal in to the corner was the winner and the away end took off. Was part of a 6 game 2-1 run where we conceded the first and come back with two goals.

I know that two other players have said the same as Little, so he certainly wasn't lying.

Why do people keep on insisting that managers sell their best players? I am certain that BG didn't want to lose JCH in the same way that DC didn't want to sell the snake. It's out of their hands. Yes, BG could have stood his ground and said 'We can't afford to pay you any higher wages/better contract (there's a pandemic destroying football clubs at the moment you know) so we'll keep you for another year and then you can go for nothing" (see Lee Brown and Tom Lockyer). Owner of the club takes BG aside and says 'Listen, the Million plus we get for JCH would be good for the club and we can hopefully find another striker for a lot less money'. BG has no option, The club has no option. We are in a VERY privileged position of not being in debt and will survive COVID ....an awful lot of clubs probably won't. Give BG a chance, (two games with a team of his choosing isn't giving him a chance yet...10 to 12 games will be fairer). He may well turn out to be our worst manager ever...but he may also turn out to be our best. Alex Ferguson was slagged off by his fans not long after he took over Man Utd. The team weren't playing very, their league position was bottom half and the fans wanted him sacked. I bet they're glad they didn't.

Taylor left Rovers years ago. As did Harrison. Year we go, year we go? Geez, does that mean our promotion hopes finished years ago and it’s all about survival now? For me, it was only yesterday and the best football feelings for a while. Tomorrow never comes? UTG

Suggest all the negatives send in their CV's for the next managers job after their total condemnation of BG-they all seem to think they could do a better job-Happy Days
