You can’t blame people for wanting a manager out that only won twice is 20 odd games. I’m pretty sure that many chairman would have sacked Garner last season let alone given him till the opportunity his season. The pressure was always going to be on BG from the off this year because of this record. I said I would give him 10 games to see what results he was getting and of those 10 he had to win at least for and have 3-4 draws. I modified that view after the Ipswich game where were absolutely diabolical and said he should go. That was mainly because we looked worse than last season with his now his own signings. After 2 wins, where do I sit now? With all the emotion taken out of it perhaps he should get the 10 games. In the last 2 the fine margins he likes to blame losses on have swung in our direction with 2 pens given that have resulted in us taking the lead in games. We need a solid 2-0 win with both goals coming from open play to affirm we are going forward. What this does prove though that Wael backs his manager to the nth degree whether it’s in giving him all the opportunity to sort it out or backing with players and staff. Fair play. Agree with a lot of that. There are those among us who wanted a bit of patience and for this season to be somewhat of a clean slate to allow the newly built squad and trading methods time to bed in. Whilst most of us respect the view of others (largely based on the terrible stats when you include last season) that he should be sacked it was the aggressive and over the top tone of comments which were divisive. Especially when those who wanted a bit of time for BG are on the receiving end of OTT comments, the usual snide comments like BG fanboy, Rose tinter and being happy with a low % win rate and wanting relegation etc... Hopefully everyone can now see some positive signs and whilst not be completely pro BG will at least tone down the criticisms and give him a bit of time. I won’t hold my breath and suspect the usual suspects will gleefully be out in force when we next lose a game!

I wouldn't disagree with you, o2. But there's the small matter of (1) finding /identifying such a player ;(2) persuading him to come here. Then pay comes into it - do you destabilise the squad by paying one player far more than the others? And contradict your whole policy on sustainability over the wage bill? Would that it was all so simple. Fair enough. Some good points. What's the price of not replacing though? It could go either way. It's a bigger risk. Imo, we never suitably replaced Lambo and were ultimately relegated. Plus, it becomes a salable commodity if scores regularly. To me, there are more plusses then minuses..

And fair enough to you o2. I had thought of that, and there is an argument for players accepting another being on higher money if his goals propel the team to the top of the table and takes the pressure off them. We ought to also accept that BG and his staff might be furiously trying to find such a player.

Imo, we never suitably replaced Lambo and were ultimately relegated. Plus, it becomes a salable commodity if scores regularly. To me, there are more plusses then minuses.. We have two strikers who both scored yesterday and for many one or other was motm. The clamour to get a new striker reminds me of the desperation that many on here showed before we signed Payne, on paper he came from a successful Shrewsbury team who just missed out on promotion. How did that work out. Truth is Wael has put his money where his mouth is and wants a footballing side that brings through young skillful players that have a market value. We will sell our players and look to unearth similar gems. It won't happen overnight but the days of paying inflated prices and wages are over. If you think selling JCH means we are going to spend half a million on a player, i think you have missed what has happened in the world over the past 9 months. We sell to pay running costs, and to invest in infrastructure like the training ground. BG was in charge last season but many forget he had his own family concerns to manage. He also had players that he clearly believed were incapable of playing the style he wants to play, he couldn't wait to get the season over with and start afresh. He now needs time, a full season is a minimum, to develop his team. We could struggle but I personally dont think we will go down equally there is a chance that we might excel after all a win in the next game makes it a very respectable start. In summary does he have a vision of what he wants to do YES, were his buys since arriving good YES, are we playing positive football better than the drudge served up by GC YES, are we improving YES should we give him our backing YES

Hanlon could well be JCH's replacement, goals wise? I sense you're living in a dream land if you think we're going to sign a proven goalscorer for £100K's on a 3 year Nichols/Bennett type contract.

I’m intrigued to see how many more times Hanlan will find the net before the months end. Many talk of still needing to replace JCH with a ‘natural goal scorer’. For me this won’t be required if Brandan can continue his form and really hit a purple patch in front of goal. One thing is for sure, he is by far a superior all round footballer to JCH, with the work rate to match.

He should be sacked this afternoon. Well maybe not this afternoon, maybe after a few more games if we lose, but if we win then no. Perhaps at Christmas, depending on where in the League we are, but even so, yes, no.

Graham Alexander sacked from Salford.
He only won 7 of his last 20 games last season following promotion from the conference meaning They missed out on the play offs. They are also unbeaten this season with 2 wins and 3 draws and sit 5th in the league.
Puts a few things into context doesn’t it.

We might be ok and both strikers might replace jch scoring record. What happens if they don't? What happens if Hanlan gets a hamstring injury? It, as what happened Saturday, teams are resorting to giving him a dead leg. Succession of dead legs? What could be the consequence if we don't replace jch? The financial cost? Your post arbitrary throws out £500k. Nice. Piggot is allegedly available for half that. Your post brings in Wael and the pandemic. I've got nothing but praise for how Wael has supported the club financially and have posted this before. But, with regards to playing staff, BG alluded we are very much in profit for offloading high earners and recruiting 6 free transfers and 2 loans. We only paid undisclosed fees for Westbrooke and Hanlan, with Ayunga going to tribunal. It's not completely correct we've broken the bank already. Finally, I'd just like to commend you on your post regarding two strikers scoring. You've made my point for me.....20 matches in, and BG starts a team with NO strikers at Ipswich! Then one v Sunderland and Ipswich again! Fair play because it's horrible anyone having to deal with family crisis and health scare of the pandemic, but it isn't until well over 20+ matches BG decides to start two strikers (whether they actually play as a 2 up front is a different matter) up front and we have a hallelujah moment along with Hare replacing Little that was more luck than judgement ! ? And that's where I see BG judgements at the moment, lucky.

It's probably bad enough having wannabe footballers on your board, as a manager. Being the play-thing of the class of ninety whatever is probably a right pain.
So Scholes is now the manager, blimey.

Promotion, mid table finish and cup final and has them sat unbeaten in 5th and they have replaced him with Scholes, who’s never managed before except for 31 days at Oldham where they didn’t win a game.

You’re comparing a striker who has yet to score from anything other than a penalty with a guy who could hit them from 30 yards out of nothing. He might be decent in the other areas of centre forward play but based on our games so far this season we’ll need a lot of pens for Hanlan to compete with the void JCH has left in our goalscoring stats.

Interesting analysis and that’s an issue he seems to have had last season and some parts of this- he seems very wedded to his ideas even when they don’t seem to be working. As you say he finally tries two strikers and it coincides with two decent results.
