Tonight was frustrating, but Hull are gonna be up there so won’t dwell on this evening too much.

Well that was disappointing esp the second half. Hull ran the midfield and our back 3 CHs played very well in the first half but Baldwin and Harries were both poor second half. But tbf to Ehmer I thought he played well throughout. But the midfield never got going and we should have made a change 15 minutes before we did or even earlier. Grant and McCormack were off the pace and at times Grant was way out of position and left the defence pretty exposed which was a shame after being far better recently. Teams are realising how to handle Hanlan, keep tight, keep him out of the area and be prepared to foul if necessary. He never had a single ball facing goal. I like the way we try to play football but Hull did as well and what Hull did a lot better was know when to stop messing around and clear the ball when they needed to. Harries and Baldwin don’t know when not to play football and tried to pass too much. We haven’t seen much of Hare and Tutonda as an attacking force again and tonight Hull found lots of space down the right hand side. I think they’ll go up and we need to learn and BG needs to think about using his subs better. It’s still been a good month and we now move on again. A winnable match next but we need to learn from tonight. UTG!

Men against boys, absolutely no goal threat from the 4th minute onwards. Exciting football, no more like come dancing, back and back and sideways and back. Feel sorry for Hanlon, wasted on his own. Apart from Westbrooke having a one on one from 8 yards you mean?

Completely agree with you. Think we should've got a draw there. Midfield has to be better at getting the ball to the forward 2 . I think our forward 2 will get goals with better service. Hare didn't get up the pitch enough for me. Harries is not at the same standard as the rest of the team - too shaky. Hull pressed us very well tonight and none of our players were given time on the ball, and Tutonda and Hare probably suffered most from that. I initially thought we were dealing well with their substitution, as we appeared to be chasing and tackling the new players, but that stopped after Tutonda's error. Onwards and upwards though, as I thought there were encouraging signs, not least in the way in which we started the game. Agreed. We also started the second half really strongly, but once Hull got a foothold, they made it very difficult for us, and sadly we didn't have an answer to it. I do agree with those saying that we should have made subs earlier. I just also think that some posters on here much prefer to post criticism, in fact they seem to revel in it. I get that we all want success for the Gas, but I think some of the negativity is way over the top.

He doesn’t retain possession well either, not sure what his point is Grant needs to be dropped and Upson brought in. Not sure how Grant is still starting considering how poor he has been this season. disagree.

Not sure Oztumer actually done anything better than McCormick was doing before he departed? Truth is we're not quite good enough to compete with the top 6 sides. Plus we've nobody to replace Hanlan when he's not having a good game. We beat the league leaders away. We drew away at the biggest club in the division too. So we can compete. The 2nd Half was very disappointing, their manager made a triple change and all 3 scored to completely change the game, BG needs to learn about game management and making changes at the right time, but I don't think its fair to say we dont compete. It’s not just BG that needs to learn game management. The players need to step up and take some responsibility, the way we hand possession straight back to the opposition is poor, you don’t need to be in your 30’s to just put your foot on the ball and take the sting out of the game when the opposition are pressing. Hull will no doubt be among the leading sides this year but I didn’t think they were that good tonight and it was disappointing to lose without them having to work too hard or play that brilliantly. The second goal wasn’t that bad defending. I think it was Baldwin that either slipped or was tripped which was unfortunate. The third was obviously a poor mistake but the game was pretty much over by then.

Agree on the subs, when Hull brought on 3 players I knew they had us sussed, and were bringing on players with a plan. We should of countered with subs and a slight change of play to negate Hulls changes.

As someone just said, like that we keep trying to play. All players willing to play in triangles and you can see how effectively it gets you out of a tight spot.
They were a champ team last year and had that extra gear when they needed it.
We are not up with the best teams yet, but I’m encouraged for the most part. Definitely moving in the right direction.

Bens tactics when leading games is awful we are at our worst when winning which is quite the opposite of most teams we just go into a shell The sign of a young team with no experienced leader in the middle of the pitch.

Very frustrating after being in such a good position at half time. Unfortunately it did turn into a similar game to Sunderland where we couldn't get any continued possession until it was too late.
I would've liked to see a change in personnel 10mins earlier. No gaurentee that would've changed things though.
Ah well, onto Saturday.

We need to learn how to see games out after taking the lead. Every time we score we drop deep and invite pressure! Not the end of the world, still backing us to challenge for play-offs this year. UTG to be fair, a team cant really 'see a game out' for 89 minutes!

What's it with BG always moaning about the refs? Defence wasnt good enough today end of and like someone said...who have we got to replace hanlan if he is having a poor game?

Perhaps posters could explain what changes they expected BG to make to change things, as Oztumer looked no better than McCormick when he did finally replace him.
The simple fact is the likes of Hull are too strong for us, hopefully the less experienced players will learn from losing. Plus perhaps Liddle will had some bite to midfield and Ayunga another option upfront.

If it was a foul then that decision at 1-1 could well have changed the result? If we'd been in the ground and saw a foul we'd all be ranting about the ref as well tonight.

Amazed how quick people are to blame BG as soon as we lose. Thought we were Ok for the most part and restricted them to very few chances, but we were not looking so sharp going forward. One thing with a young team is that I don't think they can do it week after week...young players need a break. This is the time for a bit of rotation I feel. I would give Tutonda and McCormick a rest for the next game - even perhaps Westbrooke who I thought was very wasteful tonight. Oztumer can come in for Westbrooke if his fitness is up to 90 minutes (or even 60), Nicholson for McCormick, and either Leahy, Liddle or the new guy for Tutonda.

They play a pretty successful 433 formation primarily attacking down the right hand side so Dave is gonna have his work cut out unless Leahy or Koiki come in for this one. Threats on that side will be Wilks or Adelakun. They will press our back line so we will need to be confident on the ball or hoof it away early no nonsense style. They like to cross it in so we will need to be good in the air and strong in the box. This is probably gonna be a tough one for us but we are as good as anyone with they way we can create chances and Brandon Hanlan is quickly getting a reputation for being a real handful and was quoted recently as being the most powerful forward faced by defenders so far (good job by him) I would imagine we would stick with the 3-5-2 and try to dominate the midfield areas. Opportunities attacking on our left side on turn overs as they will commit bodies forward attacking down the right, so if we can steal and use that vacant space we could get some joy. They have shown that they certainly have a goal in them, but the Fleetwood match also shows they can happily concede too... We will need to be clever and clinical tonight and press them into mistakes with the likes of Daly, Hanlan & McCormick with energy to burn this could be a tasty one. Believe this one is probably our hardest since Sunderland so going to say 1-1 but i would love a decent 1-0 performance from us with solid confidence boosting defending Well I guess I called it that Dave would have a hard time today. Shame about the result but it all learning on and off the pitch for the players and the staff Maybe an opportunity for the guys waiting for their chance on Saturday?

I hate to say it but in a way Hull deserved a goal then just to put it into context how sh** that defending was. Scratch that, Eaves has scored from even more bad defending. This is a bit of a wake up call that we can’t live with a side that can go through the gears. I chuffin' knew it wouldn't take long for you to crawl out again!!! You couldn't wait to say ' i hate to say it......... blah blah. Bit of an over-reaction. I was just commenting on the defending which was sh**, nothing else. Why, would you try and argue our defending wasn’t sh**? Go on then, this should be interesting *grabs popcorn*

If Westbrook had scored OJ half time I believe we would have gone on to win. A good number of their team were playing in the Championship last season. Our team are still learning, we will get stronger. BG needs time, simple as.
