it's small m 'marxist' really, the capital is bourgeois, therefore abolished. that's an example of what one of those marxist might say. Didn't help but thanks. no probs basically a marxist would be someone who believes the current way of life is built on the exploitation of others a marxist would want to restructure society so that there is no exploitation dumbing down the most important philosopher we will know of to a sentence or two really is quite pointless though, and obviously ironic considering his writings

Thanks for your forensic explanation. Are you denying that the team did the knee taking consistently well? I cant think of anything else, maybe tying their laces or putting on their kit. Whats it achieved? The normally adjusted of us still treat people the way we ourselves expect to be treated. As for those of a racist propensity, i cant see a load of knee taking footballers having much of an impression, if anything it appears to have many of them worse. As for knee taking for asian lives, if you dont think thats acceptable but are supporting the current nonsense then you are being racist. Id hazard a guess that we have more black players on the pitch than black fans in the stadium. Id like to see a community drive to turn that on its head, im presuming the club do work at that, seems more constructive than the knee. I dont need to say anything more about your posts. You are doing a fine job of compounding the impression already given (by yourself) you have had 2 chances to explain yourself and you are just talking in riddles. If you have an issue with someone who doesn't agree with you id suggest keeping off of forums.

"Fans who make their first act after the referee's whistle booing their own team's stance against racism, should be ashamed of themselves," said the FSA's chief executive Kevin Miles. Kick It Out and the Football Supporters' Association spoke out on the day that a new report claimed following the England team can be unifying for people of different backgrounds. More than 5,500 English citizens were asked if the national team belongs to people of every race in England, and two-thirds of both white and ethnic minority respondents agreed. Some 77% of white people asked agreed that being English is open to people of all ethnic backgrounds who identify as English, while 68% of ethnic minority citizens agreed. However, 14% of white people said they believe only white people can be considered English. The figure was 19% among ethnic minorities. ——— I’ll be there, drowning them out. Shocking statistics that 14% of white English believe only whites can be English. I bet they have no problem celebrating when Sterling scores a goal though. As it seems everyone was so apparently supportive of kick it out, with kick it out supporting taking the knee - what will people do? Will they still support kick it out?

Mind you, I have to say, that when I go visit some chaps in the pub twice a week, all 3 of them are as racist as you could possibly imagine so that's 75% right there.

Your choice but if my friends were massive racists I’d choose new friends. They don't scream it from the roof, but they are. I've noticed a difference between my older siblings who's informative years would have been the 70s, mine which were the 80s and their children which were the 90s. Same with their views on homosexuality. It definitely showed a marked contrast of thoughts, my siblings would comfortably use terms expressed by the likes of Jim Davidson or Bernard Manning without batting an eyelid and sometimes genuinely meaning dislike (ironic as when he was a teenager the then best mate of one brother was black and my brother was willing to do time for him when they got into serious trouble). It initially had an affect on my understanding, until I went to school and actually made friends with people from other backgrounds. My nieces and nephews have no such issues. Bodes well for the future, it's almost like it is those aged 50 or older who have the problem. Does that make sense?

Christ I just took a look at the other forum - OldGas basically saying white people are the UKs indigenous population.
It’s astonishing how racist of a comment that is.
I wonder what his take is on taking the knee. I bet I can guess.

I’m shocked & outraged you could even make such a suggestion.

Yes, perfect sense. It's the Alf Garnet era. Alf Garnet was satire but was very much before it's time. All the people that thought he was a working class hero were the ones being ridiculed. As someone who, in my mid/late teens admired the writing in that show (Johnny Speight) I think we knew that he was taking the water out of ignorance. His biting humour aimed squarely at ignorant racism, misogyny and nationalism. Although the Garnet character drew most attention the role of Cheri Blair's father, Tony Booth, playing a working class lefty was pivotal in driving home the point. I will never forget the scene where, after a drunken debate, he threw a drink over the portrait of the queen. I very much doubt we would see that today. The context in the media was that comedy seen as edgy was primarily driven by "clever" people like David Frost and John Cleese.(Oxbridge in other words) Till Death do us Part was the first working class comedy that laid it out as it was. Brilliant.
