I’m not disagreeing with you Oldie, far from it. If value isn’t being returned then people need to be held to account. That’s why there’s SLA’s. Why this wasn’t sorted at the appropriate level without all this political yaah - booing, one can only guess. But the fact that the PM feels more pressure from 23yr old footballer than the leader of the opposition, a Knight of The Realm And a qualified barrister no less, tells you all you need to know about said leader. That's the power of the celebrity, few really care what a politician says, an odd piece on the TV or a few words in a newspaper but ask a famous footballer (or indeed anyone with 'influence') and it's all over the news. Factor in social media on top of that and the message is heard by millions. You’re probably right Stuart, but the fact that Starmer felt it necessary to provide a news opportunity and be seen packing food into boxes, complete in PPE, and incongruously dressed in a business suit, shows that he had been spooked by Boris’ put-down and was making a crass attempt at image recovery. Come on, you must have found that amusing.

As for the PMQ comment, I didn't hear it although if Boris is acknowledging he has been held to account, then it's not a good look for him either.

The only thing I would say in response is that Starmer and his shadow executive did not award the contract and did not have oversight responsibility. However, I do wonder what constituency MPs are doing. They represent these kids and their families. I dont care which party they are members of. For me this is a dereliction of duty, perhaps keeping quiet under instruction of their party hierarchy. Which, frankly, I find disgusting. Again, I don’t disagree with you. However, I have to wonder how widespread the under supply of food is, and whether it’s being inflated out of all proportion. But you’re right, if it’s a serial problem then MPs should be asking questions. With regards to party hierarchy telling MPs to keep quiet, I assume the opposition would have no part of that because it’s an open goal so, as I say, I wonder how big this problem actually is. Please, put party loyalty to one side, didn’t you think Boris’ H of C put-down was funny, and didn’t you find it even funnier when Starmer was on the news the next day, complete with visor and mask, helping to pack food boxes, ala Rashford? Being honest. I have long grown tired of the pontificating and point scoring that goes on in Parliament. Some of it is laughable, but mostly embarrassing. The way I see it, as it stands on leadership, Johnson has been exposed as tge incompetent charlatan a lot of us had said he was and Starmer has had a year to take control of labour and show leadership. To date he has picked the low hanging fruit left over from the farce of the Corbyn period and jumped on Johnsons bumbling buffoonery. But I get no sense of direction or policy platform.

Classic deflection tactic, talk about Welsh Labour or the opposition leader to avoid discussing the damage that the ones who are actually in charge are inflicting upon this country. I suppose you’ll want to claim that scrapping the increase to universal credit, which will push 200,000 children below the poverty line, is somehow the fault of the shadow chancellor? No deflection tactics being used by me, And please don’t put words in my mouth. I saw an interview clip where Starmer said he wanted UC scrapped. All I did was report what I saw and heard. Also, is there a Shadow Chancellor? I can’t say I’ve noticed. Incidentally, the damage that would have been inflicted on this country if that ragged scarecrow had won the GE would be beyond comprehension. You’re lucky other people saved you from yourself! Not put any words in your mouth dear chap, and I didn’t vote for Labour last election, so I guess don’t put any words in mine?

In the meantime, have a read of this: www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-free-school-meals-guidance/covid-19-free-school-meals-guidance-for-schoolsAt the very top it says ‘Guidance’ The document then goes on to explain the responsibility for food box content lies with the school and the food provider. I have done a bit of looking around, and whilst there’s some typical Guardian hysteria, nowhere can I find evidence of how many instances of these food boxes being light on content. You should ask yourself, is it just a couple of one-offs, or is it an endemic nationwide problem. I’m sure if it was, rags like the Guardian and Starmer would be shouting it from the rooftops. The company responsible, Chartwell, have acknowledged the problem and have promised to put it right, so the desired outcome has been achieved. We should all be happy. Now then, you mentioning being “pathetic” *again*, and being schooled. It seems it is you have been schooled after all. What a surprise!

If you read my answer to your post you will see that I never said you voted Labour, my suggestion was that those that voted Conservative saved you from yourself. You say you didn’t vote Labour, in which case you may have been one of those clever people who tried a tactical vote to keep the Tories out. That went well, didn’t it.OR, you didn’t vote at all, so what are you doing joining in political discussions when you didn’t actually exercise your democratic rights? You're welcome, dear chap.

Sure, you can try and argue that people who voted Conservative saved me from myself, but really they voted for a government willing to privatise free school meals so it’s members could make profits at the expense of the taxpayer, voted to trade with countries that commit acts of genocide and want to cut money that is keeping thousands of poor families afloat. But yeah I feel really saved from myself obviously.

Perhaps you could point out what other body, apart from the private sector, that would be in a position to deal with sourcing, packing and delivering thousands of food boxes across the country every day? Which countries have we voted to trade with that practice genocide and which no other country apart from ours trade with? What money has the present government cut from families struggling to stay afloat? As an aside from my last question, would you support a cut in foreign aid to ensure that no-one in this country goes without? And finally. Calm down. You’ll give yourself wind.

It’s not a rant, that’s just my writing style, long sentences. Again, I didn’t put words in your mouth but we’ll just have to agree to disagree on that one as it’s going round in circles now. Where free school meals are concerned, it isn’t a question of whether there is any other means of sourcing or delivering the food to children, I have no doubt that private sector firms can do a decent job at that. It’s a question of why the government found it acceptable to give contracts to companies that offered an abysmal offering that any parent would find tricky to sustain their child for more than a day or two. A food voucher was always the more sensible approach, so a parent could choose how to feed their own child but I suppose far too sensible for the Tories. Seems like your again mistaken about foreign trade, it’s not about trading with countries that commit genocide, it’s about making trade deals with countries that commit genocide, there’s a difference. There are plenty of countries that don’t have trade agreements with South Sudan, Syria, China. The vote yesterday opens the door for our country to do so. This is what I meant in my previous post although reading it back I may have expressed it poorly, so apologies. The Government is ending the £20 increase to UC in march, amounting to £6bn in welfare benefits when families suffering the economic effects of the pandemic need the money the most. This is what I referred to in my earlier post. No I don’t support a cut in foreign aid, no matter what else it would be spent on. There’s another 99.3% of GDP that can be spent on British citizens. Just to reiterate, this isn’t a rant either, just a response to the barrage of questions you asked me.

You, in you never ending spiral of stupidity, seem to think the Education minister sat down with a piece of paper and wrote out what these food boxes should contain. Having worked as a manager in a supermarket for 5 years back in 2015, I can tell you that’s it’s not possible. The till wouldn’t accept the voucher being scanned. Coupons are highly controlled as they hold monetary value. The cashier would most certainly face strong disciplinary action if they had somehow allowed it. But don’t let that get in the way of your classist ideology though. Once a Tory, eh?

As usual. I don’t agree with distributing food boxes, I support giving parents food vouchers to spend on food for their children, so wrong again. Yes probably the only thing you are right about in this post is that you’re indeed wrong about UC. A non-binding vote was won by Labour on this issue, the government hasn’t renewed it yet though. Never said we were the only country to trade with China, don’t know where on earth you got that from. Starmer doesn’t want to give Covid Vaccines to the third world before treating UK citizens, that’s disingenuous nonsense. As for the last sentence that’s just rude, but I honestly wouldn’t expect anything less from you. Have a nice evening.
