"I am deeply concerned by the scenes of violence in Northern Ireland" says the man who was warned there would be deeply concerning scenes of violence in Northern Ireland. It doesn't have to be like that does it,whilst I realise that the extra beaucracy is tiresome is it really necessary to take to the streets and start throwing petrol bombs etc, seems like a good excuse for loyalists to ferment trouble underpinned by criminal gangs. Absolutely. But we shouldnt brush the Tories incompetence and misleading statements and lies under the carpet.

Totally agree, there is another fundamental issue at play here,Protestants are now the minority and a vote on unification would I suspect be won,I wonder how long it will be before we see a demand for a vote and how will the government of whatever persuasion play it.

First Northern Ireland then Scotland will leave the union . Not very good for the conservative & union party is it ? Fair play to them I say , will be sad to see them go but you can’t blame them . Imagine being a Scottish voter and always being ruled by a party you didn’t vote for. Just a shame that we’ll be permanently ruled by the Cons as England is heavily Tory voting and the left can never get their act together to form a progressive alliance.

I'm not so sure as it's tight as to whether the SNP will get an overall majority,if they don't this time then they've probably hit their high watermark.

When push comes to shove, they'll get what they need I reckon. Long way to go from any election just now, look how much has changed in the last 12 months already. Yatton - to your point on Scotland not getting a government they vote for, not quite true as Scottish politics work a bit different than to the rest of the UK - but I see your point.

Scottish Parliament elections in May. At the moment the SNP are on for a majority, then add in the Greens. Alba trailing badly in the latest polls. Yatton is referring to Westminster elections I suspect, they haven't voted Conservative since the 50s and Labour under Blair iirc.

To go for Indy 2 they have to have a majority in their own right without support of the Greens.

Same polling has independence winning 51/49 excluding don't knows. Too close for her to actually want one, but enough to keep the bandwagon going. Besides, it's a reserved power, up to Boris.

I really don't want to see the UK break up, especially post Brexit when we need to work together, but I must say I'm getting to the stage of saying get on with it and go.
