It feels as though we have rewound the clock 10 years to that period between Trollope and DC. Completely unlikable side with no quality. Players coming into the club with good reputations but seemingly not up to the job.
As I said in the thread earlier, there’s not a player at the club who I would be disappointed not to see in the quarters again. Reinforcements are desperately needed.

Abysmal. I have seen a lot of poor teams, and this is one of them. Poor recruitment (and yet they told us it was the best squad rovers had ever had). I have no faith in Tisdale, and in my mind he got the job because he knew Starmer. His knowledge of div One is very limited. But what I cannot understand is that the board allowed this to happen. And yes our best players are loans, shocking. Ayunga, should be out on loan in the National League, because thats his level. Meanwhile we are going down.

Yes it was sh*te!! Yes we had a crap team! yes we can.t defend!, Yes we need a defensive coach! Yes we need another striker!! But do we need another manager?? Everybody was praising PT after Wimbledon and Plymouth, but as soon as we lost Nicholson, Daly and Oztumer, we haven't had a clue up front. I think most would agree that and if we're not scoring more than the opposition with our defence at the moment, we're in big trouble!

My thoughts :-
Hanlon played well but desperately needs a big centre forward to take pressure off. As others have said Hanlon is an inside forward. Westbrook needs to be dropped not capable of playing in a struggling team when you have to battle. Need to get Daly ,Nicholson & Oztumer back ASAP. Ogogo is a waste of time and we should,nt have brought him back.

As miserable as I have been with Rovers and there is lots of competition! Relegation fodder at the moment. Only Hanlan gets any credit today, kept battling away. Grant and Westbrooke been rubbish for weeks. Goodness knows where we go from here 🙁

What is Tisdale doing? No ideal whatsoever. The defenders look laboured,the midfield all over the place and lose count of the number of misplaced passes but also the lack of marking the opposition. Why oh why when he had midfielders on the bench does he move Baldwin from being crap in defence to even worse in midfield. Thought there was a doubt over both goals and generally some awful refereeing. Still when will Leahy learn how to take a throw in? I have never known us to have so many immobile players- half the team look slow and clumsy.
We have so many coaches what the bloody hell are they doing to produce crap like this.

I think there are some talented players. But weve gone back to a back 5 that suits no one. If you play a wing backs its usally because you have especially good wing backs. And an intense midfield. You've got to squeeze the oposition with a high press. Win the ball high up. Thats what we did under coughlan. You cannot play a counter attack style with a back 5. 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 for these players. Fooking obvious. You mean the footy that took us to 3rd, and yet no one liked it.  |

His starting lineups and substitutions are becoming more baffling by the game.
He’s losing us matches before they’ve even begun.

Fooking obvious. 100% it’s so frustrating, why can’t he see that?? 442 for this squad, has to be. Put Ayunga up top with Hanlan until we get someone better in or Nicholson returns. Worth the risk at this point (risk being playing our only two fit strikers at once). We looked better once he was on the pitch, not to say he was the difference but the difference was having two strikers up top |

We are crying out for a Coughlan type battling defence and setup.
We all know the football was dire and had little to no flair. But the way we defended our box was admirable - we are total push overs in both boxes.

Against my better judgement I bought a match pass today. No matter what run we're on, a result at the Kassam is as much of a dead cert as we'll get I thought.
We've lost 2-0 in a game where there was only one save of note and that was from Hanlan's shot.
Against Crewe we got 2 goals but sloppy defending cost us the game. Today, the defending overall wasn't bad (first goal was the result of an individual duel between snake and Hanlan. second goal should have been dealt with better even if it could have been offside - can't rely on a substitute linesman in league one!!) but there was absolutely nothing offered going forward until it was far too late.
Hanlan, Ogogo, and Baldwin had good games I thought.
There was no midfield throughout so we never threatened their end. As much as I like mccormick, he isn't going to create chances. We desperately desperately desperately need Oztumer and Nicholson back for any sort of interplay going forward.

I don’t know why we went back to that ultra defensive setup we started at Crewe with? We looked a bit better in that second half when we had two strikers + Barrett on.
Today was utter tosh from us, second best throughout, didn’t defend particularly well and didn’t create anything to threaten Oxfords clean sheet at the other end.
Oztumer and Nicholson will make a world of difference to us when they come back and are hopefully paired with a new striker but until that happens Tisdale needs to find a better way of setting us up than the way he is currently.
