Commentary slow and laborious? I tapped the wheel to see if there was a Rovers' commentary and got what sounded like a hospital broadcast. Very good actually, pro-Rovers without being biased and followed every movement just like a radio broadcast should. Seems like there's an automatic slow down mechanism whenever the commentator gets ahead of themselves. I was listening to the Fleetwood commentary, 2 of them, when I made the comment. Then it switched to the Rovers commentator who was definitely commentating from a Gas viewpoint but quite fair in his summing up. In fact, in quite a few cases, as he was looking for the right word, I was also thinking of the same word / phrase! Must have been the standard Gas / football thoughts that most fans think? Game went really quickly with very few stops. UTG

I agree McCormick is probably our best all round midfielder (and made a real impact), but I think he'll start the same team on Tuesday to keep things tight early on. Grant played well with Liddle alongside. McCormick will get forward more, so expect him to be an impact sub again. Really hope we can sign him. As much as Westbrooke deserved to be dropped, we do miss his set pieces. Don't worry the way football is going we'll soon be allowed to bring on a set piece specialist ad hoc Generally, we are terrible at set pieces compared to other teams. Even McCormick’s corners hardly cleared their front post man. As said so many times before, we waste 1 player by having 2 players at corners with one adding nothing at all?

Agree, don't underestimate Liddles contribution out of possession, protected the back 4 very well and hasn't played for 10 weeks or so so obviously way short of match practice. Take in to account his performance against Darlington he will be ok better than some of the other players played in there this season to date.I would replace him with McCormick for Tuesday however as we need to win. I watched Liddle very closely and the first 15 minutes was almost entirely due to mistakes he made. His first 3-4 touches lost us the ball and started a break for them. I was almost laughing as it was the worst possible start for him. As the game progressed I saw a better player in there but as has been said, very short of match practice. What I saw today was actually much more effort from everyone and a team willing to play the percentages and retain shape. The freeform, total football has stopped and that’s a good thing. That’s been allowing teams to dick us over for weeks. League 1 is one of those leagues if you play the percentages, you get points. We have enough talent in the side to nick and odd goal. We are woeful in scoring goals at present but I believe this to be temporary. We just keep choking and also I feel we’ve been very u Unlucky not to score more in several games. Much of this was due to dallying on the ball in crucial moments. Not today, they looked willing to shoot. I think Tidsale is teaching them this isn’t U21 or training anymore. It’s not about quality and beauty, it’s about scoring one more goal than them. If you keep your shape they can’t score. If you play the ball to the forwards 10 times you’ll get 2 shots. If you get 10 shots you will score 1 goal. If you play the ball in triangles 25 yards from your own goal, one in ten times you’ll lose the ball and one in three of those leads to a goal. This was the difference today. It’s what’s been missing all year. Coughlan was the master of playing the percentages and if this team can master it, they have enough quality to win matches. Earn the right to play - I think we did that today and I think we were very unlucky not to Nick it. We had the better chances and 2 penalties chickened out by a weak and spineless homer ref. Agree, I would like to see him get a run of games to see how he does. I would play Grant/Liddle and McCormick as the midfield 3 on Tuesday. I think the two of them will give McCormick license to get forward. Is/was Westbrook injured ?

I agree that yesterday the set pieces were awful. With games coming thick and fast, time on the training pitch must be limited, but some priority must be given to improving on these opportunities as we aren't scoring freely from open play.

I was really disappointed with Liddle, his movement and commitment looked very 5 aside in training. The difference with McCormick when he came on was night and day. I was surprised the other players, especially Ehmer, didn't have a word with him and tell him to wake up. If he gets a chance to start he needs to grab it with both hands.

Regarding Liddle, I don't think I've ever seen such a split fan base on one player in one performance!

Think the difference between the two was speed of thought which McCormick has and that showed. That should improve the more game time Liddle gets

This is a young player making his debut in a side that would be low on confidence. Lets not tear him apart before his career has hardly begun. His was a mixed game with some good things and some bad-it wasn't a disaster like say Ehmer and Kilgour last Tuesday so lets give him more chances- p0ersonally I wouldn't play him Tuesday anyway because we need a slightly more attacking approach on Tuesday as we are at home.

Having Liddle on the pitch made a big difference, just purely down to the fact he did the basics. He didn't wander and it helped us keep our shape. At this moment in time westbrooke and mcormick are probably better footballers but they both go missing. A midfielder needs to defend as well as attack and you can see it in mcormick especially he loves to go forward but we must be more disciplined in midfield. Its down to the manager and coaches to develop both mcormick and westbrookes games. They need to do the basics and we need to keep our shape especially away from home. The midfielders need to learn to time their runs, when to defend and when to keep our shape. Mcormick looks raw to me, but he's not afraid to get stuck in or challenge for headers, so he's got the tools to be a top player. Westbrooke however needs to strengthen up, learn to tackle, get in the gym and decide if he wants to play a contact sport.

Thought the system changed when McCormick came on. Liddle and Grant were providing a sheild for back 3. Nicholson playing behind the front two.
Then we changed to 3 4 3, the 4 being a diamond with Grant at the back and McCormick the front. So different roles for the two players.

Liddle did well and will get better
For me McCormick is best in a three behind the main striker
I’d like to see a more attacking line up in a 4-2-3-1
If Ogogo is fit he would play alongside Grant in the 2. If not Liddle gets the nod.
Nicholson McCormick and Hanlan in the 3
Daly up top
That’s a really dangerous front 4 in my opinion and Hanlan can be more destructive as a wider threat as for me he’s not the centre forward type. Daly is your poacher, get him in the box and he will cause havoc.
Either way those players are good enough to get you wins.
I’m more confident after yesterday that the players are at least playing for the shirt. Not sure LM will be here after this season so best we use him all we can in my opinion!

I would bitten your hand off before the game but still feels like 3 points lost after the game if we had a goal scorer...fleetwod were poor today and those opportunities need to be taken You only get 3 points for a win.
