Maybe Mr 100% did bring in the right players.... You're choice to decide Certainly had the fighters in there. Didn't miss Ehmer or Westbrook.

On the one hand fair play to them for making me eat my words, especially Ayunga, on the other how many have been mugging the club off recently because of their dislike of Tisdale? Day in particular- he couldn’t catch a cold a week ago. Seems very strange to appoint a third manager, especially Joey Barton, off the back of a 3-1 win. Widdrington should stay and finish the job based on tonight, he obviously motivates the players Day I agree with, it seems odd. Ayunga is different though, you need to be tactical about how you bring a player into a game. I wouldn't actually give TW the job after 1 performance, but I wouldn't be against waiting another 2 games to make a decision tbh Oh yeah, it’s all about the 10 games isn’t it? 😂 Fair point about Ayunga, I guess Widdrington game them a simple game plan that played to Ayungas strength whereas Tisdale probably bored the arse off them with some business philosophy bollocks. It did sound like they were more committed though, especially Day. Might have picked up some more points in January if he had played like that! I hope Barton doesn’t upset the players now after that result...

Now Swindon postponement is a benefit! Get the bounce and 3pts against one of the best teams, still have Swindon to play and hopefully relegate! GET IN GAS! What a performance. Imagine if the Mem had been full. Performances like that make me so excited to get back to the Mem, it would’ve been rocking tonight! Probably the first game on ifollow that I properly enjoyed.

Great win that and I'd say we got our tactics just about spot on.
That said, it could have been different. They hit the inside of the post twice, not sure whether Day got a touch to the first but the second was a superb save. Marquis was clean through on goal and Day made a great block and then he saved a late penalty. If he did get a touch to the header on to the post in the first half I'd have to give him MOTM because on another day - no pun intended - Pompey would have had 5.
I'm not saying they deserved 5, far from it, but if Day hadn't been on form and luck wasn't on our side that could have been the outcome.
Overall, fantastic effort from the lads, massive congrats to Jonha on his first league goals and a well earned 3 points against a promotion chasing side.

That was much better. What was Tisdale doing so wrong? Player power I think you call it, plus existing staff power. Either way, we needed that and hopefully more of the same v Swindon.

That's not the same players I've been watching great performance, Ayunga great finishing, cool hand Luke, and Day a couple of great saves after he s been throwing them in, Tisdale could not get that effort out of these.

That was much better. What was Tisdale doing so wrong? He failed too understand that if you only have one guy at the club who is a true centre forward then you play him there and give him time to get used to playing this standard of football .

Does this mean Gillingham isn't a 'must win'?
Well done the boys and (slightly gritted teeth) Widders.

To a certain extent: we got our Rovers back tonight.
Fight. Passion. Aggression. Little bit of 3rd division gamesmanship.
It all started when team announcement placed players in their natural positions and played to their strengths.
I like how the captain is picked on merit, and fair play I'm pleased Leahy had stepped up to the mark with a well disciplined, decent defence organised backed up by Day who's performance tonight was the best for the club so far..
Special mention to Jonah....two excellent finishes, whom only got the start because Daly wasn't fit, but I hope now can prove doubters wrong and go on from this. The first was a good centre forward classic finish....the second was from a hanlan flick (hmmmmm playing 2 up front and them actually assisting each other? Who would have thought that? BG certainly didn't).
Well done, McCormick. Absolutely everywhere, my m o m.
Well done, Williams. Almost everywhere. Excellent performance.
A great team game, the likes we've rarely seen in 14 months. Reminds me of the last game we played last season v Sunderland. Team spirit.
Well done everyone involved, we've shown a side we hoped was there, the never say die after going 1 down. We've got something of our Rovers back....can we go on to make it mean something? Or is this the last breath of a dying team?

That was a great performance from everyone. FWIW: Ayunga MOM clearly with the two goals although after that second half McC and Nicholson ran him close. Those two never stopped running and hassling Pompeys defence. Harlan, Ayunga and Nicholson were ok up front and will work together better the more times they play together. Nicholson hassled all evening and was prepared to run at them and hassle them, not a combination you often see from a skilful ball-playing player. Baldwin and Alfie had a good night and lost only 1/2 headers in our box. Defence reminded me of times under GC when they all put themselves on the line and never stopped clearing, shouting and totally committed. Williams again a good game and probably the most composed player, apart from Leahy's penalty. Great pen keeping his nerve. Grant did well and helped keep Pompey out. Day did really well some great saves esp the penalty. Pompey were quite poor for all their possession. After they scored I don’t think they got to the by line again to pull it back. Kept on putting balls into the box which our defence, in this match, dealt with. Thought it showed how simple a game football can be. Everyone gave 100%, defence cleared their lines and defended, midfield tried to get the ball and pass it to the front 2/3 and on several occasions tonight when we attacked I counted 3 or 4 players in the box. It gave us chances and Ayunga got two shots off instead of taking an extra touch and he scored. TW got his message across and the players carried out the orders. I think the players had a point to prove tonight and they played like they did. I hope I’m still saying Tommy 100% Wid on Saturday night. Well done Tommy and the team. UTG!

Well done Rovers and well done Widdrington fantastic result. Still begs the question why haven't we been able to produce a performance like this before. Was Tisdale simply not good enough or were the players not playing for him. I hope its the former. Whatever the explanation Widdrington and the team have produced tonight so my beer tastes especially good now. Things have been getting desperate here lately and this gives us a bit of breathing space, but these players need to know that they can't slip back to the level of performance of the last dozen games. UTG

That's a red card. He hasn't made an attempt to win the ball. Ref has got that wrong. New rule with double jeopardy means they shouldn’t be punished twice I think They are if it's a deliberate foul with no attempt to play the ball, which is what this was. Doesn't matter now but this twat of a ref tried his best to cost us the game.

First of all that is a brilliant 3 points.
Mostly solid at the back, much, much better than recent weeks. We were competing and winning battles.
Midfield worked well today, not once did I think we were massively out the game, we were energetic and linked up with both the defender and forwards.
Pleased for Ayunga, think it is obvious that he better suited playing in a front 2, same for Hanlan, neither good enough to be up front alone and perform better in a pair.
Same formation and same players on Saturday please.
