Defence looks more balanced without Ehmer in the team.... Mcormick had a stormer, really did the hard yards tonight. Day pulled off two cracking saves (but would still like him to command his box more). Ayunga played like a center forward.

New rule with double jeopardy means they shouldn’t be punished twice I think They are if it's a deliberate foul with no attempt to play the ball, which is what this was. Doesn't matter now but this twat of a ref tried his best to cost us the game. In addition doesn’t it still need to be a clear and obvious goal scoring opportunity?

So I’ll start today’s match thread. First one for some time. Last one was a win at Shrewsbury so I’ve got a 100% record. Tough one today but let’s hope for a reaction to the change in manager. Come on you blues. Same again Saturday please!

Does this mean Gillingham isn't a 'must win'? Well done the boys and (slightly gritted teeth) Widders. Isn't every game must win??? I want to see the same kind of performance for the rest of the season.

Well well a Marshy special 😁. About fooking time UTG!!! Oh and just a tenner @ 33 - 1 🍺. And me bud. Been doing 3-1 gas ever since we beat derby in the fa cup (sadly not that game, that was the inspiration in truth) Also got 33/1. Always and only a fiver with the exception of big game were it will be a tenor. As you can imagine after the famous 3-1 play off victory, odds of 18/1 £10 on. That Mr igoe goal just topped of off. Well done all who continually back this score line. Can’t remember ever winning on 33/1 3-1.

Absolutely huge result, massive confidence booster. Thought we were excellent right through the team, Day had his best game for us, mom for me McCormick got through an absolute mountain of work closely followed by Grant. Really pleased for Ayunga took both of his goals superbly and fully justified starting. Onwards and upwards

Well done Rovers and well done Widdrington fantastic result. Still begs the question why haven't we been able to produce a performance like this before. Was Tisdale simply not good enough or were the players not playing for him. I hope its the former. Whatever the explanation Widdrington and the team have produced tonight so my beer tastes especially good now. Things have been getting desperate here lately and this gives us a bit of breathing space, but these players need to know that they can't slip back to the level of performance of the last dozen games. UTG What if they don’t like Barton and won’t play for him? Is it asking too much of well paid footballers to at least defend with commitment for the club and the fans if not for the manager?

I think Tisdale sometimes confused the players about what he actually wanted rather, than them downing tools. Also not sure that his man management skills were that great, which is odd considering all the management speak stuff he does.

Bridgwater tonight is on Lockdown.... I'm so proud and making it known on George Street. I f**king ecstatic tonight, got my Quarters on and making it known... What a great victory. In Barton, ooops Widdrington we believe thank joey for that, done a zoom call to the dressing room before the game with a claw hammer in his hand

I think players particularly at lower level relate well to a manager who talks a simple football game. Tisdale spoke like an office manager. Seemed like a nice bloke but was boring as hell. Not what you want in a relegation scrap. I think TW probably is but doesn’t want the job.

Undoubtedly, I’m not defending Tisdale, he was probably unrelatable and I think there was a clear difference in the instructions from him and from Widdrington...but putting some effort in shouldn’t require clear instruction. If there is an opportunity to put your body in the way of something then it’s your job to do it. It sounds like that was there tonight, especially from Day. I guess if players want a manager out keeping the score down is counter productive to achieving that aim no matter how much it lets the fans down

Great win that and I'd say we got our tactics just about spot on. That said, it could have been different. They hit the inside of the post twice, not sure whether Day got a touch to the first but the second was a superb save. Marquis was clean through on goal and Day made a great block and then he saved a late penalty. If he did get a touch to the header on to the post in the first half I'd have to give him MOTM because on another day - no pun intended - Pompey would have had 5. I'm not saying they deserved 5, far from it, but if Day hadn't been on form and luck wasn't on our side that could have been the outcome. Overall, fantastic effort from the lads, massive congrats to Jonha on his first league goals and a well earned 3 points against a promotion chasing side. If Pompey could have had 5, we could have had 5. We had more shots and chances esp in the first half
