Lots of things going on in the world, the Suez Canal being blocked, rumblings in Mozambique, Myanmar and China forcing a BBC correspondent to move to Taiwan as he was looking a bit too close to home for them to name but a few.
Seems Russia and Ukraine are building up to something 'a bit heated'.
Then there is climate change and us hosting COP 21 in Glasgow this year.

Something I mentioned in my opening post. "Russia has warned Nato against sending any troops to help Ukraine, amid reports of a large Russian military build-up on its borders. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia would take "additional measures" if Nato were to make such a move. Sporadic, low-level clashes continue in eastern Ukraine between Ukrainian troops and Russian-backed separatists. US forces in Europe are now on higher alert, citing "escalations of Russian aggression" in the area. A Nato official told Reuters news agency that Russia was undermining efforts to reduce tensions in eastern Ukraine and Nato ambassadors had met on Thursday to discuss the situation." www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-56616778

Disturbing. Do you think they are challenging Boden?

Unfortunately everything we have done or not done in the last 10 years tells Putin he can act with impunity, the fiasco in Syria, annexation of Crimea,we never learn and our lack of action has resulted in this escalation ,sometimes it's better to face a bully down earlier or the price we pay later will be much higher. Worrying times indeed.

Disturbing. Do you think they are challenging Boden? More likely he is taking advantage of a divided and preoccupied West. Whether this is sabre rattling or whether he actually does go further, there is nothing we can do really, aside from a few words and some sanctions. Many in Europe need the gas (see Nordstream 2 and Germany) plus the Sputnik vaccine. The question is will he stop at Eastern Ukraine and just a land border/corridor with Crimea or will he go further? The Baltic states have large Russian minorities and even though in the EU and NATO, they are undefended in reality if he calls our bluff.

If the Baltic States become threatened I cannot see NATO standing back. Then the bluff is reversed. The challenge will be if China goes after Taiwan. Then what?

Yes to both, but it also goes back much further than that.
Most NATO countries would struggle to put together anything coherent and lot of this goes back to the 90s and early 2000s.

Possible issues in Jordan. "Jordan's top military official has denied reports that the king's half-brother has been arrested as part of an alleged coup attempt against the monarch. But Major General Yousef Huneiti did say that Prince Hamza bin Al-Hussein was asked to stop "movements and activities that are used to target" the security and stability of Jordan. It came after The Washington Post reported that the prince had been detained, while a video purporting to him under house arrest was leaked to several broadcasters." news.sky.com/story/jordans-army-chief-denies-kings-half-brother-has-been-arrested-in-alleged-coup-attempt-12265340

Suez Canal unblocked now, contrary to some Internet memes, this lady was not involved. 😀 "Rumours about Marwa Elselehdar's role on the Ever Given were largely spurred by screenshots of a fake news headline - supposedly published by Arab News - which said she was involved in the Suez incident. The doctored image appears to be from a genuine Arab News story, released on 22 March, which profiles Marwa's success as Egypt's first female ship captain. The picture has been shared dozens of times on Twitter and Facebook. Several Twitter accounts under her name have also spread false claims that she was in involved with the Ever Given. Marwa Elselehdar, 29, told the BBC she has no idea who first spread the story or why they did it." www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-56615521
