I would have taken 1-1 beforehand, regardless of results around us. We are still in touch. For me it was a penalty, and just the standard mistake let’s us down again. Strikers never even remotely look like scoring which is the biggest issue. If the defence is prone to a mistake and your forwards never score you’re in trouble. We go again though. UTG We really do have a pair of clowns up front. Which manager was it that thought they’d be good enough to be the cutting edge we’d be relying on to score goals?

Seems that Wigan and Wimbledon are up for it more than us, more goals and less prone to losing concentration. Praying for a miracle.

We are going to need to beat Crewe and MK Dongs for sure...
Can’t see us getting much from Lincoln, Portsmouth or Blackpool.
Even six points might not be enough. .

So who do we play up front as it is clear Ayunga and Hanlan are not going to find the net. So depressing when they didn't even look capable of scoring today.

You all moan about JB blaming the officials but listen to yourselves lol. Look at the Swindon decision and today’s decision? We’d literally be 5 points better off but for a factor that is completely out of our control. I agree with you but my point is,the fans can blame the refs but when JB does he gets it in the neck wouldn’t you agree ?

Neither test the keeper, the only time I notice they are playing is when they drop back to the halfway line where they are even more ineffective as a striker.

Thought the officials were ok to be honest. For me Ayunga is'nt up to this level yet. He has no anticipation, and his passing is pretty woeful, and today the midfield wasn't very good.

Our strikers or lack of today cost us, a one goal lead is always iffy. Still four points from our last two games is more than most thought we would get. UTG

Let's face it we won't ever win anything trophy wise so does it make any difference what division we are in,just turn up have a beer, have a crack with mates and watch some sh**e football,or buy a man city shirt and be a glory hunter.

I don’t have a problem with him criticising refs as they have been awful. So have we, but you need these things to go your way when you’re fighting relegation. 5 points lost to poor decisions and potentially the red card at Burton lost us points too. That would have us looking nearly safe...

Six points will definitely not be enough. I think we will need 10 - where they will come from who knows. Three home games - Lincoln, MK, Crewe - if we do well, maybe 7 points? Two away - Pompey and Blackpool - nil points. One hope is that Blackpool are safely in the play offs and want to save themselves for those games (he says clutching at straws)

How can a referee allow Northampton to not only keep taking the throw in from the wrong spot but then to run 2 yards further forward with it before releasing it. Why are our defenders so weak despite being built wellenough. Baldwin always gets pushed around far too easily when the ball is in the air. He has one bambi on ice moment every game. I can't see us staying up now-our strikers are pathetic and please keep0 Westbro0oke away from all free kicks and corners.

Cant see that we’d be getting 3 points anywhere else. We needed this one to then kick on imo. Should have buried this game. Northampton were poor and unfortunately so are we.
There was a glimmer of hope on Monday, how foolish of me.

JB said a point wouldn’t be a disaster, but with Wigan and Wimbledon hitting form beating Northampton was our last chance. I think we’ve blown it.

Ayunga and Hanlan don’t work together
We look best when we play Hanlan up top with a 3 behind
Such a shame we lost Nicco and Rodders at a crucial time
Hopefully Rodman back soon. I’d go Walker Westbrook and Rodman as the 3 but whoever plays we are struggling for goals. Biggest crime of my time supporting going the entire season with 3 unproven strikers.

A draw is better than losing. A northampton win would have seen them 5 pts clear of rovers and at this stage of the season thats a lot to pull back. Unfortnate not to take the win home today. Rovers played a spoiling game most of the time and it worked...mostly. Again a player falls over and a goal comes from it. When rovers had to play again to regain the lead they were the better team. Rovers bad luck again hit the crossbar ball falls hits the keeper on the back and...goes to safety. You can bet if that was another team it would have gone in.
Still the aim is to take points from every game till the season ends. 4pts from 2 games...thats still promotion form lets not forget.

Haven’t been following this thread so FWIW: We played ok, nothing special but far superior to Northampton. It wasn’t a penalty imo. Baldwin and the forward fell over and the Northampton player got the penalty. They were falling over all match and he got the decision. I’ve not criticised refs all season but today that one was awful. He allowed the match to deteriorate because he never punished or set the standard from the start. Don’t know if he doesn’t like us or just plain incompetent. Our defence was very good but the one mistake, if you call it that, and we lost a goal. Set pieces better and we did pose a threat from them. Unfortunately Ayunga and Hanlan first touches are poor and always gives the opposition time to clear. Ayunga really should have been away in the first half but his touch and lack of speed did for him. Shame that AFCW and Wigan won but with Swindon and Rochdale losing it could have been a lot worse. Still along way to go although another two points today would have been sweet. We go again. UTG!
