It certainly is a strange game though- If Upson’s shot was an inch lower the last 2 pages on here would be completely different! Such fine margins!

This is Rovers.
Whether its promotion or relegation battles we always do it the hard way.
1990, We had to claw back City's big lead and only clinched it on the final day.
1998, threw away a 3-1 1st league and lost 3-0 in the 2nd leg to Northampton.
2000, we did it the other way round and managed to throw it away.
2007, Mid table obscurity for 90% of the season, managed to squeek in the Play Offs on the final day.
2014, beat Wycombe away and we all celebrated, then Mansfield beat us in our kit and the only time we were in the relegation zone all season saw us go down.
2015, a Will Puddy clanger in the last minute at Dover meant we didn't win the league that day, then in the Play Off Final v Grimsby it was the most nail biting game I've ever witnessed with Rovers, and took the lottery of a Penalty Shoot out to win.
2016, it took Lee Brown with the very last kick of the season to beat an already relegated Dagenham to send us all wild.
It wouldn't be Rovers without it.

That was horrible to watch, yet again we've managed to somehow fail to keep a clean sheet when the opposition have barely had a shot. We will definitely need at least 7 points from our 3 home games, not losing keeps us in touch with Northampton who have the toughest run in of everyone. Still just about in touch but we will have to be better than we were today

It will now take an extraordinary change in form and fortune to stay up. Poor recruitment, three managers in a matter of months, key players injured, not getting the rub of the green from officials so many reasons.
Unfortunately, there is simply not enough goals in the teams to give me confidence and a defensive error can be predicted as regular as clockwork.
I think the effort is there, well from most anyway, but injuries and the failure to recruit in January has left us with a squad that's now 2 or 3 proved players short of what was needed for survival.
Would love to know the true story about the recruitment failure in January. Was it Tis being stubborn wanting Stockley or no one or did TWs black book let us down.

Whatever happens, don't see a lot from today being with us next season. Our lack of goal threat is such a major flaw but guess everyone knows that. Agree the failure to sign a couple of forwards in Jan could well compound BG's failure to expand our impotent strike force.Luke Leahy being our leading striker rather says it all. Hanlan,Ayunga,Tutonda Never score so we have to make do with what we have which sadly ain't much!!! So miss Big Tone's influence out there and Westbrooke no match for Sercs.

Feels like a loss and 2 points gifted away to our relegation rivals by a combination of our own lack of football ability and an extremely poor referee who bought Northampton's play acting throughout the entire game. The stats say we committed 23 fouls, 23, really???!
I will watch the replay back for the pen decision but my view of it during the game was that our player was shoved to the floor before their player was tripped which is surely not a pen. That said you have to question why one of our centre backs is so easily out muscled in that situation.
Although it feels like we have been on the wrong end of a lot of officiating decisions yet again today I think some of our players just aren't tough or savvy enough to compete with the likes of Northampton's more streetwise squad. I'm not paying respect to the cheating bast*rds for that but imo it's that lack of experience in our very young squad that is making the difference and costing us points.

I think Swindon and Rochdale are gone and it’s four teams for 2 places of safety. Big night on Tuesday with Wimbledon and Wigan both with difficult games against Ipswich and Sunderland. Results need to go our way now if we’re to have a chance.

So who do we play up front as it is clear Ayunga and Hanlan are not going to find the net. So depressing when they didn't even look capable of scoring today. In think Daly or Walker need more than the odd 10 minutes and playing as a striker and not a winger, problem is i cant see it happening. We will go down because our two main strikers don't score enough, we know that, JB knows that but dear old Tommy didn't and there lies the problem!

Scrappy game but if you look at Northampton's recent home matches you'll see they are all tight affairs with very few goals.
The way Northampton play means most games are going to pan out that way.
I think it's the main reason Ayunga got the nod ahead of Walker today. Northampton are a very physical side that score a lot of goals from set pieces.
If it wasn't for the penalty I think we'd be saying we did pretty well. Got our noses in front and other than the penalty Jaakkola had nothing to do; they only had one other shot on target.
I think we deserved the win but yet again one silly mistake has cost us.
Unfortunately with Wigan and Wimbledon having confidence boosting big wins away from home I don't think one point today is enough.
Wimbledon and Wigan now hot favourites to stay up in my opinion. Both have winnable fixtures to come.

Unfortunately we dropped 2 what could have been vital points by drawing. However it is a point and we are not out of it.
Big games Tuesday, we can hope Ipswich and Sunderland do us a favour and Rochdale and Swindon Draw.
We go again next week, with 2 games at home, 2 games unbeaten, let's make it 4 picking up 6 points.

JB said a point wouldn’t be a disaster, but with Wigan and Wimbledon hitting form beating Northampton was our last chance. I think we’ve blown it. Not sure you can call teams winning just one game "hitting form"? Wimbledon play Ipswich and Wigan play Sunderland next if they both win those games then you can say they are hitting form, chances are they'll both lose.

2 mens to blame for this and that's Garner and Widdrington getting players that are not league 1 standard

Interesting Joey Barton mentioning forwards not scoring post match and not getting in the box he said a lack of quality which we have all known about when the season started

Baldwin was Posh's captain at 19 and also played for Sunderland, unlike Harries, he's not just started playing senior football, he should know the game as well as most pros. Last week it was a silly slip costing us a goal, now this week he's muscled off the ball.

The great win against Doncaster should have inspired us to put Northampton to the sword today, but as with the few previous good victories this year the inspration effect went missing. Barton has been scathing again today calling out our "strikers"as Tisdale (he's not a magician) did, but I am afraid this lot are going to take us down and I question whether enough of them care as much as the dozen Supporters who turned up to watch. Did they even witness our goal?

IMHO Daly is a good finisher but 5 mins here and there is no good and snag is he does not offer so much outside the box as Ayunga and Hanlan, like to see him start and paired with Hanlan again.
