Unfortunately you can’t just give under contract players a pay cut. Let’s hope they at least have a relegation pay cut clause in their contracts, but knowing Rovers I doubt it! JB's already suggested they will take a pay cut, I'd be surprised if they didn't have the clause in their contracts. Knowing what weasels footballers agents are they're probably already lining up deals for next season. let's hope they do.tuey can shaft the clubs they join as well.the ones will pride will give their wage back

Good interview, a couple of points
1. Likely to be single figures left from this season = massive clear out and gives JB no excuses
2. When asked if he regretted the decision he didn't give a straight answer
3. Think there was a dig at TW regarding the fact he never would have let that group come together.
I think he will give absolutely everything over the summer.. onwards and upwards

I can't understand how people don't get that this is not his fault. The interview tonight is one of the most honest that I have ever heard from a manager of any club.Even the bit where he is asked about regretting take the job.

Sounded to me as though he wasn't sure he would be here for the start of next season

Sounded to me as though he wasn't sure he would be here for the start of next season Natural though for a manager who has just taken a team to relegation? I think as much of it hinges on Wael being on board with making changes within the club. I for one will be fuming if Joey goes and Widdrington stays. You can forget season ticket purchases if that's the case. It'll be like Garner being kept on for a third Dam season. Enough dross.

From the single figures comment... Who do you think they might be ? Or who he would want as he will be restricted heavily by contracts.,
Jaakkola
Walker Martinez Ayunga ( maybe) Rodman Williams Leahy
Struggling after that...

wow, very damning. "There are some in there who are fortunate to be professional footballers and in 12 months time I think there are a few of them who will be very very fortunate to still be in the professional game". I don't like managers sh**ting on their own players but in this instance, now that we're down, I am glad he's come out and said this. Some of these players are stealing a living and they need to be told so. For all his off field antics and the baggage that comes with him, I for one am happy we have JB. Give him a chance to sign the players he wants because I believe he will sign players that will give 100% on the pitch. And as a Rovers supporter that's all I want... at least it's the bare minimum requirement anyway! A lot in this squad have not fought for our shirt and I just hope we can shift them on. UTG

I saw a comment from someone on here earlier that has swayed me on Rodman and Leahy. Though I think those two have done enough to earn a new contract, we might have to let them go to make room for new players. So much of the dross we signed last Summer are tied down for at least another year so it might be hard to get rid of them to make space for the new. On another note, I personally wouldn't want to keep Williams. We needed someone because we were desperate of course - Little has stolen £3000 a week from us for two years, JH looks out of depth, Ehmer shocking. But Williams hasn't done enough imo, at fault for the first goal tonight - he should have been first to that ball after AJ saved.

I don't mind him saying it after we're effectively relegated. It was the pre-match comments, in much the same tone, which got to me. A win tonight and defeats elsewhere would have helped. Barton had no idea how other results would go when he started blaming everyone again, but he wanted to get his excuses in early. At the same time as the managers of the other crap sides at the foot of the table were motivating their boys to squeeze out those vital last minute victories. Even basket cases like Swindon and Rochdale.

JB clearly knew some of them were not up for it the whole time he has been here and why he continued to play them is not right. It's a shame that some of the other youngsters we have had not had more opportunities they deserve I hope belatedly some do now get a chance.

He is dire and is a big part of the problem here. Has everyone forgotten he was laughing and joking with his mate when we conceded a goal not too long ago? Awful player and a awful singing in my eyes

Alright guys. I'm spending too much time worrying about Rovers and not enough time on important things in life so I'm taking some time off for a couple of weeks.
Stay safe, guys. Stay happy. There's so much more to life.
Love to all.x

The bit where JB made criticism of the lack of goals and strikers not good enough etc and more or less said the whole recruitment wasn’t good was like listening to the comments in PT last interview, some will say those comments lost PT his job ! Barton’s been even more blunt and to the point .. Both were telling some home truths in my opinion shame some people within the club don’t like the truth . Too many pointing the finger at each other . Just hope certain persons are moved on now who have failed in their jobs ,players and staff.

Barton, in his post-match debrief, also revealed “double figures” players use chewing tobacco, including while they’re training.
“My first day at the training ground, there’s 11 pouches of chewing tobacco on the floor on the training pitch.
I have had to say to some of the lads “what is going on here?” Credit to some of them, some have changed and turned, but the damage is done if in February I’m having to tell you to stop sticking 43g of nicotine under your top lip.
What is this all about and who was allowing this before JB got here?!
