I think I’ll take the pain of being relegated to League Two, if that ambition of truly establishing ourselves as a good League One side again remains. To me, the thought of losing that and accepting a mid table League Two status is the height of unambition. This isn’t me saying we will win the league next year, because the reality is we won’t, however we need to set that target of bouncing back at the first attempt, the longer we remain in League Two, the harder it will become. Plymouth and Coventry have done it in recent years, with Tranmere and Bolton looking likely to do it this year. We need to get ourselves into that bracket of clubs. The positive thing about L2 is there are 4 promotion spots. It will take a big rebuild job but even if we start badly then we've got a lot of opportunity to catch up. Unlike the conference where there was less margin for error. I'm optimistic that it won't take us too long as think Wael will give enough backing to get us back up but under no illusions that it won't be easy and I will review again after the summer's activity. Success is so few and far between for this club that I’m not expecting it next season. However, we’ve got to look at Plymouth and have that as a model to aspire towards. Modest redevelopment of their stadium, backed their scouse manager to bring in his type of players, went back up in their first season in League Two. Just think if we get into that mindset of failure, we’ll end up happy finishing 12th in League Two, which personally I wouldn’t be.

Honestly, we've got to do better than 12th spot. We've got no divine right to come back up but a mid table position is not good enough. Anything less than challenging for a play off spot would be disappointing. This summer's recruitment and offloading will be so important.

Next Two Seasons.2020/2021 Relegated to League Two. 2021/2022 Promoted to League One as Champions & win Pizza Cup. 2022/2023 Promoted to Championship via play-offs. knocked out of league cup in Semi-final.

Based on the last twenty seasons our average finishing position is 4th in League 2. So we are realistically a good League 2 team. I think we are therefore entitled to expect to do well next season but we also shouldn't be shocked that we have been relegated. However, because we all still think of ourselves as rightful, and decent, League 1 team (myself included!) it always feels much worse going down.

This club has been an absolute embarrassment for the last 21 years.
I think it's best just to play it by ear, as history suggests we've got more chance of struggling than being anywhere near the top next season.

Looking forward to the first shout of “ we’ve gotta give them time to gel” after 6 points from the first 5 games 😀

Also Coventry, even Bury (though best not to emulate them) and Swindon have done this in recent seasons. And Bolton and Tranmere could do it again this season. Need to keep our nerve in the next few months and not panic. 3 signings who go straight into the first team in the mould that JB wants could transform this squad and make a big difference. But after his most recent interview I’m not sure JB is inclined to keep that many of this squad. UTG!

But only two relegation places! Phew.
And we beat Walsall and Orient so we should be able to stop the rot.
Unfortunately the Garner legacy is going to have an effect for at least one more season, but hopefully next season we can see if any of the youngsters can actually start to fulfill any potential.

Will update this with more teams when promotions and relegations are confirmed but at the moment it looks like these teams will be in League Two next year: Swindon Bristol Rovers Crawley Bradford Port Vale Oldham Stevenage Harrogate Mansfield Walsall Scunthorpe Colchester Barrow I've just noticed Rochdale and Northampton will definitely be joining us.

The betting will be interesting. Can see us being favourites if Bolton go up.
