In fairness, they did win something - Respect. Nobody remembers runner up. My grandchildren won’t be asking about stories of the final we lost. I can see everyone wants to see the bright side. Good on you all, if you can brush games like that off, great. We never used to. All the teams in the past got kickings. Beckham had effigies burned of him. This year it’s “effort medal” apparently. The world has evidently changed to not the winning that counts, it’s the taking part. It’s hard adjusting. Personally I glad we are not burning effigies (I recall it was a hanged one). It's sport, not everyone gets to win, only one team each campaign can lift the trophy. I know you are hurting but this constant verbosity isn't healthy.

Ah yeah, the good old days when hooligans would burn photos of players because they lost to a better team. No surprise to see you've played down the violence and in fact all of last nights shenanigans. How about you go to Cabot circus and burn a cardboard cutout of Saka, see where that'll get you. Hey, all in the good nature of competitive sport eh? I didn’t play down the violence. You didn’t read the whole thing and you just grabbed the first sentence and misinterpreted it. I was questioning the BBC using the tweets as a lead story as opposed to game coverage. You’d know that if you’d bothered to read it, which you didn’t. You’re a bit partisan for a moderator. You are way out of line accusing me of that. Miles over it, in fact.

If you want to be a multi millionaire, have any woman you want, get bought beer anywhere, and retire at 35, then you have to cope with stick when you don’t justify it. We have love ins for multi millionaires. People are getting evicted from their houses, beaten and hungry and Twitter and the BBC are more preoccupied with abusive tweets and the self esteem of millionaires. It is getting verbose, this is becoming damaging for everyone now. For everyone’s benefit I’m out / just to be clear this isn’t a rage quit - I’m just venting, I presume this was just as valid as the converse opinion ut it’s clearly getting on peoples tits so it’s best I just close the door on the way out.

You've admitted you've only seen things on social media, which 99.99% of people call disgusting, you've said it's been bigged up by the media. You don't think that's playing it down? I read your post, and I haven't changed my mind. Its ridiculous. Sorry for having a different opinion to yours, I guess as a moderator, I'm not allowed one. Maybe you can burn a cardboard cut out of the word 'Gassy' tonight. Those were the good old days, after all.

For the record I am far from a holigan, I am an extremely upset fan who invested a lot of emotional capital in this team and can’t get over it. I feel the BBC hate football fans and working class people and loudly point to things like racist tweets and hooliganism as it furthers their “knuckle dragging white van man” view on things. That’s how they see people like us, generally. I have been told by several people in real life that I’m over the top and pretty boring to listen to right now, so I accept that. And I will try to not bring you down.

And I will try to not bring you down. In your perspective, perhaps. But from someone who was at the ground, I can tell the the media has covered the atrocious scenes very well. Within reason, always state your opinion! It's a forum where we're all here to agree, disagree, love and hate each other. The world would be a boring place if we all agreed! Like with either side of a discussion, when the same point is over repeated, it loses its message and we all get fed up of it. We're all hurting right now, just in different ways. We all have different ways of processing it. Btw, I completely disagree with your comments about the BBC and their views on football fans. I also don't think it's just BBC reporting the racist comments, rather British media in general.

Sadly I think this has proven that this team are bottlers, just like teams before. It could take us 10 years to reach another final. This team aren’t that good that they’re getting to finals every tournament. We had 2 of our best chances with the route through and bottled it. We should be ashamed, not proud, of what happened. I’ve had enough of England teams doing this- all my life it’s been the same. Meanwhile Italy, Spain, even Croatia have been ahead of us. Greece are ahead in the modern era as are Denmark. The Italians are even worse than we are in the pressure on the team. It’s about time we called out failure for what it is and start with other players if these guys are going to bottle it. Nonsense.

But come on, today it’s even worse. You talk about perspective but I’m afraid you don’t have any. Do what you said you’d do, stop and walk away. UTG!

It’s not overly complicated why other countries dislike the English, we’re seen by many as a yob nation. Football and tourism has exacerbated that opinion over the last 50 years. The booing of anthems and the scenes in London last night do little to change that. We have now developed a “no one likes us we don’t care attitude” You've been brainwashed by sky news. If it wasn't reported as much that a few thousand people from a population of 50 odd million booed a song, nobody would even know. UK inbound tourism is in the top 10 for the world with many heading for London. The scenes in London can be replicated in many countries under similar circumstances. Englishmen can be their own worst critics and rather than reinforcing the negativity, why not focus on some of the great things this country does? I won't condone any unreasonable behaviour but it's not as bad as our media and sh1tstirring influencers make it out to be. Italy as an example since they were our competition-Hooliganism widespread, knifings in Rome, police attacked by flares, racism in abundance, corruption. I thought you maybe interested in this brainwashing article. Pretty sure we can kiss goodbye to the 2030 World Cup while the nation bury’s its head in the sand. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/england-italy-fans-attack-crime-euros-b1883389.html?amp

They made the mistake of letting 3 very young players take the penalties. Especially a teenager! sorry age has absolutely nothing to do with it! There wasn’t one player on that pitch with the experience! We’ve not reached a final since 66. If the player is old enough to play, he’s old Enough to take a penalty. I would say that it was a mistake to play a 19 year old in the final

On Sunday night he was walking home after the game and got jumped by three blokes. He was beaten within an inch of his life and stopped breathing. A first aider had to resuscitate him in the gutter. He saved his life. He is in hospital and doing well. Welcome to England.

Luckily there are good people out there as seen in the person that came to his aid.

What were Brazil thinking playing a 17 year old in the 1958 final !!!
