The nation is hardly burying it's head in the sand! Its on the news every 30 minutes. I thought you believed it to be brainwashing. I don’t think you’re alone in that either. I think people are totally unaware of the seriousness of the problem My brainwashing comment was in response to "It’s not overly complicated why other countries dislike the English, we’re seen by many as a yob nation." What do you mean by this? I could guess I suppose but are you referring to our footy fans being yobs, which others elsewhere tarnish our country with?

From my experience since the 70’s our tourists and football fans have earned the country a reputation as having a yob culture that’ travels abroad. Other countries may have a similar element in society but rarely seen to travel in the same way. It really isn’t complicated and the report g of it doesn’t amount to brainwashing. Once you gain that reputation everything you do goes under the microscope. The behaviour of England fans on Sunday is just another opportunity for that reputation to become cemented in people’s minds

So I guess this is a European thing? We certainly take over regions of Spain, Cyprus, and mob up in places like Holland and Germany. In my experience, away from the usual hotspots of English 'lad' tourist destination, other nationals haven't got a bad opinion of us. I can't speak for everywhere obviously and no doubt other posters have a view. But, as a frequent traveller abroad with lots of time spent overseas in areas where groups of English wouldn't go, the locals are very welcoming. My point is that our media will hammer home how sh1t we are. When actually we just have a very small % of n0bheads. Pretty much like every other country. To compensate for the idiots, we spend an awful lot of money abroad and have a lot of people who give a good account if themselves.

sorry age has absolutely nothing to do with it! There wasn’t one player on that pitch with the experience! We’ve not reached a final since 66. If the player is old enough to play, he’s old Enough to take a penalty. I would say that it was a mistake to play a 19 year old in the final ok

I see Harry Maguire's father was injured at Wembley when the idiots broke into the stadium through the disabled entrance he was using. Not in the best of health his father suffered several broken ribs when knocked over in the stampede and is suffering with breathing difficultys. I wish him a speedy recovery.

I know that the behaviour is by the minority, I know the press love an extreme story but that reputation exists and it’s naive to believe it doesn’t. Of course they love our money who wouldn’t. The reputation is quite subtle for instance my experience has shown me that the Swiss in major cities have a very dim view of the English and that’s often down to the behaviour from English women. I don’t dispute generally we’re a nation that can behave but we need to be extra mindful of our reputation. The behaviour at football over the last week, could, cost the nations lost billions if we fail to get 2030 here

Agree, take it on the chin and move on. Southgate played too defensively in a final and we lost, end of.

I haven’t seen the highlights of either challenges, but my friend tells me that the studs seemed accidental? But yeah, I’m not sure

Both players arrived at the ball within a fraction of a second of each other. The Italian went to toe end the ball and his boot was knocked up in the tackle. No way was it foul play.

I've never come across the term 'jibbing', but from the footage I've seen a lot of those people looked old enough to remember Hillsborough..... What a bunch of c****.....

Ban them all from live football I say. This type of pathetic, violent behaviour should not be tolerated, and should carry consequences that may deter "some" dickheads from doing similar in future.

Just goes to show that football hooliganism, and the culture that surrounds it, is alive and well in this country. It's been suppressed and controlled but not cured. The morons in this sub-culture rise up and break out given any opportunity. At least the Euro final was played in London and not abroad, so we didn't have to witness the idiots running riot in someone else's capital city and shaming the nation even more than they already have.

What total nonsense, in that case why did he even get a yellow? As the BBC commentary team suggested it probably warranted an amber!

It is disgusting. You can see how a few hundred quid could be appealing though to a steward, probably on minimum wage. Found the article interesting.
