Nah - sorry if you're getting withdrawal symptoms. Not deleted a thread for months. But whatever floats your boat. FWIW I deleted Tilly’s earlier thread not RoverDrive.

If what you say is what the CPS and police believe, why on earth was he given unconditional bail? If they have the slightest worry it could happen again, why on earth did they not stop him from contacting his wife, let alone continue to live with her and the kids? The club have stated what the judge said, but you have clearly judged him guilty until proved innocent. It's not difficult to get unconditional bail. In fact that is the starting point. That’s not true - the majority of custody sgts in DV cases will always look at imposing conditions if there’s even a hint of the person reoffending whilst on bail; they would have to have a seriously persuasive solicitor to get unconditional bail in those circumstances.

Thing is it isn't going away. Innocent or not, if he takes to the dugout for us, he is going to get pelters more than ever from opposition fans and even some of our own if things start badly Start badly lol. He's already got the worst managerial record in our history 😂 Statistically he has only won 1 more game than he has active legal cases.

In light of the bullsh*t brigade on here saying club should put out a statement and when they put out a statement its ripped to shreds, how about you lot put your own statement on the subject on here so we can all scrutinise it ? they could have just put out their statement without the offensive "Victimless Crime" bit EVven if anyone then thought it was poor, it MAY have bought them some breathing space. Instead the club have embarrassed themselves and caused even more bad publicity, by looking even more f**king clueless by putting that crass (mis)quote in their statement If anyone doesn't find the victimless crime bit out of touch with any sort of decency, then I probably don't want to converse with them And once more for the hard of understanding . . . It’s supposed to read “Victimless Prosecution”; this has been explained over and over, it’s the proper legal term for this type of prosecution. The club should have run the statement past a solicitor (or at least a proofreader) before publishing it, but I reckon it was an honest mistake by someone who is not au fait with legal terminology. I don’t seriously believe for one second that there was any dark intent behind this gaffe, like some people seem to be hinting at . . .

slander noun [ C or U ] UK /ˈslɑːn.dər/ US /ˈslæn.dɚ/
a false spoken statement about someone that damages their reputation, or the making of such a statement: The doctor is suing his partner for slander.

There's no way the club didn't know about this before it hit the press. Most likely they were banking on it getting thrown out and they could keep it all quiet. Then joining a domestic violence campaign 2 weeks ago once it was clear it would come out to try and put the club in a better light What makes you so convinced the club knew about it weeks ago? I’m fairly sure Barton wouldn’t have said anything until the point he was informed the CPS were proceeding Probably late last week) in the hope that it would be dropped. Do you think the police would have informed BRFC at the point he was first arrested or something? Not unless he’s in what is known as a “Notifiable Occupation”, such as Teacher, NHS, Armed Forces, Police, etc. Then there is a legal obligation to notify the employer.

Could cost the club a third of its gate by the poll, so lets say 8000 average and 50/50 between tickets and season tickets. So they could lose potentially 24k max (at 18 quid a ticket) every home match until resolved. In theory. Money talks wael. Sadly I doubt that many people will follow through on it. However, reduced income is one of the ONLY things our club really does listen to. Several managers in the past have gone once crowds go down. It hits the cash flow pretty hard.

It’s very difficult to gauge how it will go. Just taken an insomnia induced look on Facebook and there seems to be a lot of support for him in there. A younger age group I guess.

If you do not want to read or participate in a particular thread then don't click on it - easy! what if hes innocent of both crimes ? We can still debate the wider issues, like intelligent, caring human beings. Including his long track record of violence to other people.

can we just f**king stop talking about joey barton and his so say crimes lock all threads ffs and worry about it if he is found guilty of a crime this is getting f**king ridiculous now The forum users will only be happy when Barton is confirmed as an abuser and is sacked. I would be happy if he stopped doing stupid things, won a few games and had a long and successful career with us.

In my mind, typo or no typo, I don't understand why it was necessary? If their position is to stand with Barton, just say "not guilty until proven otherwise so we will await the outcome and go from there". Instead it comes across as a snipe and that they have already made their minds up Barton is innocent, as well as belittling domestic abuse. It was totally and utterly needless, smacks of unprofessionalism and only creates further divides. I'm still absolutely flabbergasted they did it.

Strangely get the impression that there will be some so happy if Joey is confirmed to have beaten his wife and can say I told you so. There are some still banging on about the statements, as if they have never made an error of judgment. Wael tried to clear up the clubs stance yet still it is not enough.

It's not enough as the statement is plainly wrong, what other club would publish it when even the likes of the Times and Refuge are critising it. Wael should have just accepted the statement was an error of judgement and removed it, it's hardly needs to be on our website anyway, as it's not going to alter the outcome of the trial.
