Belshaw is only 30, coming into his prime. Van der Sar was still playing for Man Utd when he was 40!

One of the few fans left backing Barton to turn this around when players get to full fitness...

Got a fear Anssi might leave … I’ve been a long-standing fan of the Jak and usually I do think he is at least League One level. However, with injuries and international duty it just feels like it might be best to have a consistent keeper.

Would love Harrison to be one of the five.
Okay, not a world beater and no JCH but he'd be a major asset at this level.
He can be the focal point of our attacks. Strong, quick, pretty good in the air and at 27, still in his prime.
Unlikely given L1 interest but if we could get it done, our chances of success rocket in my opinion.

I am like you pucklechurchgas I am a big fan of Anssi but he has picked up a fair few injuries I would not be surprised if he left as well

Of last seasons 3 managers, Barton has the worst record. Last season came across like he gave up, not my fault, look what I’ve got to work with blah blah
Ironically BG hasn’t started too bad, different club, different remit. I agreed with his dismissal at the time but it leaves you wondering whether it was the coach or the Gas DNA remit to bring in young and hungry and get rid of high wage earners.
Careful what you wish really I suppose.

How many clean sheets has he kept this season and in that game, how many shots on target were there by the opposition? He had no chance with the "fluke" goal yesterday? It'll be interesting to see if Jaakola moves on this week, assuming he's not out injured again, as otherwise he'll be an expensive bench warmer.

Part of it driven to cut the wage bill.

I guess that fits the anti BoD remit? Given neither Coughlin, Tisdale nor Barton followed the same path I sense it was Garner convincing the BoD with his fancy PP presentation.

It was actually a good plan, it was just executed really poorly. The board have then bottled it and gotten themselves into an almighty muddle. It's amazing how much of a mess we've gotten into, due to the board's incompetence.

Given neither Coughlin, Tisdale nor Barton followed the same path I sense it was Garner convincing the BoD with his fancy PP presentation. WAQ, Starnes and TW all said it in interviews. Let’s face it, what coach or manager applies for the job on the basis of reducing the wage bill?
