What did we pay for him? I wasn’t aware we paid anything? We definitely paid a fee, a club record fee received for WSM.... Correct. The last night we scouted him and agreed a deal was a Tuesday night when they beat Larkhall 6-0. Barry Fry was there that night and stayed overnight to also agree a deal, with Derby and Wolves also scouting him in the weeks prior and Fulham even handed him a trial. If we hadn't have signed him then Peterborough certainly would have.

Pirate you seem to have very good knowledge of youth players, in your opinion do you honestly think any of our current youngsters could/will eventually make the first team as regular starters? Like the next Chris Lines Ollie Clarke etc
This is a genuine question btw I actually would value your opinion on this.

Lots of variables and it's difficult to say with certainty, but if anyone will then you'd possibly look to the current Academy Player of the Year Jerry Lawrence, maybe defender Will Larvin, the defender/midfielder Max Edwards-Stryjewski has already made a first team appearance and appeared for Wales at U17 level and in the younger age groups Ollie Dewsbury has appeared for Wales Schools sides. There may be others that develop quickly technically or physically that push there way ahead in the pecking order. I would be interested to get gasyouthwatch thoughts.

I agree with a everything on your statement there Pirate. I am not sure with Max Edwards-Stryjewski, word was a year ago he got his start to calm his Dad down Rob Edwards ( Welsh selector) as he wanted him out of the academy as he said the coaching was terrible and the pathway was poor but not seem anything of him of Late. I like Jerry Lawrence a lot, always consistent and a really nice lad, upset a few parents when training as injured half the age group up with some biting challenges but I loved his commitment! Will Larvin has come on leaps and bounds in the last year or so and think he may get an opportunity. It is strange as there were some half tidy players ( Lucas Vaughan and Jarmani Langlais) in the current crop of 18's but their football of late has been poor, Jarmani still strong and holds ball up well but his finishing and passing has a lot to be desired.

I love to see home grown players make it at rovers but I think to many fans tend to want it to happen whether they’re good enough or not. I appreciate the good responses from yourself and pirate 👌🏻 It’s a hard question to answer I’m sure as every single one of our youngsters are this far along for a reason, they all have potential and ability no doubt. Here’s hoping a gem or 2 rise above the pack to that necessary level 🙏🏻 Utg

I never thought that lad Santos we had year back (for example) would make it far as he just seemed far to weak for mens football. Of course you need the ability to back up the physicality as well tho. Shows how much it takes to make it I guess
