Good post Simon. I think those of us who were backing Barton to get things right were not those who were blaming him for the relegation. He was accused by many of giving up, but in my opinion that squad was full of weak minded individuals who simply could not deal with going a goal behind. Joey called them out for that as well as their fitness etc etc and the events of this season have proved him right. He had a mass clear out, the team took time to gel before picking up in December. The transfer window followed, he added Anderson and Connolly and the story is now history. He had created a hard working ream no matter who played, heads did not drop when the opposition scored and their fitness was superior to the opposition without a shadow of doubt. Joey has proved himself at Fleetwood in league one getting them to the playoffs in his second season. He then lost his job a few months into the following season, and from what has been said our owner asked him to take the job and did not rely on Starmes and Widdringtons imput. As you say next season will be difficult but I don't feel we could be in any better hands than Joey and with the owner and CEO saying we are going to give it a good go, it could be an interesting season.

I have many of these types of thread in my mind, because this place really annoyed me at a time when backs should have been against the wall. Next season is going to be difficult. I know some of you lot are predicting this and that and apparently the PO games haven't impressed. Well I think it's going to be a big step up and some of our players and tactics will be found out by better squads. Barton is likely to speak in his strange ways when we are up against it. With hindsight, the bloke is a bit of a genius. Certainly cleverer than 99% of the posters on this thread anyway. His method of using metaphors, biblical references and ancient quotes certainly irked people when we were losing games, but now looking back, he was spot on and that was just his way of explaining the situation. Do we think the forum will have more patience next time we have a bad spell or a player who doesn't set the world alight after 3 games?(Coutts) We have a new bumper on the forum 😁 better not be after my crown 👑

Joey, "knows exactly what we need", he proved every body wrong and delivered automatic promotion, as promised. The team he has put together imo is the best since Gerry's promotion winning team, and the quality of the football, since the win away at Harrogate, has been first class.Utg

The same as every other footy forum I expect. Could be a meltdown If we don’t put 7 past Melksham .

Maybe those posters you are having a dig at should wait until the cycle repeats and Mr Barton is eventually sacked (as most managers are) and they could re-bump all the bumpers? People have opinions. Sometimes they are right, sometimes they are wrong. If people are to only post in the knowledge they can never be wrong in the future there will be nobody here.

Do we think posters will be less inclined to be so hostile next time we find ourselves in the mire? I'd like to think so.

Do we really need to be bumping threads like this?
People were understandably hacked off after a long poor run of form which had seen us relegated and start the season badly.
If they weren’t enamoured would it really be that big of a surprise?
I understand and agree with the message but I’m not sure bumping this thread is helpful.

Posting a link is a better option though. Looking back it looks like I may have been in the phase where I had lost hope. Not long before I had been looking back for threads where people hadn’t had faith in DC but thought against it as it made some decent posters look not so good. Unfortunately sometimes people bump to try and mug other posters off. Sometimes we get things wrong. Sometimes we call it absolutely right. I thought Tisdale was going to be a cracking manager (don’t snigger at that one!) others thought he would be terrible and they were ultimately right.

I see some forums with just one thread for each player. That works quite well.

Nobody bothers posting if you just post a link though so a bit pointless really. Some posters mug themselves off. That's the ones I enjoy bumping to be honest!
