So can the Barton haters now get over things. He wasn't guilty of assaulting Stendl and seemingly there is no case to answer regarding allegedly assaulting his wife. think we all know the real truth but he’s found not guilty again so let’s move on ! None of us know what the truth is. Although we will all have suspicions either way. The more worrying aspect of all this is that the CPS and the police to a lesser extent come out of this episode looking fairly incompetent. They didn’t follow their own rules regarding the collection of evidence and any one of us or our families could be at the wrong end of their incompetence. And that should worry anyone. That there was no case to answer, legally speaking, seems an extraordinary position to be in after 16 months. Of course it should have been dismissed far earlier to save public money after what looks like some kind of campaign against JB. It comes across that the CPS hold him to a different set of guidelines when it comes to taking him to court. He will need to continue to be careful. Im glad it’s over for JB, his family, children, Wael (for his continual support) and BRFC (though we come pretty low down the list). Overall it’s been a complete farce and I suspect that some people at the CPS might find their prospects affected, though of course we will never hear about it. UTG!

This was alwaes gonna be an emotive subject when it finally came ta a conclusion.
Fwiw I’m glad he’s able ta continue as our manager, he’s doin a good job, he’s passionate, he’s coaching our young team & inspiring them, hes exciting th vast majority of th fan base an appears ta be leading us in an upward trajectory.
How ever - others do not like him an do not want him here, an I totally get it an I respect their view as we all should. Th truth is he’s not guilty in a court of law , but I think most normal , unbiased folk realise that sadly that doesnae necessarily make him innocent, but at th same time is doesnae make him guilty.
Let’s jes remember ta respect others thoughts an opinions …… thankfully we’re all different, but all Gasheads. 👍🏼

Regardless of personal opinion the judge told him he was free to go so let’s all move on and focus on the football. Hopefully JB will have learnt from this latest episode and he and his wife will be able to put it behind them.
The only people that are going to be disappointed tonight are sadly those cretins on OTIB

That’s good news. He’s clearly a complicated man. It’s very hard to defend him with his long list of previous misdemeanours. I do think that for us, it’s a very good thing. He’s clearly doing a very good job for us and had he been found guilty it could have been catastrophic given how many members of the playing staff and coaching team are here basically just because of him. A clean slate from now, as far as I’m concerned. Now keep out of trouble, Joey!

The only people that are going to be disappointed tonight are sadly those cretins on OTIB that's because they know he will get us into the Championship, little old Rovers on a level playing field as them, they will absolutely hate it when that day comes, assuming they stay there that is, maybe within 2 years we will be there

Don’t be daft, just as many on here as there. UTG! A few were stoking the fire and now seem to have piped down; time now to move in behind the manager, and back Joey in trying to achieve the target of 50 points and hopefully safety. Utg

Not everyone that uses that site is disappointed. UTG Some of us had our minds changed completely over the last 12 months. Am happy to say I was wrong to want Joey out and am delighted for Georgia, the kids and Joey himself that this sham of a case is over. UTFG 🏴☠️

No Tilly it wasn't the Jewel in the Crown it was JB''s crown jewels, good job he had his pants on and they were not on full display.

I thought that this bodycam footage was supposed to be the jewel in the prosecution's crown! What's a bit odd is there's no reference to what Mrs B said to the police when they arrived at the house. She must have said something to them as she apparently told them she didn't want any medical treatment. I'm a bit surprised, given JB's high profile, they attempted to question him without a solicitor being present. Fortunately he was sober and wise enough to just answer "no comment" to all the questions.

I can't believe how smug some have been on here today.
He has not been found innocent, he has simply got away with it because of technicalities Frosty's report
Bristol Rovers manager Joey Barton has been cleared of assaulting his wife after a judge ruled he could not have a fair trial because prosecutors would not call the alleged victim to give evidence. The former Premier League midfielder, 40, was accused of pushing Georgia Barton, 36, to the floor before kicking her during a drunken row at their home in Kew, south-west London on June 2 last year.
Mrs Barton, who is said to have been left with a golf-ball sized bruise on her forehead and a bleeding nose, was “audibly upset and shaken”, when she dialled 999 just before 11.15pm, Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court heard. “My husband has just hit me in the house,” she said, telling the operator she had been left with a “bloody nose” after Barton hit her “just in the face”, before officers arrived at the scene within 25 minutes.

Body-worn footage played in court captured Mrs Barton saying: “I was pushed and kicked about and stuff.” The officer noted “a bit of a lump and some blood”, while speaking to a female officer in a utility room around five minutes later, Mrs Barton said her husband “just flipped out” and “threw me down”.
“He was kicking me about,” she said, adding, while holding an ice pack to her head, that the alleged attack came “out of the blue”.
“I just want him to be removed from the premises,” she said. Prosecutor Daniel O’Donoghue said footage of Barton’s arrest shows he was “clearly intoxicated”.
He is seen in bed dressed in just his boxer shorts while being woken up by police officers before slowly pulling on his shorts, a polo neck T-shirt and socks. Barton, who played for teams including Manchester City, Newcastle, Queen’s Park Rangers and Marseille, as well as making one appearance for England in 2007, denied assault by beating.
His wife declined to make a written witness statement but ahead of the expected trial in March wrote to the Crown Prosecution Service. During earlier legal argument, the court heard Mrs Barton had written a letter to prosecutors, claiming she and her husband had been drinking “about four or five bottles of wine each” with two other couples.
She said she wasn’t sure what she said to police was totally accurate and explained that her injury was caused accidentally when friends intervened in the argument. Prosecutors said the account was an attempt to “exculpate” her husband and still chose not to interview her or call her to give evidence.
Mr O’Donoghue said on Monday: “The prosecution maintain she would not be a credible witness and has put forward an exculpatory account in order to assist Mr Barton and undermine the comments made on the evening, which we say are very clear on the video.”
However, District Judge Andrew Sweet said there were options available to the CPS to compel Mrs Barton to give evidence or treat her as a hostile witness. “I am satisfied the position adopted by the Crown not to take a statement or call Mrs Barton is at odds with the case law,” he said.
However I agree with those that suggest we move on and put this behind us and hope he doesn't find himself in this situation again

That’s exactly what happened.
