Not too far fetched but of little use as a defence system for the UK or US. Back in the 1980/1990 the US & UK (to a much lesser extent) were developing what was known colloquially as 'Star Wars' or the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) a system to shoot down and destroy from space incoming ICBM's.

Not sure we were involved, Reagan saw it as a genuine umbrella for peace but Moscow became paranoid and coupled with several other things nearly caused WWIII. Highly recommend 1983:The world at the brink, when we were a hair's breadth from a nuclear exchange.

Can clearly remember 1962 as a young lad - not so much 1983. Thanks for the heads up on 1983.

Educate the stupid if you would. Turkish TB2? It's a Turkish made UAV or armed drone. In the 2020 conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia it was used by Azerbaijan to destroy loads of Armenian tanks and other armoured vehicles. I think baggins' post was intended for you to educate yattongas! 😉

Lot’s more NLSW and Javelin shipped into Ukraine now. Along with Stingers.
The longer this war goes on for, the more of a bloodbath it will become.

Diane Abbot getting Ukraine mixed up with Croatia, suggesting that Russian tanks had reached the Balkans. Did think it was amusing.

Seeing 40 miles of armour jammed together like that is asking for it and I hope the Ukrainians have the weaponry to do it, bit like that Iraqi armoured column the Brits/US totally destroyed in the Gulf War. It's apparently the best part of an Armoured Division. If it's not stopped then it's not looking good for Kyiv, they'll just park outside and either starve them out or destroy it in stages until they surrender. Watching this is like watching the German invasion of Russia in 41 so depressing, despite the heroic resistance of the Ukrainians this has a feeling of inevitably about it. I am hoping that the Russian economy gets squeezed very quickly to generate massive internal pressure that Putin is forced to step down,he is a despicable excuse of a man .

Add in the fighters being donated by Poland and Bulgaria, I wonder if this is why nothing yet has happened. Ukraine getting their pieces into place for a big hit with anti tank missiles and bombs. They'd only need to hit a few selected parts to cause a jam. Javelin's abilities were well known, NLAW has shown its mettle in this. Humanitarian aid needs to get through otherwise I fear the resistance will be for nought eventually.

Hoping it's more like the Winter War in Finland. Russia tends to have self inflicted bloody noses at times. The Russo-Japanese War in 1905 is another that comes to mind.

All countries in the EU with Mig-29’s in the EU denied that they were giving any to Ukraine. Seems like Borell jumped the gun on that one. NLAW is a massively practical weapon for Urban warfare, easy to use, compact, can be launched from a window. Probably why the Russian’s a pretty reluctant to commit much of their armour they’ve got queued up on the highway outside of Kyiv.

The Soviet intelligence services and an ill leader became paranoid, jumping at shadows. Their agents were tasked to watch for signs of build up, which they duly noted and reported back. One sign they were told to watch for was people working late in the MoD, genuinely cleaners leaving lights on at night could have triggered a nuclear exchange. Add to that the Able Archer exercises and it nearly happened.

Interesting take on recent events, hopefully true in that it's not actually aimed at us. More worryingly is the implication of Vlad losing the plot.

I'm pretty sure the Tories are not the only party who have accepted donations from people linked to Russia. Its discrimination to tarnish every Russian as having links to Putin and being corrupt. It's like hearing an irish accent and assuming they are a terrorist and must have links to the IRA.
