Lack of unity, Putin likes sowing discord and taking advantage of disunity. Just see Young Labour. 😶 Militarily we are very weak. Weak all over. Decade of cuts, self inflicted brexit damage, pandemic, leadership vacuum. As weak as we have ever been really. I know it was a misquote anyway, but Cameron's comments about WWIII don't seem quite so far fetched now.

So now any dodgy Russian in the UK has been given a massive heads up to move their dodgy money out of the country before sanctions get tighter.
Well played Boris 🇷🇺 🙄

He couldn't move on Poland for example but Russia could do the same to the Baltic states and there would be very little we could do.

Putin has played a blinder here over the last 8 years.
He's predicted pretty much every move from Boris and allies and set us up perfectly.
But don't worry - we're going to put sanctions on 5 Russian men. Your move, Vlad

Did anyone see Trumps comments that the US should do this to Mexico?!

I wonder how much US Naval fire power is now conveniently on practice manouvers over there? Got to be a handful of subs, carriers?

None, they aren't allowed passage through the Bosphorus. Besides, they'd be trapped and overwhelmed by sheer numbers and nobody is realistically looking at confronting Russia directly, we won't be looking at WWIII over Crimea, the Donbas or Kyiv. Support, politically and practically in terms of equipment is another thing entirely.

Depends on what you want to use them for, but they'd be within range of land based aircraft and missiles, plus Russia, as a Black Sea country, are permitted submarines.

Range of fighter bombers from an aircraft carrier? I'm just wondering if the US really wanted to, they could cause some real damage out there.

Yes they could but it would be by other means, however anything overt or obvious will escalate quickly and won't be contained, it'll be WWIII. Best keep a distance and use sanctions.

Some reports of Russian air traffic control closing airspace to civilian flights.
Any attack could well be imminent, even as soon as overnight.

Explosions rock Kharkiv, Kiev, Odessa. Putin gives a speech to the UNSC practically declaring war on Ukraine. Troops move into Ukraine from the south in Crimea in an area that isn’t Donbas.
We’re witnessing history, bloody, gruesome, heartbreaking history. I can’t get to sleep right now and I expect a lot of Brits will wake up to this news and be as appalled as I am.
The people of Ukraine are in my thoughts.
