Usual caveats apply of course, if close to what is happening it puts the question can Ukraine split the Russian held area into two by driving towards the coast.

"At the meeting in St Petersburg, Mr Ramaphosa also called for both parties to return their prisoners of war, and said children removed by Russia should be returned home. Mr Putin has been charged with war crimes by the International Criminal Court over the forced removal of hundreds of Ukrainian children from their families during Russia's occupation of Ukraine. As the African delegation called for the return of children to their families, Mr Putin interrupted their speech and claimed Russia was protecting them. "Children are sacred. We moved them out of the conflict zone, saving their lives and health", he said. The UN said they have evidence of the illegal transfer of hundreds of Ukrainian children to Russia. Mr Ramaphosa also warned Mr Putin of the impacts of the war on Africa, and said it should be settled by diplomacy. South Africa and Uganda are seen as leaning towards Russia, while Zambia and Comoros are closer to the West. Egypt, Senegal and Congo-Brazzaville have remained largely neutral." www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-65940655

Things are afoot. When Russia lost the war with Japan in 1905 it brought about a revolution, as did losing in 1917. After losing in 1989 in Afghanistan the Soviet Union fell apart. Could we really be witnessing something here too, a real risk of civil war in Russia? Conflict between Wagner and the Russian army could spill over with dangerous consequences all round. "Russia has opened a criminal case against the head of the Wagner mercenary group for alleged armed mutiny, with security tightened in the capital. Yevgeny Prigozhin accused the country's defence ministry of targeting his troops and ordering a rocket strike on Wagner's field camps in Ukraine - killing "a huge number of our comrades"." news.sky.com/story/wagner-boss-accuses-russian-military-leaders-of-targeting-his-troops-12908654

Things are fast moving, Putin to make a TV address soon. Meanwhile "Wagner fighters have taken control of all military facilities in the city of Voronezh, Reuters reports, citing a Russian security source.
Voronezh is approximately 310 miles south of Moscow."

So it wasn't Nato expansion then, not sure who to believe. 🙈 "Russia did not face an imminent security threat to justify its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of Russia’s Wagner mercenary outfit, said in a bombshell video posted on social media Friday. “The Armed Forces of Ukraine were not going to attack Russia with the NATO bloc,” Prigozhin explained in the half-hour tirade released by his press service. “The Russian Defense Ministry is deceiving the public and the president,” he added. Prigozhin also accused Kremlin-linked oligarchs of seeking to plunder Ukraine’s resources after its military capture and appointment of a puppet regime in Kyiv. “The task was to divide material assets in Ukraine. There was widespread theft in the [industrial eastern Ukrainian territory of the] Donbas, but they wanted more.” Some analysts have interpreted Prigozhin’s latest comments as a sign of his growing political ambitions." www.themoscowtimes.com/2023/06/23/wagner-chief-says-russias-invasion-of-ukraine-unjustified-a81609

It’s like 1 major news story after another three days, not sure I can keep up. Bloody interesting to see what’ll happen here
Surely this isn’t going to need Russian troops leaving Ukraine to support?

If the dissenting voices get some traction and some degree of rebellion builds (with the Russian population starting to hear something other than state manipulated news broadcasts) what will Putin’s strategy be? Will he have an exit strategy planned? Where would he be welcomed without risk of extradition?

Potentially, bit close to home and when your an international paraiha even you best friends will betray you . He's really nowhere to go, he either stays in office at all costs or faces being forced out, probably violently. He's turned Russia into a country run by a mafia style government. He won't be able to retire and write his memoirs. With Wagner turning back, it's probable Gerasimov and Shiogu will be the fall guys (no pun intended). Immediate threat to Moscow over but may just store up resentment and fear. Will Wagner really be content in returning to the meat grinder of the Donbas and will their relationship with the Russian MOD be cordial now?

All that resentment and dysfunctionalality will continue to erode Putin's control, dictators are paranoiach and trust no one ,this will only exacerbate the problem. Chaos is our friend and will eventually weaken Putin to the extent that control will pass to someone else. The question is who and what will they stand for.
